you are not done yet,,you need a better stepper.the one from macbookpro 8.3 works good for me.

you can either choose it in your smbios or use this:

IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext.zip

it's from ML dp3

to get more pstates.at least this is how it works on my system..i don't like the idea of jumping from 1.6 to 3.1 Ghz.

backup your original kext and try it.

this is what i get with a patched stepper in ML dp3: PStatesReached: 16 19 23 27 31 32 33 34

No nVidia.. it is a normal line with the new Chameleon versions.

 

I have tested speedstep inside Windows 7 Prof. and also having the same problem there.

It goes from 1600Mhz to 3.1Ghz and then goes up to 3.4Ghz, and then drops again to 1600Mhz.

 

I'm missing all the steps between the switching to the highest normal speed (3.4Ghz). Is this normal?

I think this is a MB issue? I have a P8H67-M Pro B3.

For everyone who has a Core i5 2500, (non K), I leave here a link to my SpeedStep Setup ... my SSDT and an iMac12,1.plist to put inside of IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext / Contents / Plugins / ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext / Contents / Resources

(This iMac12,1.plist, in fact, is nothing more than a MacBookPro8.3 StepData copied to an iMac12,1.plist StepData)

 

My score with this setup is: (Using iMac12,1 at SMBios.plist)

 

Geekbench = 9830

Cinebench OSX CPU Test = 5.14

Cinebench OSX OPENGL Test = 45.54

PStates Reached: 16/20/24/29/33/34/35/36/37

 

I only use DropSSDT - YES

I believe the guys over at tonymac have been dealing with this. They have created an SSDT for it and it fixes the speed step issue on 10.7.4
