juan_cl
i think for osx86 to advance we should drop support for proccesors other than the dual core ones. This will make hacking easier, and thus better releases of osx86.
bofors
I think the real issue will be HPET. Only HPET procoessors (as opposed to RTC Pentiums), Core Duo (Yonah) and above may above may supported in the future. I do not know what this means for AMD fanboys. juan_cl
maybe non hpet users and amd users will have to use an old kernel. We should focus our work on core duo processors as they are the future.
juan_cl
it will make life easier(also macefix86 will make life even easier)
juan_cl
anyone up to the challenge
SenVa
Well the problem is that you would need people who have core duos that are not in a real mac. I guess all "4" of you guys can get that going... but in the meantime the rest of us will do what we need to so our computes are supported. juan_cl
we could do core duo and non core duo versions
juan_cl
anyone????
rogabean
The general opinion around here is most likely going to be no. If people were willing to go out and buy new Core Duos for this project... they'd prolly just buy a Mac. The rest just want it to work on what they have. Joe The Dragon
maybe non hpet users and amd users will have to use an old kernel. Colonel
I'd say that the majority of the people here still have single core processors, so I don't know if dropping support for single core processors would be such a good idea. What about people with Core Solos?

Bofors I can see HPET available on my motherboard D945GNTL with latest bios with my Pentium 4 650 so have you tryied flashing your motherboard recently? bofors
Because the 945 chipset supports Core 2 Duo, we know it supports HPET. I think there is still a question about whether HPET works with the Pentiums or not. However, your report certainly suggests it does. The real test here would be running an HPET OSx86 kernel. enb14
Yes, we need to make some tests with kernels from 10.4.5 and newers and see what we get
