I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P mobo and I have the same problem others are describing regarding the USB stick not letting the computer past POST, only when the USB stick is inserted. I isolated the problem and it is generated only when installing the Chameleon-2.0-RC5-r1083.pkg, before that the computer starts with no problem (with the USB stick present, even after installing the Extra Folder .pkg). Any suggestions?

Thanks !

Sorry my other specs are:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard

Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz

ATi Radeon HD 4850 512MB

4GB DDR2 800MHz

Running Snow Leopard with no issues.

When it comes to 1TB hdd you have to install Chameleon on EFI partition. That is the only way I got Chameleon to work. So all your problems can be solved by using a boot disk to boot into your os x, then use attached Chameleon to install to EFI.. Once this is installed you can use a script to mount your efi and update it as you please..

Hola! Thank u so much for d quick reply, mald0n.

I have used that very svn chameleon 1083 version .pkg to install on lion partition.

Next, I even extracted d files Boot0, boot1h, boot, and fdisk440 from the pkg.

After that I ran d manual commands in terminal from Snow leopard 10.6.8 to install chameleon 1083 into lion partition. But that fails. Same error.

Next I tried d make partition active using fdisk in terminal with f 1 write y quit procedure too.

Same errors.

Lastly, my hd is WD 1TB. Totally empty, unused. I used disk utility in SLeo to partition dis drive into 150 GB for Lion n rest for data. I used GUID PT.

The errors are as follows:

Boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: test
Boot0: GPT
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: test
boot0: error

Latest try shot I did was, I used the USB Pen drive with Lion installation to boot the pc, n selected Lion HDD partition.

Voila! It booted perfectly. Everything went smoothly.

I think I have QE/CI. Dashboard has smoother ripples than in SL 10.6.8.

Even Realtek 8111D is detected n shows connected. But I couldnt access Internet at all from it.

I tried various tricks. But LAN card can be pinged. But the adsl modem doesn't return ping reply.

As ur package had LNX2Mac kexts, they r loaded in kextstat output.

Yet cannot browse internet.

I'll save that for later.

I request u to help me fix bootloader problem. Rest I can wait to get fixed.

Respect n regards,

Freaky Chokra :)

This is probably for anyone experiencing freezing problems during installation... Need some tips and possibly kext files to test out.. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 (Laptop) and I see a few other folks with Dell machines are experiencing Freezing during the install. I see a few recommendations for replacing 3 kext from previous SL but for me it does not work. I get some kind of USBtype error and it does not continue past that.. Any advise or kexts would be helpful so I can continue testing and possibly boot a working test machine

Hello everybody,

just a word to say thank you all, especially MaLd0n for your tutorial !

I made today the install of Lion (DP4) from my 2years old Leopard (10.5.8), and all works perfectly (on a P5Q3), and thanks to the migration assistant, I recovered all my settings/files/(compatible)applications like 1 hour before.

Thank you !

Hi,

I'm on GA-P35-DS4, Q6600@3.2, 8G RAM, GS8400, 1xDVD-RW, 1x Bluray RO, BIOS F14

I was able to install GM via tseung method (but with chameleon r1096 + NullCPUPowerManagement).

System boots OK without dsdt.aml (no QE/CI,snd,sleep obviously)

I auto-generate dsdt.aml with latest dsdt-auto-patcher.

Unfortunately with auto-generated dsdt.aml I'm getting KP (early stage, no references to any kext).

Strange as this mobo is well supported....

I'm attaching auto-generated dsdt.aml - maybe somebody has clue what is wrong here ?

Thx in advance !

Spot on for the GM. Thank you Maldon. :D

One thing though, as was pointed out here, it seems sometimes USB Hubs can cause the 'PCI Configuration Begin' hang. Unplugging everything except the USB Installer Drive solves this problem (along with NPCI=0x2000 for me).
