use boot cd

I dont quite understand . You gave me a link download HackBoot Lion and no instruction . Your whole first post was about USB method ? Did I get something wrong here ? Or you mean I should give up the USB method and try the CD method ? If so , what should I do with the HackBoot_Lion.iso ?

OK ... I got it . I downloaded the file and I found a mach_kernel file inside of it . I copied it to my usb root and I got the error :

" Still waiting for root device "

Any ideas ?

Any info on how to make a hack Lion Recovery Disk Assistant with the Apple releases Lion Recovery Disk Assistant?

BTW: This Lion Recovery Disk Assistant, is it a full install of LION, if so how can it hold on just 1GB?

Great guide which I followed, Everything goes well until all kexts are loaded from the Lion USB stick. After this is done the system restarts and I can't get the installation to really start.

If I run regular boot from the latest chimera bootloader I can see the apple logo a fraction of a second before the system restarts.

My spec:

GA EP35-DS3 with Intel E5200

4 gb ram

ATi HD 5450 1gb

Two SATA hard drives:

2 TB WD with 10.6.8 (almost clean install, no DSDT patch) works like a charm and another partion which I intend to intsall Lion on.

1 TB SEagate with a numer of Ubuntu version on it.

I have tried removing all my USB stuff but still the system restarts. I took away my PCI cards (Sound and Wifi) but no change. I only had the 2 TB hard drive connected but still no change.

I have also tried a number of boot flags but nothing have worked so far (can't really remember all flags).

Finally I have tried other installations such as Xmove and Kakewalk but I got the same behaviour.

Please somebody help me!!!

Thx, Thx, Thanks!! MaLd0n!

As an (relative) Apple noob, I've got my GA-Z68X/GT460 system running smooth by following your guide. Finding all proper procedures was the hardest part.

- manually installation steps for Chameleon (link) when installer hangs on 'registering packages'.

- for .kext changes, I figured out it's best to use a kext installer. :D

(while preparing USB flash drive, I've used CHOWN and CHMOD commands)

- 'select destination disk' doesn't appear on Chameleon installer, or it does appear but all (except currently running OS) target disk's contain exclamation marks. This was easily solved by running the Chameleon installer from my intenal (Leopard) HDD drive (MBP) instead of external (USB) (SnowL) HDD drive.

- installation drive (USB) say's: 'Problem reading disc, please clean'. Reinstalled BaseSystem.dmg and made sure none file ownership/permissions changed.

Hope this will help others.

Hi there, I'm stuck with a black screen during the loading of the installer, right after the "Starting Darwin x86" line.

No matter what I change, it always hangs there. Here's the full post about this issue: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=265071

I hope you can help me troubleshot it. Thanks!

I have exactly the same error with you.

But i have an apple boot screen with no spinning wheel

Any ideas with the solution

MaLd0n we need some help :(

i also tried those flags

npci=0x2000

and

PCIRootUID=1

but none of them works.

Thanks for the procedure. I have a p35-ds3l. After the system is installed, I found I have no sound, no network, and sleep doesn't work. Any suggestion?

Thanks

Try copy working kexts from your SL system to your new lion system. IT might work.

Answering myself as I made some progress! :-)

I fixed a few things using ##### 3.8.0:

Installed IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector in /Extra/Extensions

Installed VoodooPS2Controller.kext in /System/Library/Extensions. It works but now I have to boot in 32-bit mode (added arch=i386 in my apple.com.Boot.plist). Hopefully I'll be able to get rid of that one when I'll have bought an Apple keyboard.

Tricky part.

As I generated a DSDT.aml file with DSDT Auto-Patcher, and as the patch description says it comes from MaLd0n and it fixes HDEF/ALC889A (among other things), I first tried with ALC8xxHDA only from #####, described as "MacMan's Unified Audio Injector for Realteak (...) ALC889a high-definition audio codecs."

Upon myFix 1.3 and reboot, nothing gained, still no sound.

So, although the description of this package said "If you are not using a modified DSDT", which I do, "you must also use a HDAEnabler for your specific codec", I chose "ALC885/889a" under the "Non-DSDT HDAEnabler" section, ran myFix and rebooted. Still nothing.

So I manually deleted both files installed (/Extra/Extensions/ALC8xx.kext and /System/Library/Extensions/HDA(...)Enabler.kext) and installed VoodooHDA 0.2.72 under the Universal section, still from #####. Ran myFix and rebooted.

Now I have sound but it's creepy, I have pops, the sound's dirty when it's loud.

So what should I do?

And there's still that question about NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, is it really needed with my CPU (Intel Pentium E2160)? How to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance! ;-)

Any advice MaLd0n? :-)

I know somebody asked this earlier, but nobody answered.

On a fresh install, everything works except booting from HDD, even with Chameleon installed to the HDD, it will only successfully boot using the USB Chameleon. This is fixed by running the /extra/ for specific CPU. However, as soon as the /extra/ folder is installed, the keyboard and mouse no longer work. How can we get around this??
