`Hello All,

I have just tried this method, but without success. (tried twice)

I have the p8p67 pro, radeon 5770, 4gb ram and i5 2500k

I have booted with Andy's CD, installed SL from usb drive (10.6.3), rebooted with andy's CD, finished installation option, rebooted with andy's cd., and installed the combo update.

After the combo update, when I to reboot using Andy's CD I get stuck on the white screen with the apple.

Can someone pleeeease help me?

Should I change something in the bios, or in the installatin process?

Thanks a lot!!!!!!

I have a similar board (P8P67M PRO) and while it's not exactly the same... I don't have orange drive icons when I disable HOT PLUG for the drives. Can someone here confirm this?

Also. People here might be interested in my DSDT thread here. This lightweight DSDT should also work for your boards.

The device-id of my SATA device is 0x80861c02 but Apple uses 0x80861c03 (in the new BMP8 series) so you may want to inject this, but you still need the new System Profiler files to fix this: "Unknown AHCI Standard Controller".

^Andy^, thanx for your great work. Time to upgrade my hardware.

And post somebody, please, does this method work for P8P67 Deluxe/WS mobos?

I could get a "desktop" but that was about it. I installed w/##### legacy+BridgeHelper 2.0 and everything working now.

Only change in BIOS I made was too XMP. Hyperthreading, speedstep and turbo all left enabled. Also did not have to edit boot or simbios plists. Here's the quick steps.

boot w/##### legacy

changed disc w/retail 10.6 and install

reboot w/##### legacy and install 10.6.7, run ##### w/o ##### and tick sandy bridge bootloader and macbookpro8,1 as well as audio for 889, usb3, both network kexts, 64-bit apple boot screen and finally system utilities.

I did not select anything for video (XFX Radeon HD 5770)

Install BridgeHelper

Reboot into a shiny new vanilla 10.6.7 with full acceleration and speed!

Trust me Andy, you are well appreciated and everyone here will likely spread word about your contributions and stick up for the work you have done.

Regarding my earlier post, I meant to ask you if any 2GB card would work (not necessarily the Sapphire). Have you (or anyone) tried any 5870 based card with 2GB of vram? I'm wondering if the kexts support the higher vram or I should stick to finding a radeon 5870 based card with only 1GB.

Sapphire 5870 2GB E6 works fine here. QE/CI as well.

Andy, thanks for the very helpful post.

Can you point me to a list of the components you used in your build?

Thanks, Lars

Do you mean the hardware components?

If so they are (or were) as follows..

Asus P8P67Pro motherboard, Intel Core i5-2500K cpu, G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz ram, 2 x AMD HD 6870 gpu's (one a sapphire and the other an OEM unbranded card but both flashed to use the XFX overclocked bios), 3 x Samsung F1 1TB hard disks, 2 x LG DVD rewriters.

I have since swapped out the 6870's to spare pc and and installed a 6970 which so far is NOT working in snow leopard.

shep - you can get the same audio kexts from ##### (see post #19 on this very thread) so you could have saved a bit of time. Good to know that my boot cd was at least useful to get snow leopard installed on your system though. BTW Bridgehelper just installs the new kernel which is already included in my package but as you don't have the pro board and didn't need to run the full package you wouldn't have had it automatically installed.

Hi all,

I have installed everything succesfully but one issue remains. Maybe someone can help me here.

I have made the installation with 1x 4gb RAM 1600 Corsait Vengence, and added a another 4gb (same specs) after installation but my install still shows only 4gb.

On top of that, my info shows 800Mhz instead of 1600.

Did anyone have the same issue?

Please help me!!

thanks!!!

Andy,

Your guide is very concise and easy to follow, and therefore, I am looking to use your guide for my next hackintosh buid. I have few questions:

1) Does HD 6870 work 100% with your method? I read from tonymacx86.com that mbp 10.6.6 AMD-ATI card update for 68XX cards cause some issues.

2) I noticed that people report either audio not working or click sound before any sound plays with your method. Has those issues been resolved?

3) Does the install package include DSDT? If so, does the DSDT.aml compatible with B3 revision? Does it include speedstep patch?

Thanks!

I have seen people mentioning this "bridgepatcher" thing a couple of times, but I have no idea what this is. Didn't install a bridgepatcher so I am getting curious. What is this?

"BridgeHelper"

That's TonyMac's "vanilla" 10.7.3 sandy bridge kernel installer from the macbook pro update.

if you have the update from apple you can just open it in pacifist and manually extract the kernel yourself.

This is his way of releasing it as a separate installer.

Hi,

I've had (semi) successful installs using both andy's boot cd or ##### legacy and 10.6.7 combo update, using 2x 1tb hard drives in raid with my P8P67-M. The only thing working is video ( 5770), no sound or ethernet after using #####. Also i cannot get the system to boot from the HDD and have to use either ##### Legacy or AndyBoot cd to boot into osx everytime.

I've tried andy's install package which disables my video, as well as various different combinations of kexts from #####.

I've also tried the bridgehelper, and ATI package with no luck.

Audio is detected and makes a horrible crackle if i install the latest voodooHDA

Also my ram is shown as DDR2 800 mhz when it should be DDR3 1600 mhz.

I'm at my wits end about what to try next, if anyone has any suggestions i'd be very grateful, I'm not getting very far with this!

Thanks for all the help so far from everyone contributing to this thread.

Disables it? So it was working before but when you install the new ATI kexts it stops working? If that is the case your device ID must be missing from the new kexts (which is odd as others with 5770's have reported it as working).

Don't use VoodooHDA it's pretty {censored} unless you have pretty old hardware - Install the specific kexts for your audio chipset instead.

Also my ram is shown as DDR2 800 mhz when it should be DDR3 1600 mhz.

That's purely cosmetic - ignore it.

Hello,

how do I find this IORegistryexplorer? (I'm a compete noob :S)

I'd be glqd to help. However, I just did a test, by pressing sleep in the apple menu and I couldn't make it wake up.

Actually I though that sleep was working because I can leave my system without touching it for quite a long time (like 1 hour or 2) and after that I by moving the mouse it did just wake up after a few moments. Maybe, it's not sleep.

I'm really sorry, I'm really a noob!!

BTW, (you're gona laught at me), my 8gb is working. I had only 4gb before because it was incorrectly placed on the motherboard!!!! LOL

I noticed when I saw my BIOS showing only 4gb!!!

Well, I'm goign to work on my sound now. Try to get that working with ##### as advised by Andy!!!

Hi Andy,

I just wanted to say, i'm about to buy a Sabertooth P67 i7 upgrade and i've got this page bookmarked. Thanks so much for this repository of information, I know that for every one person who says thanks to you for this, there are at least 20 others who are grateful (but can't be bothered to set up an account and say it). It's great that here and there on the internet you can find people like you who are both experts in what they do and also give their time to help others (it must be so tedious). I only hope I can follow your instructions and meet success.

My current hackintosh was installed using the old Psystar method after I hit too many walls trying to install it - it was a pretty slick job. I'm hoping it's easier to install nowdays.

Thanks again for your time.

Dan. (wish me luck)

Sorry i'm a bit of a noob to all this Hackintosh stuff but have been doing a bunch of research as well as being in the process of acquiring all the parts for my own build.

In your post you state that you were using 2 HD 6870s. Was this in Crossfire? I was reading that osx didn't support it, if it does in fact support it i will definitely want to get another 5770 to add to the build.

Also, is there anything in your build and install that doesn't work? Such as sleep, USB 3.0, eSATA or the 6.0 Gb/s SATA III ports?

My build is going to consist of:

MB - ASUS P8P67 PRO Rev. 3

CPU- i7 2600k

GPU - Sapphire Vapor X HD 5770

RAM - PNY Optima 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333

HDD - Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

PSU - Corsair Enthusiast 650TX

Optical Drive - ASUS DVD Burner

CPU Cooler - Corsair H70

Case - CM Storm Scout

Overall cost for all parts, taking discounts and rebates into effect: $625.81

Thanks for the great guide and help!

Thanks for the help Andy, i really appreciate it.

Use ##### and install the AnVal Chameleon RC5 Sandybridge bootloader, You will also need FakSMC and NullCPUPowerManagement kexts.

Unfortunately i have to say that it didn't work for me. I did a fresh install with your boot cd and installed the kexts and bootloader you suggested from ##### along with the 10.6.7 combo. It still would not boot without a cd and then just hangs on the apple logo.

Following that i tried again with ##### legacy and ##### and managed to get working video and ethernet OOB but still will not boot without a cd and there is no sound.

I should mention that both turbo and speedstep are disabled in the BIOS.

Don't use VoodooHDA it's pretty {censored} unless you have pretty old hardware - Install the specific kexts for your audio chipset instead.

My board has a ACL887 for sound, which is recognised after installing the relevant kext but does not actually work or show up in system prefs > sound without the voodooHDA which makes it distort and crackle! Also if i install with ##### legacy i get a constant wash of loud noise until i install #####.

Yes, the video is disabled if i use your package provided on the cd.

I know i can get this working as there are reports of others getting it! I would like to know if anyone else specifically has an ASUS P8P67-M with working sound and network.

UPDATE: i also tried without RAID with the same results

Also, is there anything in your build and install that doesn't work? Such as sleep, USB 3.0, eSATA or the 6.0 Gb/s SATA III ports?

My (limited) sucess so far has been with the 6gb sata ports which are listed as intel ports on my P8P67-M.

I had this problem for a long time with Voodoo until I found a post on here that had the solution. Open "Audio Midi Setup" (you'll find it in Applications under Utilities), pick your output and make sure your "Format" is at 44100 khz and it's set to 2-Ch 16 bit. Stopped the crackling for me.

Edit: Also funnily enough, I'm stuck using Voodoo because I have the ALC887 for audio also that doesn't work with the correct drivers.

Did you also install the new kernel or were you still using the 10.6.6 non sandy bridge version?
