Hi verdant, I have a good news;

On my nForce PC I've able to boot from iATKOS L2 DVD & go to the installation process by using USB to IDE Converter Cable (without any CD/DVD Boot). Sounds good, but the problem is I can't see my HDD on Disk Utility (I have 3 Disks connected to the PC; 30 GB PATA HDD set as Primary Slave, and 2x320 GB SATA HDD).

 

Do U have any CD/DVD Boot that I can use for detecting my HDD for iATKOS L2? Please.., help me to fix this problem.

As I said before, your 630i MOBO may be fully AHCI compliant and also have a crippled BIOS..........if fully AHCI compliant, OS X cannot use AppleNForceATA.kext installed on your HDD OS X volume to "see" your HDDs..........and if the BIOS is crippled, then like users of Aspire M series desktops such as M3641, M564, you may be forced to run OS X from an external USB HDD.......

 

Also, most distros are designed around Intel chipset MOBOs not nForce chipset MOBOs.....you should follow a "manual route" to installing OS X......and if using an AppleNForceATA.kext in /Extra/Extensions/, or in /System/Library/Extensions/, does not work for you, then focus on these two topics:

When buying a standard PC such as a Lenovo ThinkCentre PC, remember they are generally designed around the corporate user who will be using Windows......

 

If you want to use OS X on a PC, start from the MOBO specification using IM as your "best" MOBO for OSx86 guide......focus on getting one with an Intel CPU MOBO whose Intel chipsets (i.e. Southbridge and Northbridge) are supported well by OS X........

 

If you do get an Intel CPU and Intel chipset MOBO, then my guide is no longer the best place for you to get help.........

1. Graphics Performance

 

OS X does not supported integrated shared RAM graphics pre-9000 series......nVidia GeForce 7050 uses shared memory.......it is not supported by OS X, so you cannot get full CI/QE with it........

 

Run in basic VESA mode with your native display resolution set in com.apple.Boot.plist, by doing as follows:

 

After rebooting by typing -s at the boot: prompt and waiting for the prompt

:/ root# to appear, type each of the following lines, followed by Enter and then waiting for :/ root# to re-appear:

 

mount -uw /
cd /System/Library/Extensions
mv GeForce.kext GeForce.kext.orig
mv NVDAResman.kext NVDAResman.kext.orig
mv NVDANV50Hal.kext NVDANV50Hal.kext.orig
mv NVDANV40Hal.kext NVDANV40Hal.kext.orig
mv NVDANV30Hal.kext NVDANV30Hal.kext.orig

"logout" will then appear on screen followed by "Jettisoning kernel linker" and the rest of the verbose booting screen, resulting in successful booting into the OS X Welcome screen and music.....

 

The System Profiler shows under Graphics/Displays, 1024x768 resolution 32-bit Color depth and 32MB VRAM with Software Driven CI and QE Not Supported, and against Kernel Extension Info: No kext loaded

 

Modify the com.apple.Boot.plist file as follows:

 

1. Go to the Terminal, and at the $ prompt, type in

 

sudo nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

 

2. Enter your password when requested. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the cursor within the Terminal window.

 

3. Type in (without any spaces anywhere except where there are spaces)

 

"Graphics Mode"="1280x1080x32@60" BUT as I said using your display resolution.....

between <string> and </string> under <key>Kernel Flags</key>.

 

4. Move the cursor the Terminal window down until it no longer moves, then press Ctrl O and then Enter, to save the modified com.apple.Boot.plist file.

 

5. Press Ctrl X to Exit and type

 

and install no nVidia injector kext, or EFI graphics string, and do not set Chameleon bootloader GraphicsEnabler to Yes.....

 

Or, get an nVidia graphics card supported by OS X.....

 

 

2. Audio with ALC888

But, the problem now, I got my Graphics performance running on more & more slowly than before. At first time I've boot the OSX I saw on About This Mac - Display Info that my shared graphics has 256 MB VRAM. Suddenly, It became just 3 MB VRAM and now my OSX running like "a walking baby..."

As I said OS X does not support your 7050 onboard integrated GPU using shared MOBO RAM and so you will not be able set up Core Image and Quartz Extreme functionality.......

 

Have you checked in your BIOS to see how much RAM is allocated to video.....?

 

My recommendation is to get a PCI-e graphics card that is supported by OS X.

(But, I don't know after my Graphics was upgraded is my nForce still supported by OS X Lion or not, the PATA/SATA HDD + DVD..., we will see next time, OK? Then, I would like to ask your guides again.. ).

I believe it is OK with Snow Leopard (according to Krishna21 for example) but some users have reported some problems with their 8400GS and OS X Lion............use the IM search function and/or Google to check on any graphics card, e.g. 8400GS that you are interested in, to see how easy it is to get it working 100% with CI/QE etc. in OS X Lion......

okay so i make a new USB session^^

changed the boot file in the root directory and tested all USB Slots, with one of it it works... Lion is installed^^

I hope either the boot file or the FakeSMC.kext or both together work for you.....if not, it is not immediately obvious what else you could try......be sure to sort out the ownership and permissions for the USB flash drive installer and the target OS X HDD volume.......

i tested it with this bootflag, but in SL I get still waiting for root device and in Lion KernelPanic (IntelCpu...)

 

but what i will do next (after today, because to night I need my SL to watch movies) is to format the whole volume, make 2 partions:

1) Lion

2) SnowLeaopard ( and later, if Lion works correlty, Windows 7)

 

(i have to do this on 1 Volume, becuase my other volumes are toooooo slow^^)

 

because maybe then it works better with it, and SnowLeopard I can install in Minutes without Problems with the boot dvd from Hazard

USB cardreaders can be and are often a problem........but see here......

 

As for your graphics,

 

1. Ignore 'NVEnabler :: Probe Fails' messages at bootup

 

2. Use either NVEnabler64.kext alone or Graphics Enabler = Yes in Boot.plist file but not both together......
