*insert huge red tomato cartoon*  Furthermore, the American Constitution does not apply to the *World Wide* Web, last time I check.  That said, freedom of speech is a great principle; live and let live too. One can promote different view of hackintoshing without spending so much time and effort pointing fingers at Tony**** : just forget that clown and move on.
Mieze
just forget that clown and move on.  Tonymac is pursuing a fascist policy which makes him a danger for freedom because once you learned to accept fascism in a small community you won't be far from accepting fascism in real life. That's why we have to counter him in order to defend freedom. Calling him a clown means to play down fascism.  Mieze
m404
Tonymac is pursuing a fascist policy which makes him a danger for freedom  no offense, but you need to read up on what fascism is, and how much more complex than "totalitarian regime" it actually is  also, the real danger to freedom has always been people that believe they have to force their beliefs upon someone elses life ... ignore tonymac, whenever he's mentioned make sure to let the person know why he's disrespected in the community, and move on. trying to "fight" him and discredit him they way is being done here is _far_ from the pursuit of exercising freedom of speech, and is substantially closer to hate speech (which is NOT protected by the concept of freedom of speech, as the freedom of speech ends where the others freedom begins ... )
Dilemma Prison
Yeeeeah. Agreed. Subject shift. Â So, according to public records Tonymac86's public tax stuff says they made ~ $180,000 last year. Â Given an presumed level of fudging on that I wonder how much they are rolling in yearly.

It describes a set of organizational principles of certain social communities and in that way tony's policy can as well be called fascist. Calling a spade a spade has nothing to do with hate.  Mieze

Exaggeration has always been a method of satire and you shouldn't forget that these people don't appear out of nothing, they have a history which made them the way they are.  I don't need to read up on what fascism really is, because I'm Italian and we have to learn this {censored} over and over and over again, much like Nationalsozialismus for you germans Trust me ... fascism is born out of politics, and is only applicable to politics (the whole concept of fascias is about politics). The fact that some people love to use the term to describe social constructs and communities doesn't change that is an abuse of the term, much like calling someone that is a plain racist (think of a southern US redneck) a Nazi is totally common practice, yet absolutely inaccurate.  Btw ... "it describes a set of organizational principles of certain social communities" is - a ) wrong (fascism has much more to do with government form and corporates interests) - b ) almost a very simplistic way of describing the term "politics" ;-)  Is tonymac totalitarian, authoritarian, and last but not least, an {censored} ? yes, yes and appearently yes (we don't _really_ know his true character nation just by how he runs a community, so let's take that judgement with a grain of salt, shall we?). But is he a fascist? No, because plenty of things he does are in an extreme and direct contradiction to core fascist principles. Using the term fascism to describe tonymac is not only an insult to fascists (which we could really care less about, since we don't care about fascists ^^), but it's also completely inaccurate.  As I said in my previous post ... what you are doing here in this thread, is actually a very nice example of how opposition to oppression quickly can turn over into oppression itself. You're not protecting freedom of speech here ... you are hurting it.  You might wanna sit down, take a few moments (hours, preferably) to think about the whole picture, and reconsider whether namecalling, nameshaming and generally the context of this threat still constitutes as "art", since you keep calling it satire, which is per se, art.
mhaeuser
Just a quick opinion from my side: People should be made aware of tonymacx86, the reasons why his methods and ruleset are bad and how his community is oppressive in some ways, but calling him The Fuhrer in every second post is not only lame but super-childish as well. Satire is a great way of transporting a message, but if I want to call someone oppressive, there are better ways than calling him a discriminating war starter who killed more humans than ever built a Hackintosh in every third sentence.

The fact that you are Italian means nothing because in both countries, Germany and Italy, there are a lot of people who didn't get it and still believe that fascism is a good thing.  The principles of fascism originate from a lower middle-class environment and were developed during the late 19th century. Most of the later fascist leaders absorbed these ideas with their education. The important point is that these ideas were already fully developed and deeply rooted in society when they began to achieve a prevalent role in politics after world war one. Btw ... Would you really subsume the social community "family" under the category politics?
holyfield
It's pointless to argue here about natcional socialism or facism here.  If to be very specific, both are very spefic political views. None of them is bad byitself, bad is what some poeple might have done in the name of some ideology. Bad is mostly question of point of view too. This formum isn't about political issues, it's about hacking (not cracking).  It's obvious that due the mass propaganda, the words facism and nazi doesn't have nothing to do with original political views. Those are just synonyms for Satan, Devil etc. It's pointless to argue about misuseage of those words.  The truth is, that this Tony {censored} misuses other people's work for it's own good and acts like some despot in his forum. That's all.

Fascism hasn't been limited to only Germany or Italy, in fact it is a phenomenon which existed or still exists in almost any western society and which shows an astonishing variety, but totalitarianism and authoritarianism are the characteristics which they all have in common. In that way you already answered the question you asked with yes!
