bezeek
This is a guide I wrote myself for the installation of 10.4.7 from JaS new DVD. It's overkill, and I'll be the first to admit it, for anyone who has done one of these installations before. So if you have any experience with installing OS X, you really aren't going to need this guide. Anyhow, the guide can be found here. You may have gathered from the end of url that this page is loaded dynamically, and yes, I do plan on keeping this guide updated for new releases. (I already did a fresh-install just to compile this one, and I plan on doing so many more times.) Also, pardon the ad at the top. It's for a business I work part time, as well as my mother, and she asked me to post the guide on her site with a plug for the business. Please do check it out though, the company offers a load of help and oppertunity. Please let me know of any corrections/additions that you would like to see in this guide. Enjoy. [Edit: Attached the guide since people seem to be having trouble with the link. Keep in mind that the external version will probobly be updated more regularly, so if you can, I would suggest using the link instead.] 10.4.7___1.1.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25775-new-jas-1047-dvd-full-installation-guide/ Share on other sites

erbic
Not broken for me. I'm not very experienced with the VMWare method of installing, but the guide seemed well-written. I just want to search
Hey guys, quick question. I had tried before to native install, I succeeded but had a plaethora of compatibility issues, does the VMware method take longer to install? It seems to be sitting at the grey apple much longer. Thanks in advance for putting up wtih my dumb newb questions. bezeek
Hmm. I don't know why people are having trouble with the link. I'll throw it up as an attachment also, although the external versioin is more likely to be updated more regularly. @Junio: Did FF really report the server as www.moreaboutmonkey.com? The domain is www.moreaboutmoney.com... And yes, it does really exist. Thanks for the props guys. I'll try to answer any questions to the best of my ability, although I'm no OS X genius. bigdbag
What does it mean in VMware when it gives you the option to use a physical disk? In the guide it says it will make OS X faster. I was wondering, does this mean this option in vmware allow you to dual boot from startup? Also, I have a question for bezeek, Jas, or anyone that knows about my issue. I have an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice cpu. On several installation guides at OSX86 wiki, I have seen notices that say, "Guide is only for intel (theoretically should work with AMD Venice)". I have tried such guides and every time, the result is that in Disk Utility, I see no hard drives listed, only the dvd-drive that I'm booting the installation from. Is there an AMD guide that someone can link me to? I have already successfully installed OS X through VMware's virtual hard drive feature, but native installs don't see any hard disks. Thank you. PolishOX
@bigdbag Use Parition Magic to create an UNFORMATTED and UNALLOCATED partition. This will then show up as a drive to which you can install OSX onto. Hope this helps.
