Hi there; my name is Jamie. That "Ms" in front of my name in my handle is not a typo; I am, in fact, female.

I'm also old enough to be your mother.

Speaking of old, I am definitely "old school". Note the spelling of "school"; not "skool", "sch00l", or any of that {censored}.

Old school is learning Z80 assembly on a TRS-80, because the supplied BASIC wasn't powerful enough. And no, there's no "Model" designation after TRS-80. ("No bloody I, II, III, or 4.") Model IIIs and 4s are for wimps. Unless you have a Model 4 with the high rez board in it; that's cool.

Old school is programming on a mainframe using punch cards, and getting your results back on 22" green bar paper.

Old school is learning AIX from the man pages on an IBM RT 6150, because the sysop at the school lost the manual set.

Old school is figuring out how to dynamically configure the IP addresses on all the computers at the school computer lab, given that the drivers for the cards did not support DHCP.

Old school Internet protocols are telnet, ftp, and nntp. If you had to search for a file, you would telnet to an Archie server.

Even though I'm old school, I am always on the lookout to learn new things. I've always been interested in Mac OS running in non-blessed boxes, going all the way back to the original Hackintosh articles in Computer Shopper (back when it was 500+ pages).

Hi everyone. Fairly experienced PC user here. I know most versions of Windows and Dos inside and out. I know a little bit about some of the different distros of Linux, and only a tiny bit about some of the various Mac OS's. My goal is to create a multi-boot system (the most I have done is 2) containing Various versions of Windows, Linux, and OS X.

Hi,

I'm Dave and I live in Stockport in the UK.

I'm a very long time served Mac person and was an IT freelancer for many years... Know lots about Macs and a fair bit about PCs. Was trying to build an OSx86 system on either a RC410-M (not good  ) or ASRock G41S-GM (better but strugglin  ). Now got an ASRock ConRoe-945G-DVI which (based upon chipset info) should be fully compatible (and maybe easier :D ). I basically want an Intel Mac without the price tag!

Hello everybody

Michael Here...

From Denmark.... And old dude that has been around since there where no personale computers.

I got a degree in Electronic Hardware WAYYYYYYYYY back in the 1980´s !!! My first work on computeres where making Tapes og cards for test automatic test machines. "HDD" back then where

640 Kb big and 30 inch wide !!!

My first real work in Comal, and Basic where on a Z81 Sinclare, at work it was a ABC Computer ! And the first DOS where runned on a 8086 Simens computer !!!

SOOOOO i been around for a long time, but now a days i in management !!! Thats how it nearly allways goes....

I tumbled on this "hackintosh" thing becaurse i think Apple is WAY to expecive, comparing what you get for your money. And the fact your not able to upgrade you Mac as a PC i find the project interesting. Windows is oki but for some users the "logical" in OSX just more user friendly !

And to keep up with the new gadgets like iPhone APPS iPAD and other pc tablets and smart phone, i want to have a ALL-IN-ONE computer running ( multiboot ).

Hope to get some help and further on can help others too.

All the best

KMN

A big hello to you all, I'm hennahacker.

There's not much to know about me, I'm a fairly quiet poster for the most part, but I do like to get involved in the community. I'm a longtime Apple and Windows user who occasionally potters around in other systems when the mood or necessity arises. I mostly use my systems for creative purposes, but I do enjoy the technical aspects of systems too.

Also of some note; I'm from the little island some call Australia.

Hey!

I'm from Philly & I work as a web developer / all around tech consultant.

I own a G51JX with the G60JX motherboard running 10.6.4 with 1920x1080 on main display and HDMI & VGA working with the Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M.

I also popped a 60GB Vertex SSD into it before installing OSX.

37 Second Boot Time from BIOS screen (5 seconds of which is Chameleon on 5 second stall in boot loader)

About 27 second boot time post OS selection screen.

Hi guys !

I'm Gabriel from Bolivia, currently I am attending college and my major is Computer Science. Also and I'm the owner of a Compaq Presario CQ62-225nr.

I am new to the Mac world and some of my friends own macs, but they are very expensive and also I love my computer, so I would like to run OSX on it.

I have extensive experience installing, reinstalling and uninstalling operating systems, I have worked with windows and linux to date, now I'll give a try to OSX.

My goal is to make a multi-boot machine along with Windows 7, lets see how it goes

Hey guys

I'm Pedro, from Portugal, I've been trying to get my Packard Bell Easynote TM86 (Core i5 430M, ATI HD5470) to run under Snow Leopard for almost a month now, I tried every single tutorial available, and distros. I'm about to give up, but I decided to ask for help, as last resort effort.

Thanks in advance to everyone

HI lads,

Good to be onboard!!!

I have been into computers since 92-93 when Wolfenstein 3D was the hottest computer game and the 486 PC ruled the world. I have worked with most of the Windows OS and lately also LInux OS. My latest computer project is to get Mac OS up and running on my PC:s both Laptops and Desktops.

My other big passion in life is all about heavy metal and Melodic hardrock.

Rock on lads

Mikael
