I've noticed a little bug with Chameleon Wizard -- It won't pick up my 2 GB USB Thumb Drive so I can select it as a destination for install. It sees all other volumes though.

It has to be formatted as HFS+.

 

It's not a bug, It works ok here, on my pendrives.

version 2.5.0 crashing here.

Selected the boot0 install option, it starts downloading then it crashes. When I restart the application, it displays the Chameleon revision installed as XYZ, and refuses to download new version complaining about internet connection issues.

why on earth would you install chameleon on each of your partitions? it's a bit foolish to blindly use a tool like this without understanding what it does or what the latest changes in chameleon are.

Really use that "Nighty builds" of that trunk ONLY if you also have access to the change log to see what may happen.

It is absolutely NOT RECOMMENDED to use any of that new builds if your well working chameleon can be used or you may have an workaround for that (DSDT other fixes).

Main usage of that new builds is to report back to the devs bugs and feature requests. Don't think newer builds are better in any way until an new final or at least RC is coming out.

Chameleon Wizard since 2.5 supports only buildbot. It doesn't use my dropbox anymore. If you want to install older revs, you have to install them from disk, not from server. It shows changelog of the selected build, so you can choose if you want to install it.

Edit: i`ve fixed no problems anymore i installed iatkos in another partition and just installing my old chameleon lion version and voila... works again in all of my partitions... thanks

Chameleon Wizard since 2.5 supports only buildbot. It doesn't use my dropbox anymore. If you want to install older revs, you have to install them from disk, not from server. It shows changelog of the selected build, so you can choose if you want to install it.

 

Just a note: you should be using the JSON api (http://builds.voodooprojects.org/json/help) to retrieve the latest builds + the uploaded file, and not scanning the builds/ folder. File names may (and will) change without notice, however you can find out what they are with the "dist" properly. You can also retrieve the latest commit message via it as well.

Hey meklort, good to see you around here and still active!

 

I used the latest version of Chameleon Wizard to install "boot" onto a third sATA drive that I connected, after being cloned from my working HDD (i.e. I wanted to swap drives). It crashed, for some reason; i.e. I selected to install boot0 (second option) with the latest build and the application crashed. The drop down list had the drive listed; dunno what happened. On the second attempt, after reboot, it seemed to work.

Kinda hard to explain, but I'll do my best

 

When there is no bootloader installed on the partition, app works properly.

It detects the latest Chameleon revision on the server but when I try to install it, it crashes right after download. Surprisingly, bootloader is actually installed even though the app crashed.

 

When I reopen the app to update the bootloader, it doesn't detect any revision on the server, and doesn't detect the chameleon version installed to partition (writes revision XYZ instead). If I click install anyway, I get:

 

Error:

Couldn't download file.

Check your internet connection, and try again later

 

I can get it work again by deleting the boot file from the target partition. That way app works again, downloads, installs, crashes and same cycle repeats itself :/

May I suggest that you make a Boot CD creator as well Thats probably asking for too much!!

I thought about it, I have even started doing it, but then I started to work on other projects and never finished that. I'm planning to make another Wizard...

I actually think the crash is related to the code which checks the revision of currently installed bootloader.

 

As for the Boot CD maker, looking forward to seeing the new wizard. And thanks in advance

Now uses JSON API.

i have another problem, in org.chameleon.Boot.plist, when i translate this :

 

"Slide left for Quiet Boot and Instant Menu flags"

 

my translate is larger than the window "Boot Flags", so on the final result, we can't see it good !

 

 

so if you can do a thing like add two icons ( ati, nvidia ), like this :

 

 

if not, i'll remove it !

Please wait with translations until I'll finish more important things, like bugs and crashes. Then I'll add all captions to localizable.strings, and no GUI modification will be needed.

 

I'm thinking about redesigning the org.chameleon.Boot edition tab.
