napster-grey
Hi there, on my freshly installed and with Time Machine restored ML GM I am experiencing problems accessing the Security and Privacy-panel in the preferences. Every other section like Dock, Mail, iCloud, Network, etc. are working properly. But when I am trying to visit the Security it just shows "Loading Security..." in the upper bar in the Preferences window and stands still at the overview, even after 10 mins it won't get loaded. Is there any fix or did anyone experience the same problem? rcork
Try repairing disk permissions. Did you do a clean install of OSX (format, install) or upgrade (install over existing install)? Foxic
Same issue with a HP Probook 4530s, look in console for the error message. Upgraded from Lion, same process as my main rig which is working fine, only difference is a patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement on the Probook for SandyBridge. Repaired permissions, no difference. eep357
I had both Time Machine and Migration Assistant foul up numerous permissions, many of which are not addressed using Disk Utility's repair. Try using Onyx and have it also reset home folder ACLs. Have no idea why, but Migration Assistant even managed to change permissions on "/" which diskutil won't fix and will cause serious issues Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280870-solved-securityprivacy-preferences-issue/#findComment-1835988 Share on other sites
napster-grey
Repairing the permissions didn't fix it aswell and I don't have a patched IntelCPUPowerManagement but the NullCPUPowerManagement. Cannot use Onyx because the developer is not verified by Apple, so I would have to change the Security-prefs to allow launching non-verified apps but I cannot access the Security-prefs ._. @rcork: A clean install. I am wondering where the plist for GateKeeper is stored, so I might be able to change it manually. eep357
you can also have onyx find bad plists in /L/Preferences but I had to remove a couple from ~/L/Preferences manually I believe security tab settings are in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist and not a separate plist Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280870-solved-securityprivacy-preferences-issue/#findComment-1836029 Share on other sites

napster-grey
Did you try more than one time to open the security-panel? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280870-solved-securityprivacy-preferences-issue/#findComment-1836476 Share on other sites
Foxic
Ok I've got it. Use the attached plist, then open Security & Privacy and when it doesn't open, just click it again. com.apple.systempreferences.plist.zip 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280870-solved-securityprivacy-preferences-issue/#findComment-1836575 Share on other sites
eep357
When you copy system preference files manually, the ownership and file permissions can be changed as well and puts you right back in the same boat. 9 times out of 10 if you just delete the plist, a new one will be recreated automatically the next time you launch that app, or in this case prefpane, and other than maybe needing to reapply a setting or two that was changed back to default, it should start behaving normal. Bandes
I have same problems, and i don't think it's already solved. Upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion. Security panel was not loading. I did try your plist, and it helped loading, although still not fluid. And the biggest problem is, something is still crashing permanently in an endless loop. Console is getting filled up constantly and my CPU is never idle. It should be related to Location Services. I unticked that so it should not be running, but its still trying to do something. Foxic
Something to do with FindMyMac and the recovery patrition? The line mentioning 'Helper partitions' got me thinking. Bandes
Oook. com.apple.UserEventAgent-Aqua was the name of the process making the problems(restarting and crashing every 10 seconds). I moved the file com.apple.UserEventAgent-Aqua.plist into a backup folder from /System/Library/LaunchAgents/ Now it does not respawn again Also i noticed mds was going all the time and eating cpu. That is the Spotlight Indexer process. I had to put my ntfs drives into Spotlight's Do Not Search settings, and now it stopped, cpu is cooling back ! The Security Settings and the Privacy tab is still not fluid, but it doesn't matter anymore. eep357
the "helper partitions" only apply to RAID-0 so you will always see kextd look for them, if not using RAID then it won't find them and move on, if booting from RAID, it will acquire a lock on them and rebuild their caches 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280870-solved-securityprivacy-preferences-issue/#findComment-1839889 Share on other sites
ochu
Ok I've got it. Use the attached plist, then open Security & Privacy and when it doesn't open, just click it again. Thanks!
