Hello All,

My name is Adam and I live just outside Phoenix Arizona.

I am just getting started in the hackintosh scene. I have had a couple different Apple computers over the last ten years and found it was time to replace my last machine. I cam across the hackintosh idea by watching a video on youtube and from there I was hooked! The idea of building a computer that runs on OSX totally fits what I want. A computer that I can afford, parts I can upgrade at anytime and it running on Apple software. So I have been doing as much research as I can looking for the most compatible parts to have as much of a hassle free build I can get. This will be my first time building any computer, I am a complete noob with this so my first build will be a G5 mod! I figure I would give it my all or nothing at all lol. We shale see how it goes.

Adam ;)

Running a (very mac looking on its own) Dell Studio XPS 8100 with an nVidia 9600 GT and everything else the way it came: i7 860 @ 2.8 GHz, with 6 GB of ram running Windows 7 64 bit. The motherboard, which is the thing I thiiink im having problems with installing Mac SL OS is a 0T568R and I've found almost no information on it so far.

Glad to be a part of this community though! Cant wait to find what all you guys have to offer =]

I just got into the hackint0sh world as well about a week ago.

I first started being interested in it once my iPhone/iPad needed certain things from OSX get get working (developer tools, xcode, multitouch gestures). I found several very helpful threads and with the exception of my headphone jack, webcam and mic I have my Gateway P7805u running 10.6.6 with absolutely no issues!

I will continue to find more information to help people out running this laptop. This site rocks.

I agree, finding the forums to be a wealth of info. The problem is that I cannot seem to narrow it down from broad.

Example: I am needing a new compatible video card but I just cannot seem to find recommendations anywhere. Lots of people saying 'this works with this fix and that' but nothing like 'this would be good for this particular type of build or situation'.

I am sad to give up my HD 3450 card. It runs Dragon Age 2 like a dream.

Anyways my name is Austin and working on putting together a guide for people to mod up the Inspiron 518. So far I'm having a good success with it.

I agree Balinesterror, wealth of info here is a plus, and Guides are a great help,

especially with laptops as they can be quite uniform in hardware.

Though, even minor changes(like RAM) in hackintoshes cause headaches.

I'm sure your guide will be helpful to someone.

-Minibookair, I can't post anywhere else, that's why I'm here. It's therapeutic, like AA.
