Alex Oughton
Yesterday brought news that Google’s Chief Executive Officer, Eric Schmidt, has been appointed to Apple’s board. Steve Jobs has been quoted as saying “We look forward to his contributions as a member of Apple’s board of directors. Like Apple, Google is very focused on innovation and we think Eric’s insights and experience will be very valuable in helping to guide Apple in the years ahead.” The move suggests a growing alliance between the two companies, as Schmidt joins Apple- a company he describes as “one of the companies in the world I most admire”. Schmidt became Google CEO in 2001, after previously working for both Novell and Sun.

With Microsoft having .Mac like abilities with their upcoming LifeDrive, free, Google have the resources and tecnology with their GMail storage etc to make a .Mac service. dtm3dd
Wow - I like the idea of a google .mac replacement. Im not sure Google OS would be MacOS but perhaps it would be the first OS to be offered by Apple on a Mac other than MacOS - Who knows.
