Can somebody tell me why is Clover better? I have the following setup

 

Inspiron N5110 (2430M)

500GB HDD (GPT) (3 Partition , first windows, 2nd mac, third for Data+TimeMachine)

ALPS TouchPoint

Chameleon 2.2 svn2283

8GB RAM (Dual Channel)

Front Camera

USB (All incl. 3.0)

eSATA (Not tested but USB plugged in WORKS)

Everything works!!

 

I have installed Yosmitie and i have everything working from TouchPad Scroll, Full Sleep, Brightness Control,HW Sensors. Its to-date perfect setup for me. I never had to made DSDT or SSDT,  i used whats available. Just made a TimeMachine backup and now i transffered that to external HD, i can reformat this drive and install again the same backup and everything works flawlessly fine.

 

 

What else would someone need? Why bother for Clover? Whats so special about it? (Sorry , i didnt had time to go through all of the threads - i am short on time, my apologizes) 

 

 

Anyone could tell me what i am missing? (PS: I have the stable Mac Yosmitie 10.10.5 , never crashed, never hung, never heat up and i am using almost 20-25 apps at a single time)

clover uses built in EFI if exists or emulates it with rEFIt

chameleon/chimera only emulates EFI

 

if your system has (U)EFI  it's better to use clover instead of  chameleon or chimera

I have to buy a WLAN card to get it wifi working. Which one do you all recommend? There are range of Atheros card with matching interface, can I go with anyone of them? I would prefer card with BT 4 if possible

You need a half size pcie card because the full size slot (WWAN) present in Dell N5110 is USB only.

The only half size card which use BCM4360 is BCM94360HMB but

- it needs 3 antennas

- it uses a new type of antenna connectors

You can install it, but you need to change/add antennas.

BCM4352 is plug and play. You don't need anything else.

Hello guys,

 

Could you help me, please? Which version of OS X works smoothly?

Would be El Captain good if I installed it? Do kexts work perfectly? Because I saw that some functions aren't available.

Or is Yosemite still better?

 

I had ML few years ago.

 

Do I only need to use the description of page 1? Is it up-to-date?

I have facetime, appstore,imessages working on chameleon(enoch 2773) with macbook pro 8,1 SMBios.

I had Yosemite and all was working except turbo boost, even sleep was working, also with Chameleon bootloader.

 

Do you think it will break the boot even if i have  Chameleon? I mean if i flash that Bios?

If anyone is interested i can make a guide for chameleon installing, but first it's needed to repair the sleep so it can be a fully functional guide.

P.S.

I have used a DSDT for i7 provided by kenjiloc and it would use multiplier x28 on my i5 getting it to 2.77ghz getting score of 4666 in geekbench 3 (32bit) with i5 DSDT i get 4090 score. The onlything it was that power management wasn't working.so always 2.77ghz  60*C idle(not good for cpu)

 

can you send this kext one more time and via Google Drive/Mega or something like that?

Remember to delete all ps2 kexts form S/L/E: ApplePS2 VoodooPS2.

 

Can anyone help me fix the sleep for el capitan with chameleon?

last my attempt shows that all you needed -- run kext utility and drag&drop this kext (i use yosemite, so don't know if it works in el capitan)

Hey,

I found what is the problem with sleep.

When i disable some USB kexts the sleep works.

But i don't know how to fix it, i think it's usb 3.0 the problem because:

When i plug anything in usb 3.0(even if i take it out after) when i try to shut down or reboot, it hangs like it hangs when i try to put it to sleep(black screen, usb power cut off, fans working )

And i don't think it s DSDT related because without DSDT sleep not work.(and on yosemite sleep worked without DSDT)

Dell Wireless 1702 can't run Continuity, for example, and has older versions of bluetooth and wi-fi (bt 3.0+hs, 802.11b/g/n). New card supports all new features of OS X 10.10 like Continuity and has new versions (bt4, 802.11 b/g/n/ac). 

 

So, this card (1702) works fine but without new features... and for me without 802.11n (don't know why)...

So my notebook is not able to send any content to iPhone (like pics)?

If I install yosemite won't airdrop function work?

If it is true it makes no sense to upgrade from mavericks to yosemite.

yeah, our Wi-Fi+BT card don't support airdrop and continuity. if you want this you should replace it with compatible card like azurewave aw-ce123h. if you'll do this then you'll have Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac support and Bluetooth 4.0
