Hello people,

I'm just here to mess around with Mac OS. I've got it working perfectly on my Advent 4211c and Now I'm looking into seeing it it will work on my HP 210-1160SA and my new Delll XPS L701.

I hope to learn lots from here, and contribute where I can :)

Hi All,

Just beginning my first foray into the word of Hackintosh and boy is it a steep learning curve.

I've only been at it for a couple of days and already the wife is giving me grief about spending EVEN MORE time in front of the damned PC.

Ah well, some things in life just must be expected I suppose.

Regards

Ian

Hey all. Long-time PC user (since '89) who was compelled to check out OS X86 when Apple decided to use Intel processors exclusively (although there are rumors of AMD on the horizon). Did I mention that I am also a long-time AMD user?

Anyway, my first Hackintosh was a vanilla snow leopard install on an Acer laptop that I paid 20 bucks for at a yard sale. Ordered the disk from apple, and simply needed Tony's ##### in order to install it. Incidentally, I still boot with #####. I also needed to get ahold of a patch to allow me to see video on the laptop screen. I needed to use an external screen for installation.

My pride and joy, though, is my quad core AMD Phenom-based machine based on an M3N78 PRO MOBO, running iDNeb 1.5 Voodoo kernel from a solid state drive. The system uses many digital audio workstation components that support both Windows 7 and Os X 10.5.7. I am using Chameleon bootloader to dual boot the system. I am running two PCIE graphics cards (NVidia Quadro), a Mark of the Unicorn PCIx 424 - based unit, and myriad usb devices. I needed to enable AHCI after the Windows 7 installation, and essentially reinstall all of my drivers to make it work. I also kept getting graphics errors with the Leopard install until I disabled the internal video and lan. I disable built in sound and serial port by default as well (and use the MOTU system for sound). Once I put in an old PCI Realtek card, I was on the net. It took a bit of fine tuning of my Windows 7 system after all of that, but now both are stable. Windows 7 functions essentially flawlessly (except for its obviously gargantuan use of memory and resources compared to Mac OS X), and OS X is stable... Main annoyance now is that it changes my system clock to the wrong time when it reboots or shuts down.

Also had some experience Hackintoshing an Acer Aspire One netbook with Snow Leo, but that wasn't entirely successful....

and nice to meet you, musicmaniac... Now that's what a call an interesting coincidence... :)
