audiodriverwriter
The Printer driver is from the Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 9E25 Retail Disc. So, is it PPC or Intel? Strange as it may seem since I have written a driver and an application for OSX, I have little experience with Macs, so I wouldn't know if both executables were on there or if they are universal. semi_octave
Working perfectly with 1010LT and iDeneb 10.5.5, even at 96k. Amazing stuff, keep it up!!
carstino
@audiowrite Thanks a million for your hard work! Unfortunately my Delta 2496 is not working. It is recognized during the boot process but for some unknown reason it could not be connected to the system (see bootlog). So there is nothing in the Audio-Midi-Setup The card is working properly under windows. Is it possible to create an efi string for the audio card? Cheers! OSX just didn't find memory in the first 256MB of address space and there it simply ends. You can only solve this if you find a way to put the loading of the driver first before other drivers like gfx drivers. I haven't a way to solve this, neither do I think that I can. I got the same memory allocation error since the beginning. Audiodriverwriter said he can't fix it. I have waited since, but now I just deleted the mac os partition. I just have no use of a system without sound support.
mikeveli20
Do these drivers not work on 10.5.6? I just updated from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 and now my sound doesn't work. Tried reinstalling the driver and still nothing. In Sound under System Preferences there is no output or input devices found except for the onboard audio. Jeroen de Wit
Hi Audiodriverwriter! FYI I have a M-Audio Audiophile 192, but the Envy24HT driver is not working for me. The strangest thing is that the Envy24 does work great. I use iDeneb (10.5.5) on an Intel PC (E8200).

audiodriverwriter
No, it says Envy24 (see att.) And I assume that the combo-boxes only contain Envy24? If so, you need to check the system log to see if there's anything Envy24HT related.

Which log are you referring to? And what exactly am I looking for? Excuse my ignorance as I'm still relatively new at all this stuff. According to the wiki found here, it should be working in 10.5.6. Is there something I'm missing? Do I need any other new kexts to make it work? Thanks.

Please run the Console application/utility and look in system.log or something like 'all messages' and search for 'found', 'Envy24HT' or '192'. tackle
I got my Delta 1010LT working, even in Logic Studio as well. However, it disappeared now (!) from my system settings. Tried reinstalling, no luck. No idea what to do, or what caused it. I DID install Logitech Control Center to try and get some control over my mouse (futile attempt). Wonder if that did it.. will uninstall that. Edit: Nope, uninstalling the logitech stuff did not help Do you know if there's any way to reinstall the audio drivers without reinstalling the whole OS? I've tried just installing the drivers again of course, but there's no difference. Happy for any help

Happy for any help What you are probably experiencing, is that the driver cannot allocate memory for its buffers at start-up. Please check your system log (see Console) if this is the case. I'm afraid I can't solve that if that happens. Re-installing the drivers is just re-running the installation of the driver, but that won't help I think. I had it working a few reboots. Audio in every app, everything fine. I will try to see if I can find that console thing. I remember one reboot before it stopped working, the system said something about updating cache or something (?). I hit restart, and this dialog box comes up saying this. Have no idea what it meant. Could that have something to do with it?

I remember I did one more thing before it stopped working, and that is that I removed a DVD writer from my computer, could that be the cause? Anyways, since this setup is worthless for me without the sound card (I'll have to use windoze instead) I wonder if it's possible to do anything at all. I do know you said you can't do anything about it, but perhaps you can help me understand what caused it. It seemed like it worked when freshly installed, perhaps I can keep it that way for longer? I do know you said you can't do anything about it, but perhaps you can help me understand what caused it. It seemed like it worked when freshly installed, perhaps I can keep it that way for longer? It all depends on the order of when the kext's are loaded. If other kext's load before the audio driver that take up the first 256 MB of address space, then the Envy24 driver can not load. The order of loading kext's is determined by their dependance on other kext's. You can add that dependancy in a kext's plist (so I've read, I haven't tried it). So if you make other kext's dependant on the Envy24 kext, it might start working again. The gfx card drivers are a good candidate I suppose. Another solution is to put only 1 GB of ram in your machine..

imrazor
I've got a M-Audio Delta 410 that I would love to see fully supported. I installed the Envy24 driver (even though my card is not specifically mentioned) and experienced partial success on my analog 1-2 outputs. However, sound is horribly distorted. I see the following in the kernel log: 2/1/09 7:21:34 PM kernel Envy24AudioDevice[0x51ad100]::initHardware(0x4a1c980) 2/1/09 7:21:34 PM kernel Generic Envy24 detected! 2/1/09 7:21:34 PM kernel This specific Envy24 card with subvendor id 121438d6 is not really supported! Only digital out might work. If I inserted the vendor ID 121438d6 into the driver, is there any chance that the sound would sound normal?
tackle
Well I suppose I'm stuck. Seems a true mac developer would be required to figure this out. Perhaps it would work to add a dependency of the sound drivers in the gfx drivers, but I can't find any way to do so. If anyone knows, please feel free to advise! Nope, your codecs are not initialized which is probably why it sounds distorted.
