cyberderf
I have a Core 2 duo 3 GHZ based system with 8 GB of ram, a 8660 GTS vid card with a fast SSD drive running under OSX Lion 10.7.4. Which I assume should be well enough for good flash performance! However I got a lot of CPU consume (30% to 85%, most of the time 50%) with almost any Youtube video and intense flash websites . It's quite annoying. Safari, Chrome (integrated flash), Firefox.. it's all the same. I have the latest flash plugin installed and I've tried to uninstall / reinstall flash several times using the Adobe uninstaller. Are you getting the same kind of results ? What kind of upgrade would give me a real performance upgrade for flash videos? A recent adobe video card or a Quad core CPU ? Dr. Hurt
This problem has been plaguing mac users for years and that's why Apple removed flash player from Lion. Flash player for the Mac OS is rubbish no matter what hardware you have. Thankfully though, the web is (slowly but surely) transitioning to HTML5. PS. switch to the HTML5 version of YouTube for the mean time.
