Followed the guide but I fail when trying to boot the USB Lion Installer...

I get the boot menu fine, I choose the Base System USB Partition. It looks like it's going well in verbose mode but the last few messages I see before it freezes are:

Previous Shutdown Cause: 3
No interval found for . Using 80000000
nstat_lookup_entry failed: 2
nstat_lookup_entry failed: 2
ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::startForReal - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out
Transcript Offline - Buffer Pool Allocate [181000] failed
DSMOS has arrived

After this point computer freezes. My hardware is:

ASUS K53E Laptop:

Sandy Bridge i5 2410M

6GB Ram (4GB + 2GB)

Intel 3000 Graphics

I'm using the GM disc image and have followed the above instructions exactly. Any ideas?

Thanks

see here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=261698

i used to have that issue, and/or the swirly ball one

then i did that and it worked, the only difference really i think was chameleon

Hi, I just tried following those instructions. First I tried just installing that version of chameleon, but same problem. Then I followed the rest of the instructions and copied the files. The only file that wasn't there was the .file one. I tried again and still exactly the same problem.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

thats really weird i didnt see anything rea;;y different about what i did, i didnt change any bios settings or anything.

mald0n,

the dp4 GM installer fro the kexts you have, does that install a kernel too? i saw the kernel when i unpk'd it to see whats inside. i also noticed that the kernel from your pkg was also off by about 100byte from the lion kernel of the installer. i manually copied this over to my usb as i didnt know if your installer did, could this be why i fixed the swirly ball thing?

just installed it with maldon´s usb stick method from insanelymac

have an core i5 2500k on an asrock z68 pro3 with 8GB and an pny 460 gtx

after install i started safari, to my surprise the first time startup animation seemed quite fluid

so i downloaded cinebench and …

36.05FPS

just wanted to let all 460GTX owners know

added GraphicsEnabler and GraphicsMode to boot.plist

PS

had to copy the mach kernel manually because it was missing

biggrin.gif Thanks a lot!

All ok with your method in P5KSE, C2DE6850Conroe, 4Mb RAM DDR2800, ATI Radeon HD 4890.

Sleep/Wake. Reboot. QE/CI. Dual monitor. Audio in/out. Ethernet. Wifi Ralink. Bluetooth. CMOS reset solved. Temperature between 30-40 Cº and SpeedStep ok

Only one problem. Disk Utility in Lion report an error in the EFI partition. In Snow Leopard Disk Utility don't check EFI partition, no error. Don't repair with disk utility, erase EFI partition.

Any idea?

i tried this guide last night, and maybe i'm an idiot, but i think something is missing. it wasn't working for me.

i can follow everything leading up to this point just fine. restoring the image to a usb key, etc, and everything after this point, ie, installing the boot loader and installing the other thing.

but this?????

After the restoration, open the restored partition, navigate to System/Installation, delete the Packages link and create a folder with the same name, Packages.

Open Terminal and run the command:
CODE
open /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/Packages

Copy the files to the Packages folder created previously.

what files am i supposed to copy to the packages folder!?!?

make sure you still have the InstallESD.dmg file mounted....as long as its mounted you can run that code and it will popup a window with all the packages.

OH

so a Packages link is created on the usb key? i have to remove it and create a folder

so the DMG that i have mounted, also the one i restored to the usb key, i take the files from the packages folder on it, and copy them to the packages folder on the usb key?

i think i get it now

After a few hours looking for I finally got to the install screen. butmy mouse and my keyboard (both usb) doesn't work. is a kext in extra folder missing? My motherboard is a GA-P55-US3L.

Thanks

Hi Smo.Dan.

Check my Sig. I've the same MoBo. It is necessary (@insanelymac), and helpful, if you make your signature with your PC specs, HW components, and all that is connected, which you use in your Rig.

Do that ;) , and reply here. I'll see where your problem lies. Don't forget to mention what steps you did to make the USB install drive. And, what Lion source are you using. (DMG or zipped .APP file)...

PS: Folks -> MaLd0n, & tseug... Finally, got a perfectly working Lion 10.7 install...

MaLd0n for pre-install everything. Cheerios Mate! :)

tseug for the post-install script. Especially the automation. Cool. But, Need to fix the GA-P55-US3L DSDT.dsl compile error. I dunno why this error:

DSDT Auto Patcher has a bug when running for my MoBo -> GA-P55-US3L. Throws up an error of line 234 & 240.

[Line 234 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.PX40.AG3E)]
[Line 240 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.PX40.AG3E)]

I fixed all the KEXT & DSDT (especially) chinks. I fixed that app, ran it in Lion, and Voila! Blam! Everything's working!

Currently, replying to the post from Safari 5.1 (7534.48.3) [full screen mode rocks!] in Lion!

Hi MaLd0n,

After 10.6.8 successfully update where only audio needed to be patched, I’ve decided to give

the Lion GM a try.

I followed your guide using external USB hard disk instead of USB drive I’ve done a fresh install on one new 180GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD connected over USB Sharkoon docking station. Everything went fine until I installed Extra Lion Package, but I didn’t install Chameleon because I have it already on my first boot Snow Leopard HD and it’s the one from your Post.

First problem occurred after installing “Extra Lion” Package and rebooting in installer USB:

“Mach_kernel cannot be found”

So I´ve booted in Snow Leopard and copied Mach_kernel and Extra directory into the root of

installer USB. That solved the first problem, but the second one was the one you mentioned:

• If you have problems in installation with the message "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer", replace the file "OSInstall" in the folder System/Installation/Packages by this...

OSInstall.zip ( 654.04K ) …”

After replacing OSInstall Package everything went well and fast. After 15min I booted in the Lion but without graphics acceleration and low res. Following last steps, installed Extra directory with appropriate Kext’s using iMac 11.1 identifier and created new DSDT for my System. After second boot Lion came up after 20 spinning circles in Full Res. & Graphics acceleration! Everything was installed except of Audio. Little bit patching and audio was solved, too. On the end I´ve installed the Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx Driver and USB 3.0 Lacie kext (Patched by Modbin!) and I can confirm that works perfect with my USB 3.0 Sharkoon docking station!

Last step was to build my Lion SSD in and connect over SATA controller. After that my Lion booted in 9 spinning circles 100% completed! App store works, internet over Airport very fast! I must say that I am booting in 64Bit mode as default and after first tests everything working stable and fast. OpenGL and Geekbanch 64Bit are a little bit higher as of Snow Leopard. I will post the Test results soon….

Just one more question:

you have the same motherboard as mine: GB P55A UD3, but I presume Rev.2 with Audio ALC892?

Because mine is Rev.1 ALC888 and that made me a little bit headache...

Thanks MaLd0n for all your hard work!

:thumbsup_anim:

How can i install Java Runtime Environement on Lion? This step doesn't work for me!

Thanks!

just start DSDT Auto-Patcher < --- this app depends on JaVa and the System will ask you to Download JaVa to Run this app.

Hey Freaky Chokra

Your DSDT is not original

PX40 = LPCB

send me your DSDT

Hey MaLd0n. Greetings. I can't disagree with the Jedi Master. ;)

But, I did boot without any DSDT file, 1st on the USB drive during installation, 2nd after account creation etc. etc. too! But, this genuinely is a bug, as I know about this DSDT Auto Patcher app. :)

I was told to use it during 10.6.3 setup too. Same error. Then, I had to use tonymacx86 repo DSDT file. Custom edit it to make things working to Vanilla. Very truthfully. :police:

Anywho, I'm attaching the said 'bad' DSDT in here, and the one I fixed too. :P

The lines with PX40 were removed in the tonymacx86 version of my MoBo DSDT. But, LPCB functions were added and fixed by I think Macman. So, the problem was then solved for Snow Leopard.

The fix wasn't a cakewalk. For Lion, I had to manually delete (fix) these 'PX40' lines, and replace the generated dsdt.dsl with my edited dsdt.dsl inside the Contents folder of DSDT AutoPatcher.app. That made it patch the DSL, and compile without any errors! :gun:

But this is the funniest and weirdest of all Apps. ;):P

[Line 191 type Error message Object does not exist (OSTP)]
[Line 196 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.PX40.AG3E)]
[Line 197 type Error message Object does not exist (SLPE)]
[Line 202 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.PX40.AG3E)]
[Line 204 type Error message syntax error, unexpected PARSEOP_ELSE ]
[Line 206 type Error message Object does not exist (\_SB.PCI0.PX40.AG3E)]
[Line 216 type Error message syntax error, unexpected PARSEOP_METHOD, expecting $end ]

These are the errors, I get when I have booted using a DSDT in the /Extra folder. Right now, I don't wanna jinx my install and therefore, I have not booted without a DSDT. Hope you understand. :tomato:

send_me_FreakyChokra.zip

So, the attached DSDT.dsl file throws 6 errors instead of only PX40.AG3E error, usually @ line numbers 234 & 240. This compile error pops up only under the method:

Method (_PTS, 1, NotSerialized)

DSDT not original

If you are using the Mac OS version of DSDT Auto-Patcher, do NOT use a DSDT replacement in Chameleon when you run the app, or it will be used as base for patching instead of the original one from BIOS. If you have a dsdt.aml in / or /Extra (or a specified file for DSDT key in com.apple.Boot.plist), remove it and reboot before running the Auto-Patcher.

IF YOU WANT TO USE THE AUTO-PATCHER

NEED THE ORIGINAL DSDT

Do not use DSDT from other computer, in many cases even if the mobo and BIOS version are the same, the amount of memory, number of used memory slots, etc. can cause problems.

Extract from Windows and Apply again

Hi MaLd0n,

Please could you patch my DSDT for my Asus K53E Sandy Bridge i5-2410M Laptop?

I have extracted the DSDT on Windows 7 x64 using Everest Ultimate. The zipped output is attached.

I get the same problem as previous poster gets, DSMOS has arrived, when trying to load Lion installer. When I run 10.6.8 the screen becomes corrupted on boot.

Thanks
