i know it had been asked a few times but would it be technically possible to port this envy driver to maya44 ?

i mean by using the windows drivers of that to get the important port and other settings/information.

or using the powerpc driver of maya44 for getting the parameters out.

OK.. Heres my issue i have installed iATKOS 5i. works perfectly with my on board ac97 audio. panning works perfectly. later installed envy24 for delta 1010lt sound is perfect but the L & R pan is not. when panned L snd can still be heard in R speaker a little.... when panned R everything is low but still heard in both speakers....huh? whats up with that?

 

Oh yeah.. You are doing a very good job on the 0sx86 scene.

I can't for the life of me get OS X to recognize my card. I have an Audiophile 2496 and I am on a retail version of Leopard (still OSX86 of course). Current version of OS X is 10.5.8. I used to have iDeneb installed at version 10.5.6 and the card was recognized and worked perfectly. Not so much luck after installing the retail version of Leopard.

 

I first tried the HT version, but then realized that it wasn't supported so I deleted the .kext and extensions.mkext and rebooted. It wasn't until after this that I saw the uninstall instructions on the driver website, but nonetheless I followed those steps afterwards and it said there was no file so I assumed it was gone. Not sure if this has causes my future attempts to not work at all or not.

 

I then tried Envy24 versions 20, 19, 17, and 16 and still couldn't get the OS to recognize my card. I checked the Audio MIDI Setup utility as well as the Sound in System Preferences and it was nowhere to be found. My onboard audio shows up no problem (ALC888), but no Audiophile 2496.

 

Please help!

Please have a look at the log (all messages or system.log or whatever it's called) in Console and enter the search string 'Envy' at the top right corner. See what comes up.

 

Will this work for the audigy es I'm struggling to get it working and have tried changing vendor Ids voodoohda apple hda I've tried it all running Iatkosv7 10.5.7

 

No, this is for more serious cards.

Technically, yes. Not by the means you describe though.

But it's hard to support a card that I don't have and there exist 3 different versions of the Maya44, which I have no desire to deal with.

Something went wrong when installing and uninstalling. I don't see a log entry of a system boot either, so it is never loaded. Since I don't know much about OSX, I'm afraid I can't help you. Well, re-installing your system will probably help, but that's probably not an option.

Re-installing OS X is not out of the question, but I would like to use that as a last resort. I ran View PCI Device/Vendor ID in OSX86 Tools and the card shows up in there. It says:

 

Multimedia Audio Controller [401]: VIA Technologies Inc. ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller [1412:1712] (rev. 02)

 

So this tells me that at the very least the system can see the card. When you say you don't see a log entry of a system boot, does this mean there is nothing in the log that shows the driver being loaded when OS X starts?

 

Also, I was wondering if there might be conflict with my on-board audio (ALC888) or perhaps some problem with the IOPCIFamily.kext? Have you experienced any problems related to either of these in the past?

 

Lastly, after booting into OS X, I tried to manually load the kext using the kextload command in the terminal and it told me the kext was already loaded, but it still does not show up anywhere in System Preferences or Audio MIDI Setup.

There can not be any clash between onboard audio and Envy24.

There HAS to be some entry of Envy24 in the boot/system.log, I can't imagine otherwise. Really, I have little knowledge about OSX, I know just enough to write a driver and make an installer, that's about it!

Unfortunately I don't know OSX that well either. I'll play around with it a little more to see if I can figure something out. If I do I'll report back with my findings for future reference. If not then I'll just reinstall OSX. I did mention before that I've installed the retail version of OS X, that wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

Alright. I just didn't know if anyone had reported problems to you in the past about any issues with the retail version. You say on the audio-evolution web site that any questions or bug reports should be emailed to you so I thought someone might have had a similar problem before.

OK, so I couldn't figure out what went wrong so I decided to reinstall the entire OS. Once the OS was installed, I did all the software updates (to 10.5.8) and that is all I did before attempting to install the Envy24 driver. I used the latest version (0.20.0). Once the install was finished, the system rebooted. When I got back to the desktop, I went to Audio MIDI Setup but there were no devices. I then went to sound and there was no M-Audio card there.

 

I've attached the log file that contains everything that the system did between when I started the install to after the machine finished rebooting. The only thing that stood out to me were two instances (one right before the restart and one after the restart) that said:

 

kernel M-Audio Audiophile 2496 detected!

kernel Memory allocated OK!

kernel phys = 1c01000, virt = 67939000

kernel Memory allocated OK!

kernel phys = 1c41000, virt = 67961000

kernel Error: no interrupt event source!

kernel Something failed in the engine!

 

So it looks to me that the card was detected but then something failed. I know you don't know a lot about OS X, but maybe the above information or anything else in the log file might give you some ideas on what is happening.

EDIT: Well it seems the problem has been solved. What I did was install IOPCIFamily.kext version 2.5 to replace the 2.6 version that is installed when OS X updates to 10.5.8. Rebooted, checked the log file and the no interrupt event source and something failed in the engine messages were gone. I then checked the Audio MIDI Setup and sure enough my Envy24 card shows up and works!

 

What is weird is that I tried to downgrade to IOPCIFamily.kext 2.5 before I reinstalled my OS and it didnt work, but I'm thinking something must have got messed up before hand.

 

Anyways, thought I'd post this for future reference for those that have any similar problems down the road.

 

EDIT #2: Well it was good while it lasted. After a reboot, the card no longer works and I get the no interrupt event source and something failed in the engine messages again. I didn't do anything to the system that would have caused this either. All I was doing was playing some music in my iTunes and then decided I would reboot just to make sure the card still worked the next time I booted the system, but sure enough it didn't. This is really driving me up the wall especially since it was just working perfectly. Hopefully audiodrivewriter or someone else might know exactly what the error messages mean and why they would re-appear out of nowhere again. :rolleyes:

Interesting. Can you try putting the card in a different PCI slot please?

 

I put the card in the 2nd PCI slot (there are only 2 on the board) and I receive the same error messages:

 

kernel Error: no interrupt event source!

kernel Something failed in the engine!

 

Edit: Chances are me writing this is going to jinx myself and the card will stop working again, but I think it's been solved. After some searching around it appears that some boards have problems with their PCI slots when the AppleHPET.kext is installed. So I removed this kext and cleared my cache and then rebooted. After the reboot, the error messages were gone and the card was working again. I have since rebooted 3 times in a row and the card remains working after all of these reboots. Not sure if this kext only installs on the retail version or not because like I said before I used to have iDeneb running with no problems whatsoever.

 

I still can't figure out why the card worked that one time when I tried it yesterday. I'm thinking maybe for whatever reason the AppleHPET.kext didn't load on that particular reboot, thus making the card work properly. Nonetheless, I'm keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that it remains working and I will report back if I experience any further problems.

Last driver 0.21 works well for M audio 2494 on Snow Leopard 10.6.0 in analog out but there is not sound at all in digital out.

 

Do you have any ideas why or how can it be fixed ?

Anyway, I've uploaded a new Envy24HT version which adds volume control for the Audiophile 192.

 

Can confirm, it works perfectly here(Audiophile 192), also, no kernel panic after sleep anymore.

i tried it for my maya1010 the driver shows in the pref sound ut no inputs or outputs..

i tried modyfying info.plist with 0x17121412 but no succces..please help..

just like to tell that i often also get the message "Error: no interrupt event source" , and than no envy driver appears within audio-midi-panel.

but sometimes it goes well, no failure-message + envy in panel with sound

I myself changed nothing, seems to be incidental.
