hackcat
The 88E1116 is not in the Yukon family of products, it is likely the drivers for Yukon won't work. Marvell Alaska single port product page.. I have a GA-M55SLI-S4 motherboard with that same PHY, and I gave up and bought a pci Belkin F5D5000 which I found uses the Realtek 8139 chipset. I wish I could modify the Wiki to point that out. I bought that NIC for the OS X drivers included, but those don't work for me with 10.4.10. As for the 88E1116 it isn't an ethernet controller, just a PHY (Physical Interface), in all likelihood yours is an nForce mobo. The forcedeth driver is what needs to be tweaked to get the 88E1116 working. On my mobo, the forcedeth driver finds and identifies the PHY but it doesn't initialize. bornagainpenguin
Hey guys! Long time no post, but I just picked up a Netgear WG111v2 over at TigerDirect and managed to get it to work in (JAS) OSX86 10.4.7 using the Realtek RTL8187L drivers! (Scroll down for the universal binary...) I am unable to connect due to the network in my home area being secured and I haven't installed my own router just yet, but I was still able to pick up the network using the Realtek utility!!!! Once I get my router up and running again I'm going to be wiping my hard drive and trying to install the latest SEE2 capable OSX86 release on my Inspiron5100 and see if I can make it a permanent Hackintosh until I can raise the cash needed to buy one from the Apple store. I just started a new job so I'm hoping that won't be as long as it looks. LOL! --bornagainpenguin

Dan O
major novice question, sorry... I am trying to load 10.4.9 uphuck DVD on a IBM Thinkpad T43 (2668-NU3). Works great, except: 1. Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit ethernet card 2. Intel Pro/Wireless 2915ABG NIC The wiki has the T43 listed as: Thinkpad T43 - JaS 10.4.8 SSE3 DVD (semthex kernel) - Intel Pentium M 750 - 60GB 5400rpm HDD - SATA controller recognised and working correctly - 64MB ATI Radeon X300 - recognised as PCIe card, resolution can be set in com.apple.Boot.plist - CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner - recognised correctly - Intel 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI) - recognised as airport - Bluetooth - works correctly - Modem(CDC) - doesn't work - 1Gb Ethernet(LOM) - Broadcom chip, works with a lot of fix (insainelymac.com) - UltraNav - works correctly - AC97 audio - works So am I just using the wrong DVD??? Would 10.4.8 work better? Thanks in advance, Dan
Skitals
I struggled for 4 days trying to get my on-board NIC working. Finally gave up and bought the cheapest NIC at staples -- Linksys LNE100TX. Plugged it in, booted OSX, loaded the Tulip driver, and I was on the net. Best $15 I've spent. There are probably better/cheaper cards you can buy on the net, but stores are carrying less and less wired network cards. This is the cheapest one I found in a local store, and it works perfect. If you want instant gratification and have a Staples near by, I recommend it.
motrek
I have an "old" MSI socket 754 motherboard (Neo? FISR? can't remember) with on-board Realtek. It reports itself as "Realtek RTL8110S/8169S" on boot. 10.4.8 did NOT recognize/enable it. I did not try to troubleshoot as my video card is a Radeon 9600 and that didn't work either, so OS X will have to wait until my next computer in a few months. XandeR77
I have a Realtek 8149 (I think) fast ethernet family on-board adaptor. I have been using OS X x86 for a while now using this ethernet adaptor perfectly. About last week I tried installing vista on another hd and unpluged my OS X drive. Now when I go back to OS X it cant seam to connect to the router. The orange light is on, on the back of the pc but the light on the router does not come on and it cant get an ip from the router. I can boot back into windows and it will work. The lights on router will come on etc. Has anybody got any idea as to what i could do about this? I have just tried re-installing and its still not working. Thanks.
Wrenbird
Can some of you list network cards that you have working (native), I can't seem to get mine to show up so I'll go pick one up at the store. My old old old HP EN1207D-TX PCI Ethernet adapter works(I pulled it out of an 8 or 9 year old HP pavilion) i believe its based on the rtl8139 vendor ID is 1113 device ID is 1211 i was deperate because i couldnt get the nforce ethernert working or my airpace wifi adapter, so i put this in, and it worked. my facial expression pretty much matched this

mschilling
I'm looking for a mini PCI wireless card that will work with both Linux and Mac os x86 on my Dell D600. Ralink lists drivers for both os, and I assume Windows would work with it too. Would any wireless card with a Ralink chipset work? I was looking at the RT2560F for example (there is a Benq one with that chip).
devilhood
So are there any actual PCI based desktop wireless Draft-N card that 100% work well? because I have read many reviews specifically to do with the Belkin and Linksys offerings and people have been saying that performance is generally atrocious. I was tempted by the WMP300N but apparently even after the firmware upgrade it is still intermittent and does not achieve expected speeds.
viper24
I am running a Lenovo ThinkPad X60 with the intel 3945abg. I still have faith in the developers workingon that project so i dont want to tear into my tablet and replace the card with an atheros. I am running 10.4.9, just wondering if anyone knows of a USB or PCMCIA card that will run. I have been browsing around for a few hours and cant really find a solid PCMCIA card that everyone likes... thanks!
viper24
I just was at target with some of my buddies and i stumbled across a Belkin G+ MIMO wireless USB adapter. Part #F5D9050. I ran the install CD and just like that I had full internet. No problems, saves wireless profiles. I would reccommend this to anyone with a laptop or desktop. its cheap (around $40 or $50) and is available everywhere. It came with a docking station so you dont have to have a little stick sticking out all of the time. i hope this might help you guys somewhat. acumos
Broadcom 440x works with Uphuck 10.4.9 1.4i r3 in my HP nx6310. I used the patch suggested by the installer. The only strange thing is that if I reboot the laptop without pulling out the power cord the network card doesn't work. Marvell Yukon 88E8001 on my P4P800-E fully works with Uphuck 10.4.9 1.4i r3 with the patch suggested by the installer.
