atlee
Regarding errors I personally think those errors due to the new chameleon versions, think it's a bug because I get full resolution and QE/CI because I force my EDID under /System/Library/Displays/Overrides. All kexts load: Also regarding the audio, also a chameleon issue, VoodooHDA runs fine, I'm currently working on a patched AppleHDA that should work with my IDT audio. i'm sure the errors can go away, i guess the overnight builds i'm building have bugs but I like freshly baked you can always go back to more stable builds. I can build a more solid chameleon without errors if you like? What exactly is the advantage of your boot file with the edited ATI Hardware ID above the original boot file ? I'm new to OS X and the whole mackintosh 'thing'. Is it just a upgrade to make it work with the newer Chameleon release? Sorry for my Noobness. Without your hardware ID, your card will not activate and won't be able to be used, when it activates the card it tells OSX to look for example 68C1 and to load all four kexts relating with that ID. atlee
Don't use v1332, the card goes to unsupported, 1331 works. To make things simpler for everyone I will just compile Chimera r877 with ATI ID edits. stable version have it up shortly

Thanks! I think I understand it a little bit now . When I look into System Profiler it says device code: '0x68c1' . So that means that my card is already activated , yes? And another question. Is it true that we are not able to run 64-bit kernel because of our cards? When I ooh into System Profiler it says: '64-bits kernel and extensions: No' Or did you manage to boot in 64-bit? To make things simpler for everyone I will just compile Chimera r877 with ATI ID edits. stable version have it up shortly Thanks atlee, I am currently using r875 with forced edid and it's working ok full res and qe/ci, but if you re-compile Chimera r877 I have a go and try it. Later chameleon r1xxx don't work properly or i'm not installing it right (usually just copy boot file to root). Regards.

atlee
Can i get Chimera 877 source please, the Source that i have is rev.1259. I want to recompile my own boot file... I have compiled v1350 chimera, wondering why 5650's are unsupported compared to 1331, will have to mess around a little got all night though so will be back and forth. will be back. Thanks atlee, I am currently using r875 with forced edid and it's working ok full res and qe/ci, but if you re-compile Chimera r877 I have a go and try it. Later chameleon r1xxx don't work properly or i'm not installing it right (usually just copy boot file to root). Regards. I will just use the latest as there are so many changes in these 1xxx builds, example is changing from com.apple.boot.plist to org.chameleon.boot.plist from v1332. Maybe AtiConfig works in so many builds. Might have to do a little research
atlee
TESTED AND WORKS 100% Errors due to Chameleon RC5 1xxx versions i think, correct me if i'm wrong, but all kexts load. GOTO System Preferences > Mission Control Untick Show Dashboard as a space. Now goto Dashboard and drag and drop widget You should get ripple effect 1350_boot_subsys1448.zip 5650m_0x033E1025.zip

atlee
Hi atlee ! I have almost the same laptop as you (HPDV6 3194SF), but with the same hardwares and I was wondering how did you managed to obtain 4 cores functionals ? I compiled my own version of the Lion kernel with a patch fix or just use Taptuns which you'll find in Mammoths HP DvX series posts, do a search Hi atlee ! I have almost the same laptop as you (HPDV6 3194SF), but with the same hardwares and I was wondering how did you managed to obtain 4 cores functionals ? What soundcard is in your machine a IDT 92HD81B1X? using VoodooHDA or patched your own AppleHDA? Bluetooth? Have you tested it after patching your DSDT? I can Restart and Shutdown fine, cannot press F9 to goto boot menu because buttons are locked until switching off power. Due to CMOS i think. but CMOS 0x02 fix don't seem to budge this issue. Sleep would love to know? DSDT edit or Sleepenabler? or sleep script? Anyway I'm working at each of these trying to find a work around, also trying to fix LPCB (Low Pin Count, Cooler CPU temps and makes CPU go into Turbo ratio mode instead of being stuck at Ratio of 12.) alfaleader
Hi I have a HP DV7-4050eb (i5 430M dualcore, 5650M) and want to install osx. But when I try to install OSX (##### 3, cpus=1 flag) it installs good. Reboot with ##### 3, to osx configuration, then osx homescreen. Update to 10.6.8 with combo updater. But when I install a bootloader (chimera, chameleon) and try to reboot, it gets stuck and reboots. Tried cpus=1 busratio=17 arch=x86_32 -v -x ... The last line on -v where it reboots is something with "loading darwin x86_64". Do I have to do something else? UPDATE: got it working till the scrambled graphics part So I got it installed to 10.6.8 fine, now only the HD5650M and edid problems How do you get the right EDID? I don't understand what part to use. Used a windows program and got this (in hex) :2000000000FFFFFFFFFFFF0030E47A020000000000130103802615780AA8C09D58509A2695 :200020001C5054000000010101010101010101010101010101012F2640B860840C30303023 :2000400023007ED710000019000000000000000000000000000000000000000000FE000001 :2000600000004C47446973706C61790A000000FE004C503137335744312D544C433300C207 :00000001FF and EDID DATA 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F ---------------------------------------------------- 00: 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 30 E4 7A 02 00 00 00 00 10: 00 13 01 03 80 26 15 78 0A A8 C0 9D 58 50 9A 26 20: 1C 50 54 00 00 00 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 30: 01 01 01 01 01 01 2F 26 40 B8 60 84 0C 30 30 30 40: 23 00 7E D7 10 00 00 19 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 50: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FE 00 00 60: 00 00 4C 47 44 69 73 70 6C 61 79 0A 00 00 00 FE 70: 00 4C 50 31 37 33 57 44 31 2D 54 4C 43 33 00 C2 80: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 90: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 A0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 C0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 D0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 E0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 F0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 PixelClock = 97,75 HorizontalActive = 1600 HorizontalFrontPorch = 48 HorizontalBlanking = 184 HorizontalSyncPulseWidth = 48 HorizontalPolarity = False VerticalActive = 900 VerticalFrontPorch = 2 VerticalBlanking = 12 VerticalSyncPulseWidth = 3 VerticalPolarity = False What should I use for the edid stuff? Acer uses the other one I created. Now Chameleon RC5 needs to be installed, Replace the boot file with mine to the / root of MacOSX drive. This is just the first step. Next step is forcing your EDID now why do you have to do this step? well thats the easy part to answer as our laptops not specific to Apple's hardware does not recognise the resolutions, colour profile and any settings monitor wise. Apple's displays are 1344/14xx resolution, and our's due to being designed for Windows are either 1280 or 1366. Get a program called moninfo run it in Windows, has to be a proper windows environment and not a virtualised environment. Copy the EDID data, save it to a txt file, save it to usb. load MacOSX. now goto /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-756e6b6e/>>>DisplayProductID-717<<< Copy that file >>> <<< within the arrows to the desktop. Open the file with PlistEdit Pro or something similar. Change the edid information from what they have their to yours. Save it, copy from desktop to: /System/Library/Displays/Overrides/DisplayVendorID-756e6b6e/ Enter pass, overwrite the existing file. Reboot and your card will be supported by chameleon and also when it goes to login your screen will scramble for 1 sec then read the override file and unscramble. You should have Full resolution 1366x768 or something similar and also have QE/CI. ***Please note*** you cannot just copy someones EDID because all EDID's are different, If I have a HP DV6-3132TX and let's say a company called jungle manufactured my display and you also had a DV6-3132TX which in theory is the same model but a company called santaclaus manufactured your screen then the EDID's will be different.*** If you copy someones EDID and this process doesn't work then your EDID is wrong. When running moninfo disconnect all external monitors, this way you will not mix up what EDID data you are copying. hope this clears it up for everyone. There is a second option to use SwitchResX and force a resolution of 1366x768 if you do not wish to take the EDID path... @alfaleader this is your EDID in raw format >>> 00: 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 30 E4 7A 02 00 00 00 00 10: 00 13 01 03 80 26 15 78 0A A8 C0 9D 58 50 9A 26 20: 1C 50 54 00 00 00 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 30: 01 01 01 01 01 01 2F 26 40 B8 60 84 0C 30 30 30 40: 23 00 7E D7 10 00 00 19 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 50: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FE 00 00 60: 00 00 4C 47 44 69 73 70 6C 61 79 0A 00 00 00 FE 70: 00 4C 50 31 37 33 57 44 31 2D 54 4C 43 33 00 C2 80: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 90: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 A0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 B0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 C0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 D0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 E0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 F0: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 This is your EDID in what format you need >>> 00,FF,FF,FF,FF,FF,FF,00,30,E4,7A,02,00,00,00,00 ,00,13,01,03,80,26,15,78,0A,A8,C0,9D,58,50,9A,26 ,1C,50,54,00,00,00,01,01,01,01,01,01,01,01,01,01 ,01,01,01,01,01,01,2F,26,40,B8,60,84,0C,30,30,30 ,23,00,7E,D7,10,00,00,19,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00, 00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,FE,00,00 ,00,00,4C,47,44,69,73,70,6C,61,79,0A,00,00,00,FE ,00,4C,50,31,37,33,57,44,31,2D,54,4C,43,33,00,C2 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 You can remove all this too>>> as it contains no data. so 16 digits x horizontal, 8x lines down, so you would stop at C2. remove all below 00,00's. ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 The first column 00: all the way to F0: you cut off. hope this helps. no spaces, removed and replaced by commas with no spaces. atlee
Thanks! Just got another problem, the replacement of the boot file doesn't work with chameleon installer. (stays at detecting partitions and mounting points). it's a boot file. copy it to your desktop and follow my directions. Open terminal cd to your Desktop directory sudo cp boot / if you have more then one OS on your drive then sudo cp boot /Volumes/nameofliondrive enter pass, all done reboot. make sure before copying this boot file that you already have a previous chameleon RC5 installed. this boot file will just change the version of the RC5 to a newer release. Remove all the Zero's below C2 so you should have an edid like this: 00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 30 E4 7A 02 00 00 00 00 00 13 01 03 80 26 15 78 0A A8 C0 9D 58 50 9A 26 1C 50 54 00 00 00 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 2F 26 40 B8 60 84 0C 30 30 30 23 00 7E D7 10 00 00 19 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 FE 00 00 00 00 4C 47 44 69 73 70 6C 61 79 0A 00 00 00 FE 00 4C 50 31 37 33 57 44 31 2D 54 4C 43 33 00 C2 And hell yes i'm running 10.7.1 same method as always, currently using boot file 1436 or something like that Chimera. 10.7.1 did not effect drivers, miniature update compared to what 10.7.2 will be. Also please READ instructions, my EDID is not your EDID, everyone is different especially if you have an Acer laptop and I have a HP.
Lucas Twisk
@atlee Today I updated to 10.7.1 and ran ##### again. I replaced the older boot file with the newer one (I've got almost the same Acer notebook). The first time I booted I got an error: /extra/com.apple.boot.plist is depreciated. Please use the file /extra/org.chameleon.boot.plist instead. Press a key to continue.... I changed the name of the com.apple.boot.plist in org.chameleon.boot.plist and everything seemed fine at the beginning (good resolution and the 'ripple effect' ). But every time I go in sleep mode, or even shutdown/restart my notebook it gives a KP (no code is shown but the screen is grayed out and a message shows up in 6 different languages, it says: You have to turn of the computer, please hold down the power button until...... etc). I thought maybe it has something to do with 'hibernating' , so I disabled the hibernate mode and deleted the sleepimage using terminal. But still the same problem. And every time I boot 'normally' after the KP the whole notebook freezes. But when I boot with boot flag -f, everything seems fine again. I replaced the older boot file back, and everything is working like it was before. I still get some message: Hibernate image is to old by .... seconds. Please type ForceWake=y to override, or something. (chameleon is looking at the wrong place for the sleepimage) This is easy to fix by adding WakeImage= /var/vm/sleepimage to the com.apple.boot.plist. Did I do something wrong, or is the acer boot-file corrupt?

But sleep enabler kext are nasty. if your system does not move from the desk then do not make it sleep.

And every time I boot again after a KP WITHOUT the boot-flag -f the whole system freezes. And when I boot with -f everything seems to function normal again, until I go in sleep-mode/restart/shutdown (when I get KP again.) Not a very big problem, but it's strange. Because I am able to reboot/shutdown the notebook normally with the older boot file Maybe I should try to replace the boot file again for a second try. If you have a DSDT which is modified in the correct way for Shutdown and Restart, Sleep then you should not have these issues. Check your Consoles and trace the KP back to either it's driver .kext or hardware or software con flicts. Thorough check the console to watch for errors messages, isolate the problem then I might be able to help. Hi I have this problem when i try to load up the graphics card. Thank you very much! Hybrid graphics, dual video switchable videocards, If you can find a way to disable your intel card then your ati will load and vice versa if it's implemented right, do a little search about switchable gfx. you cannot run both i dont think. 5650 owners, read this pleasehttp://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1738579 especially atlee Need help with HDMI. Gizmonder HDMI dont think will working via Eulemur, Hoolock, Baboon and another one not sure of it yet when it comes to my mind unless you edit the connection config, for e.g. following bcc9's lovely guide. Try Uakari that's what I use as it gives me dual outlet screens VGA + LVDS. Uakari would probably give you success if you edited it's connection map, im sure Bcc9 will love to explain and i'm pretty sure he also used Uakari to make all his connections work. I have not done this for a while so i might give it a shot while im having my coffee, been busy lately fixing computers as i run a comp business fixing stuff so sometimes I do not have time and also finishing off a uni degree along with 2 little kids so I am getting quite busy. But i will see where I can help here and there but Bcc9 is legendary at this stuff when it comes to programming side.
