TomA2
I am looking at the processor temps in the BIOS hardware monitoring. Processor fan speed is 2700 Rear fan speed is 2100 I have Pentium D 840 and my temps are: Processor Temp: 83C Internal Temp: 51C Remote Temp: 43C This seems too high. What's up? TopazBar
That seems wrong. Here is mine for reference. Pentium D 805, Processor Temp: 47-48 C Fan speed: 1800 Mobo Temp: low 40'ish Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28043-processor-temperatures/#findComment-191548 Share on other sites
TomA2
What are you using? I am looking at "Hardware Monitoring" in the BIOS I'm not really sure what the difference between processor temp and internal temp is, either. TopazBar
Both BIOS and double checked with fanspeed (?sp). EDIT: more details. I use OSX all day then I go into BIOS and check processor and mobo temp. I use windows all day (similar functions in OSX) then monitored temp using fanspeed. TomA2
Your BIOS only reports 2 temps? Mine reports three. I wonder which ones are equivalent? The 80s one seems too high, but I don't know what it means. mifki
Dont trust the onboard sensor, they dont work sometimes. Try applying a new coating of goop (thermal paste) to your heatsink and make sure its really thin or it will not conduct heat well. MacMartin
Is your CPU stable? No error's or BSOD's? Try a program like Prime'95 and run it for at least 6 hours. If it's errorfree, then the sensor doesn't work. I know my D805 isn't stable at 83C. I tested it by overclocking it to 4.1GHz. TomA2
It seems to be fine. I haven't noticed any problems with it. When I leave the case open the temp drops to 78C, but when it is closed it heads up to 85C. I wonder whether the processor fan is down all the way, because this MOBO has a number of resistors around the processor socket that make contact with the base of the fan. I'm thinking of taking the fan out and grinding down the edges on my grinder. zedzed
What CPU fan are you using? I have a Hot P4 550 series. I have CNPS9500 AT Which keeps my HOT CPU nice and cool below 60 C Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28043-processor-temperatures/#findComment-192782 Share on other sites
