Hi all

I'm Mark, and have been viewing this forum for a while now, so thought I should get round to signing up and posting as I'm about to take the plunge and build my first Hackintosh.

Been a Mac user for a few years now, love the Software, the hardware is nice but overpriced for my needs (and my wallet), hence my interest here!

Nice to meet you all... :)

Hope I'm doing this properly. Never been an active forum user and I'm really hoping that I can get the help I need by registering instead of skimming. My name is Michael and I'm a PC (kill me lol) I'm just about 21yo and have used Windows my entire life so far. I always had enough knowledge of computers to get by but never ACTUALLY knew much when it came to anything important until recently. I started screwing around with things only a few months ago and have already made a considerable amount of progress even with my highly limited knowledge. Obviously I know much more about Windows than anything else, but I am also using Ubuntu on another hard drive. If there's anything that would be useful to add my collection of computer info, just point my in the right direction. Thanks in advance to everything that I'm positive this site can offer me. -_-

hello everyone, im chris, from the south U.S. I just got 10.5.7 running on my vaio VGN-FE770G and im loving osx, the main reason i wanted osx is for the applications there are just so many great ones.

Ive been using nothing but linux for the past 5 years from ubuntu to fedora to Suse ive tried alot of them but ive stuck with linux mint... based on ubuntu it seems to be a pretty solid os... now ive finally got osx running, i tried to get snow leopard to work but there was just too many problems, i couldn't even get it to boot without -x. but leopard is running very smoothly on my laptop (thanks to searching this forum). ive also got a amd quad core desktop with linux running on it but havent had much luck getting oxs to work on it.

There seems to be a good bit of knowledge in this forum, and i hope to contribute some of my own.

Hey man, I have the exact Sony Vaio. I installed Ideneb and had to use a few patches to get it working, but its working. However, the audio and wireless internet will not work. Have you found a solution? Did you install Leopard or Snow Leopard? Any help would be great.. Thanks

I'm actually not new to the forum.

I've been SleeperNinja since about 2006 or so, back when it was still OSX86. My account doesn't seem to work; hasn't for about a year.

I've let admins know, but I'm going to use this until that's fixed (I hope). ;)

Is this your old account: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showuser=394423

It is "validating", which probably means that you changed your email but somehow it wasn't validated.

My name is Sam, who is a Financial Analyst living in Hong Kong. I would like to take iATKOs S3 V2 for fun. :) I am really a "dummy" boy for dealing with IT technical stuff. All my knowledge of computer is coming from trial-n-errors and computer magazines. :D

Hi everyone I'm Robert. I'm new to the site I love experimenting with computer's. The thing I love about mac software is the visuals and the capability in speed and the ability to do cross platform virtualization. I'm sure that's why we're all here. So when I do pass par two of the quiz I will most undoubtedly have questions and concerns regarding issues with my hackingtosh. Until then thanks insanely mac forums for accepting me as a new member.

are you really from Italy???

Hi, everyone,

I'm sort of reintroducing myself here because I'm starting to consider using a desktop PC I built myself several years ago and turning it into a Hackintosh. The specs are in my signature, and I have more complete specs available if the ones listed in the signature aren't adequate.

I'm really just wondering if I can get this going without too much hardware changes, or if I should start purchasing new hardware that would be better suited for this purpose.

Thoughts?

P.S. I'm a Counter Intelligence Agent with Geek Squad Precinct #363 in Shreveport, Louisiana, and I was the founder and host of The WordPress Podcast before turning it over to Joost de Valk several years ago. I have a bachelor's degree in Information from Mississippi State University and I served as a Data Systems Technician in the U.S. Navy. The first computer I ever used was a Tandy CoCo, and the first computer I owned was a 512Ke Macintosh.

With an AMD cpu you won't be able to use vanilla kernel (I think). Try to use a bootCD legacy version. Try nawcom modCD or tonymacosx86 ##### (for Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.x)

Just an old fart trying to learn new things. Many years ago i did some 8086 and 8088, with some Cobol, pascal, c, and fortran. I picked up C++, Java, C# and SQL over the last few years. Now I am trying to learn the workings of the OS X system from the Kernel to the GUI. So i figured the best way was to take a system and make it work. Hope I live that long. :) .
