Frogger21
Hi there, I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to install Lion from scratch on my ASUS P5G41T-M LX based system for the past couple of days using this method from InsanelyMac. The problem is that no matter what I do, I get so far through the boot and then get a "Still waiting for root device" error like this: I've ensured that in the BIOS, Storage Configuration-->ATA/IDE Configuration-->[Enhanced] and Enhanced Mode Support On-->[s-ATA] and I've made sure that the drive's Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and has a GUID Partition Table. I've tried numerous reinstalls and I've even tried, out of desperation, unplugging the IDE DVD Rom drive in case that was causing some strange problem. My system: ASUS P5G41T-M LX Core 2 Duo 2 GB ram 9600GT Does anyone please have any ideas? I beginning to think I've wasted my money purchasing Lion Thanks for any help. Frogger21
Hi there, I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to install Lion from scratch on my ASUS P5G41T-M LX based system for the past couple of days using this method from InsanelyMac. The problem is that no matter what I do, I get so far through the boot and then get a "Still waiting for root device" error UPDATE: After some searching of forums, I've just found out that if I 'tab' in the boot screen and issue '-x' (safe mode?) it will boot! Obviously lots of things are missing in this mode and it still won't boot normally. Does this help with the diagnosis? Many thanks for any help. Frogger21
Wow! I'm really amazed that one of you many gurus here can't offer any suggestions. Or am I asking a stupid question... jeopardise
I managed to use the same motherboard using Snow Leopard 10.6.x on the very same motherboard with no problem booting ... However I cloned my other Hackintosh installation partition, installed Chameleon and use it on this motherboard. jeopardise
I forgot to mention that I am using iATKOS DVD to install macOSX. I managed to boot into the installer using the installer but due to a problem with Geforce 210, I just cloned my harddisk to save time, and I am surprised that it works just like that. Also I did the same thing to another computer with Core i3 system. I did this to save time and because i am using my office computer to test a developed system. I haven't tested Lion however. Perhaps it'll work if you install it on top of Snow Leopard. That's not gonna be a clean install unfortunately. jeopardise
I don't think nForceIOATAFamily.kext can be used on this computer since the motherboard is using Intel G41 chipset Hey bro, I think a guy here could get his board working with tonymac's Gxx disk http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=...6a&start=10 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/264859-asus-p5g41t-m-lx-lion-install/#findComment-1733017 Share on other sites

Hawk007
I have tried a few times to installed iATKOS S3 v2 (Snow Leopard 10.6.3) on my ASUS P5G41T-M LX but wasn't successful. In "customize" screen, I unticked the sound drivers, ticked the modified kernel Atom Kernel and the Ati Evo enabler in the VGA section. The installation went fine, but when it restarted, it just got stuck at "system uptime in nanoseconds: xxxxxxxx". Does anyone here have a hint for me ? Thanks. VTCop
Hi! I had the same problem after install Lion from my IDE DVD. The installation was good, but when the system boot for first time from my SATA HD I get "Still wating for root device" message. I disconect my IDE DVD and still the same message. My solution was change some parameters in the BIOS. Main -> Storage Configuration -> ATA/IDE Configuration -> Compatible Main -> Storage Configuration -> Legacy IDE Channels -> SATA Only With this configuration (and my IDE DVD disconected) my system boot up perfectly. I hope it solve your problems too. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/264859-asus-p5g41t-m-lx-lion-install/#findComment-1777886 Share on other sites
minko
Hello all I really don't understand why for some people it works flawlessly and for other not! I tried everything on this board to set it as AHCI but apparently with no luck. Hangs on the bootscreen.. I'm trying to find a mod Bios, this helped me with an older asus board. Installing with iAtkos L1 USB - but can't boot Installed on an other Mac then changed the drive to this board - Chameleon starts up, then black screen, no boot any idea?
