DoiX
9TS emulates 9 speed ranks (2.1/2.2...2.9ghz) performance is increased this way but temperature also, because every minor action can trigger the CPU to its max TS (like on windows) so if you use 9TS and you see the temp being over 75ºC i suggest you use the 3TS one (or get a cooling pad) which adds 2.0 - 2.4 - 2.9 ghz steps, making it harder for normal apps to trigger the max TS, hence performance is reduced under normal circumstances (browsing, music, messaging and what not) so will be the temperature. As for the audio and trackpad, delete kernelcache from /S/L/Caches/com.apple.kext.startup/Startup/ reinstall with the auto installer, then go to Disk utility and click repair permissions (or do the same with kext wizard doesn't matter). Btw i hope you are not booting with rBoot LE CD... you only need to do that during the first boot so you can install everything you need in order to boot without it
dominusdj
Ok thanks, so the PC does not work either, I try to reinstall everything iAktos. To boot I know that rBoot is only for the first time
dominusdj
the result is as before. From list nothing works unfortunately. probably I have to delete something else? I'm one step away from the end
AKennedy_4
Hi DoiX, I tried to get Speedstepping working by installing the patches via the package. But I get an unable ot get AICPUPM to install correctly Just thought I'd update you on trying to solve the audio problem. I went to my kernel log in console and extracted this. It appears the AppleIntelHDGraphics, IOGraphicsFamily, AppleHDAController, AppleHDA, and AudioAUUC wont load correctly. Any thoughts? What about HEX editing my DSDT. I found this guide but not sure how I would plug in my PNPID to the DSDT. Any help would be appreciated! DoiX
@futuregator15, my package still has problems fixing permissions on some systems, thx for reporting it. Just use kext utility after installing with the package. The console messages lead me to think that the kext permissions are wrong or that dependencies are missing... Let's try this, copy my kernelcache to S/L/E/Caches/com... you know where http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16173714/kernelcache.zip as for DSDT editing tut, maybe tomorrow if i have time. AKennedy_4
This is weird. If I install delete kernelcache, install kext, use kext utility, copy your cache and manually rebuild extensions.mkext, I reboot to no graphics but I have audio. If I rebuild extensions through next wizard and repair permissions with disk utility (It repairs a bunch), I reboot with graphics but not audio
DoiX
Hmph, with sound working, install these http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16173714/Archive%202.zip and please right click on your root partition > get info and tell me what it says under permissions (admin/system/austin ?) AKennedy_4
Installed the kexts, rebuilt cache with kext utility, rebuilt mkext. Reboot and had graphics without audio.. As for permissions. DoiX
I sincerely think it's time to reinstall... fresh start check the picture in the tutorial, select only what is selected there nothing extra or less. After installing and booting, use ##### to install proper smbios (8,1 you can modify it to 8,2 after) then use my package installer (flawed as it is atm) install everything including speedstep, use disk utility to repair disk permissions then use kext utility. reboot -v UseKernelCache=Yes GraphicsEnabler=No and pray. If the booting off the DVD is too slow, you can either try burning iatkos again on a sony or verbatim dvd or using your curent install restore the image to a free partition (if you have one). rndlgna
I just realized that my l502x can't detect some devices via usb (my usb mouse, ipod 4g and iphone 3g) but it can detect my usb keyboard, usb flashdisk, and usb harddrive. . i've tried several USB 3.0 drivers from this forum (lacie patched by modbin) but I can't seem to fix it does anyone know how to fix this? or maybe just tell me how you guys manage to make your usb 3.0 work? and if anyone having problem with realtek 8168 LAN card (just like mine, sometimes it just cant get its full speed), install the kext I attached to fix it (I got it from realtek's official site) and dont forget to remove the previous kext (rtl1000.kext/realtek81xx.kext/etc) AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext.zip
dominusdj
Hi, this advice is for me or futuregator15? I tried to reinstall everything last night, as he explains his guide and everything works except the sound card, temperature, multitouch of trackpad; then I can not understand if the speedtest was put into operation or not. Thnks
DoiX
@dominusdj it was for futuregator, sound problem is understandable but the others are not, kexts are working you just need to properly install them... @rndigna, i think your problem is caused by DSDT, maybe UHCI method.. i'm not sure, everything is working on on my usb3 except some ocasional kernel panics when i remove different peripherals from usb3 ports. -Using the standard NES/modbin PHCIDX (USB3 driver)
dominusdj
OK then what should I do for sound? I can also wait for the rest, is not as important as sound. Probably I have to install or delete some kext or write some code on startup?
AKennedy_4
Hey guys, Thanks for the help and all the replies! This is a very active thead lol @Doix believe it or not I've reinstalled multiple time nd each time it's the same result. But I'll try again because I have done some modifications since the last reinstall @luke thanks for that. What did you modify in the DSDT?
burrows1980
Hi, Had another attempt at installing iAtkos L1 tonight, downloaded from link off the iAtkos site, used Transmac to burn it to Verbatim DVD+R dvd, and also burned a fresh copy at a slow speed of rBoot LE. Used the following flags -v GraphicsEnabler=No busratio=23, seems to be taking an age installing, now its got to this part: </P> <P>CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page (0x...........): p=2271[opendirectoryd]clearing CS_VALID</P> <P> Adds another line every few seconds incresing in value p= bit, jumping up say from 2271, 2279, 2285 etc Is this normal? taking ages, didnt do this on the previous attempts... not as if the previous attempts worked mind! DoiX
@dominusdj atm i'm busy with work, in a couple of days i will be done and i'll release a proper tool to install everything. @futuregator15, good luck so far im out of ideas.. again @burrows1980, that used to happen to me on my old AMD machine with leopard... it usually booted in the installer after 15-30 minutes, do you have the DVD or Bluray version? burrows1980
@burrows1980, that used to happen to me on my old AMD machine with leopard... it usually booted in the installer after 15-30 minutes, do you have the DVD or Bluray version? Its the DVD version, I ended up turning it off after well over an hour, think it was up to 3457... Will try again tomorrow, see what happens. Is this line ok or do I need to add anything else in rBoot LE: -v GraphicsEnabler=No cpus=1 busratio=23 Thanks Gaz
DoiX
Thats the correct line, some people managed to book iatkos dvd without rBoot LE, they only used it to boot the os after installation.

darren cox
Thanks to everyone helping with this. I have the XPS 15 l502x with the FHD screen and bluray, VERY tempted to install OSX on this I miss my mac... With just the intel graphics working we basically have a basic macbook pro equivalent right? For those with it working do the following work OK Wifi - Assuming i replace the card Screen Accelerated (QE etc) graphics Apps etc? Sound Sleep HDMI out And whats the speed like? Have been reading the thread, think will try it in the next few days myself but just wondering if i'll be left with a fully usable machine (Never use bluray so not worried about that)
DoiX
#darren cox, screen, graphics, apps, sound, sleep work, hdmi i assume it does, i'm only using a mini dp > vga cable The speed is slightly higher than the equivalent macbook pro (i7 = 8,2) based on what i've found on some internet sites. If you are lucky it will fully work with the first try, if not you'll have to bang your head against the wall for some more tries to get it working properly . Blue-ray i have no idea about it, i guess it should work ok if real mpb have it...
burrows1980
How come some XPS L502x's can install iAtkos L1 or SL fine but others cant? Ive tried all afternoon to get iAtkos installed, but no luck so far. Ive tried #####, ##### legacy and rboot le, no success. I can only manage to get to a white screen with a mouse cursor that does move via trackpad but thats it no menu..... the dvd seems to be doing something in the background can only imagine its the: CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page (0x...........): p=2271[opendirectoryd]clearing CS_VALID running in the background... My spec is. XPS L502x i5 2410m @2.3 processor, 4gb RAM (2gb removed for install), 15.4" HD screen, 750gb HD (80gb installed for this install), A05 Bios, Nvidia GeForce GT525M, Dell 1397 WLAN card (from my bust Dell 1545) Dont understand exactly what im doing wrong? I put SL back in just to get to disk utility in the install process and formatted it to MBR just in case that was a problem, but still no install screen. The HD is completely blank, just incase that makes any difference?
DoiX
How come some XPS L502x's can install iAtkos L1 or SL fine but others cant? Newer bios, newer revisions which can mean differences in who knows what part of the laptop... As for your specific problem, i believe transmac is simply corrupting the image when it burns it or maybe the image got corrupted while downloading it. All i can say is that this laptop model in it's current revision is perfect for os x and it will work.
burrows1980
@DoiX Cheers for the reply I will download again from a different source and Restore the image to USB or DVD in SL this time. OS MeerKat will be out before I get Lion working
