night_mare007
Hello, I have i7 720QM. As long as I can remember my snow, no matter what, I get a corrupt CPU values read using CPU-X: - 16 thread instead of 8 - 1075Mhz BUS SPEED instead of 133 Mhz - x1 Multiplier instead of the normal x12 or any higher value under load with Windows 7..... The problem exist with and without boot options like CPUS=4, BUSRATIO=12, FSB=133. I'd tried many combinations and every time it's just worst then the auto scanning of the chameleon it self. I think even I got SpeedStep working under this weird values... Moreover, when I load iPC 10.5.6 boot cd - the values are OK ! ( BusSpeed is 133, multiplier is 12... ) Maybe its something to do with smbios.plist / Chameleon bootloader ( tried many rev and no change ) / Boot switches ? I attach CPU-Z from windows 7 ( which is 100% alright ) and CPU-X & MSR-TOOL from OSX 10.6.7 (without any special boot switches)... WHAT IS WRONGS ?! WHY ARE THOSE VALUE AREN"T RIGH"T ? night_mare007
WHAT IS WRONGS ?! WHY ARE THOSE VALUE AREN"T RIGH"T ? Frak ! Frak ! Frak ! It's Chameleon v2 RC 5 !!!! I've installed RC 4 Rev 684 and the CPU values are OK !!! 133Mhz + x12 Mutliplier... BUT - I have problems waking after sleep with this version ! on RC5 (rev 921)it's working perfect ! WHY ?!?! [EDIT] Ok... Someone from voodooprojects.org told me to check "dmesg" - and of course I needed to put back RC5 - so I'm back to to that with Rev921. I've output the dmesg report to the attached txt file... Could please someone that FAMILIAR with that report can confirm that i'm running at BusSpeed of 133Mhz@12 Multiplier ? and also could confirm if SpeedStep & Cstates works ? bdmesg.txt
night_mare007
So... as I suspected it had something to do with Chameleon bootloader and its version. I've post a "Issue" under one of the developer's site and he comment about my current v2 RC5 Rev 921 that: your bdmesg shows everything fine. The cpu part and the SMBIOS part.i dont' think you truly have a problem. YIPI !!! He also stated that: CPU-X and MSRTools are not reliable, please check your bdmesg. So i've download one of the "Compiled binaries for manual install" from our forum's "Chameleon 2 RC5 Unofficial thread", and then I "Copy the the executable bdmesg into /usr/sbin for the Boot dump tool" (as wrote in that thread ) and run that command using Terminal. This BMESG apparently one of the only TRUE way to get CORRECT CPU values ! (While CPU-X & MSRTools AREN'T ALWAYS precise !!!) So right now I have the correct BusSpeed&Multipier and also got back my SLEEP feature fully working !! ;) All's Well That Ends Well...
