hertz2006
Hi! Im using 10.4.7 JaS DVD with 10.4.7 AMD Patch (with Semjaza Decrypts). I also changed the kernel with one, downloaded from "reset not working" topic, cause my kernel just ignored "cpus=1" command... Now i dont understand if i use SSE3. Rosetta apps are working, but seems too slow. With "cpus=2" im getting stuttering, and "idlehalt=0" don't helps. This XBench results i get with 1 core (with 2 cores i get -345 xbenches Results 83.89 System Info Xbench Version 1.3 System Version 10.4.7 (8J2135a) Physical RAM 2048 MB Model ADP2,1 Drive Type WDC WD800BB-22DKA0 CPU Test 88.90 GCD Loop 135.43 7.14 Mops/sec Floating Point Basic 109.68 2.61 Gflop/sec vecLib FFT 54.53 1.80 Gflop/sec Floating Point Library 98.45 17.14 Mops/sec Thread Test 91.49 Computation 65.18 1.32 Mops/sec, 4 threads Lock Contention 153.42 6.60 Mlocks/sec, 4 threads Memory Test 147.39 System 136.93 Allocate 153.22 562.69 Kalloc/sec Fill 139.80 6797.27 MB/sec Copy 121.52 2510.05 MB/sec Stream 159.58 Copy 148.96 3076.62 MB/sec Scale 148.42 3066.29 MB/sec Add 173.00 3685.21 MB/sec Triad 171.41 3666.95 MB/sec Quartz Graphics Test 131.12 Line 102.23 6.81 Klines/sec [50% alpha] Rectangle 135.68 40.51 Krects/sec [50% alpha] Circle 127.49 10.39 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha] Bezier 129.19 3.26 Kbeziers/sec [50% alpha] Text 185.26 11.59 Kchars/sec OpenGL Graphics Test 47.43 Spinning Squares 47.43 60.17 frames/sec User Interface Test 176.19 Elements 176.19 808.62 refresh/sec Disk Test 49.76 Sequential 97.74 Uncached Write 92.41 56.74 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 89.08 50.40 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 112.78 33.00 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 99.89 50.20 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 33.38 Uncached Write 11.78 1.25 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 70.49 22.57 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 80.29 0.57 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 119.89 22.25 MB/sec [256K blocks] What im doing wrong? I cant open system profiler to see if im using SSE3 cause it gives an error in oveview screen... And i can't use 2 cores without shutters... Please AMD X2 users! Help me! Gdfath3r
Hello Hertz, I can understand your frustration, because I experienced your problem. I have an Opteron170 heavily OC-d, and is runnig just fine. Im using SSE2 kernel because in SSE3 I cannot use both cores, also I am using cpuidle=0. The problem seems to be in OC. My self I have assyncron OC and I found the STABLE setting for overclock...there is the key...it has to be stable....so try to overclock in that way to reduce the CPU multiplier and increase FSB, also watch for memory ratio. My case: Cpu: 9*310fsb memory @133.

Alec S.
hmm... very interesting... i have AMD X2 3800+ and i cannot reboot my system, so i can't install OS X. What should I do to make my system reboot (e.g. after installation of Mac OS X) My specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ ASUS A8N5X (nForce 4) 1 Gb PC3200 ATI X800 GTO

Alec S.
Now I'm using kernel patch and ACPI works fine.. still can't reboot, but can shut down! Also using "idlehalt=0 cpus=1" in Boot.plist for more reliability.
tjohnson
Now I'm using kernel patch and ACPI works fine.. still can't reboot, but can shut down! Also using "idlehalt=0 cpus=1" in Boot.plist for more reliability. Do a search for the reboot fix. it involves hacking the actual mach_kernel. Be VERY careful doing this. Also your stuttering on both cores can be fixed by replacing your kernel flags with "cpuidle=0" and reducing your cpu multiplier in the bios from 10 or auto to 9.5 or lower. Watch your memory timings. The thread is at "http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=7405'. It should be on page 7. Works for my 3800+.
