Hi, I'm Rob, and of course, I am new here. I've been playing with Windows since it was called DOS, have been using Debian and Ubuntu Linux as my primary OS for over five years, and decided to check out Mac. Before I commit a small fortune on a MacBook, I'd like to test the waters, installing OS X on an old IBM ThinkPad X40 I have collecting dust. I'm thinking to do an install using the Kalway Leopard ISO. I am hoping that I can create either a bootable DVD or USB stick using Ubuntu.

Nice forums very help-full.

Iv'e been trying to sort problems running windows/vista64/win7 64 since i got my first my Mac pro 2006 mac pro 1.1 3ghz quad core, fx4500 nvidia graphics card, 8 gig 667ram.

Always had problems with disk read write speeds until i found these forums and with help from your members have sorted with little pain but quite a bit of my holiday time.

I have developed an interest in building my own mac in the coming months after finding that my iBook G4 just is not handling my needs.

 

I intend to build a pretty powerful machine based around an i7-870 or if finances permit an i7-960.

 

Looking forward to using this site more to get advice on components and software installation.

I have entered the beautiful world of Mac after slapped by Microsoft guys and their Most Valuable Professional in a forum. (Long story; the extract is, I have (or had ) a Compaq laptop and I bought genuine Windows 7 Home Premium from shop. After few months (7 days ago) it started to say, that is not genuine! I called them over phone, wrote in their official forum and another un official forum; they decided that, despite I have bills, box etc, I am using a "pirated" copy.

 

 

I was feeling bad and started to seek alternatives. I saw this forum's address in a blog Then downloaded iatkos v7 . its running fine

 

I will try to support this forum from my little knowledge
