ESI Juli@ / Envy 24 with OSX86 - Any progress?

Hi Audiodriverwriter,

thx for your reply. I use the Juli@.

I have to say... You did a really great job. But i need this two features and you are the only one who can do this and make the driver perfect. please please help me..

Regarding input gain: the Juli@'s codecs don't have input gain controls, so they won't be available. They just can not be implemented, since they are not there.

One thing that bugs me a little I'm sure someone must of already mentioned this but it's showing as 12ins/10 outs.

Is there the possibility in the future of maybe choosing what card you got in the installer and not only installing it under the right name but right number of in/outs for that card?? Just an idea

Keep up the good work

The driver detects which card it is, but unfortunately the chip always has to use 12/10 channels. Because of the way Core Audio works, I can not simply pass a buffer with less channels to Core Audio. So I hope you can live with this, since any attempt to fix this will cause added latency and performance.

Another thank you, and a small question - is input working on my 2496? 'Cause I can't check it now...

p.s. yeah donation is underway definitely

Yes, analogue input is working on the 2496. The digital in and out don't work (yet), since it was much more complicated to support than I thought. The Envy24HT at least has an integrated digital out, which makes it very easy to support, unfortunately the Envy24 always requires an additional chip that must be programmed.

this may be a LONG stretch, and im not sure what i co do to help, but i have a Turtle Beach Catalina, its a Envy24HT-S card. i tried and failed to get the HT-s driver (as i have learned, the subvendorID) and i tried it again, and thats where it hangs on bootup. here is a link to the card in question. http://support.turtlebeach.com/site/kb_ftp/586.asp

if there is anything you could do, i would greatly appreciate it!

Hi there!

thank you for the driver. I have a Terratec Phase 22 which is working great but I cannot adjust the volume. In the preferences menu, the sound level option is greyed out, so I cannot adjust it.

Any clues?

Thank you!

Hi,

really no chance to get the gain control working ? Do you know the release Date of your new Juli@ driver and will be the midi function included?. What can i do to get Midi and Audio Input working ?

I mean the apple drivers have both of the things working. and i think there are Linux Driver that work too!?

thx4all. have a nice day.

I'll repeat again: the Julia's codec does NOT have a gain control. If you don't believe me, look yourself: http://www.asahi-kasei.co.jp/akm/en/produc...k5358a_f02e.pdf

If ESI made drivers for OSX PPC that included gain controls, you have been fooled thinking it was gain, when in reality it has been software based digital volume (which does no good to anyone).

What can i do to get Midi and Audio Input working ?

Well, audio input will just work and you'll have to wait a long while I'm afraid until I make a MIDI driver. I have some other stuff to do I'm afraid.

Envy24HT Version 0.5.0 adds input gain and volume controls to the Phase22. I may have messed up the Juli@ output controls in the process, please let me know if they still work!

hey audiodriverwriter,

is this of any use to you to help on the Maya 44 mk3?

Cheers,

Andy

Hey,

Heh, now you can see for yourself what major work it is to support the Maya. And note that I can't just use the alsa code, it's GPL. But anyway, good to see that it is possible since they've done it, but it doesn't seem like something I can quickly add, so I won't do this any time soon, sorry.

I just finished installing iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5. Everything is working great so I put in my Audiophile 2496 and installed the latest drivers but when I go to my System Profiler and click on PCI Cards under the Hardware section, it tells me that "This computer does not appear to have any PCI cards installed". Anyone experience this before? Here are the specs for the rest of my computer:

Intel DG31PR mATX LGA775 G31 DRR2 SATA Video Sound GBLAN Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 Dual Core Processor LGA775 2.66GHZ 1066FSB 3MB

Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 4GB DDR2 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-18 240PIN Memory

ASUS EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/256M GeForce 8400GS 500MHZ 256MB DDR2 PCI-E VGA DVI HDTV Out

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 3.5IN 500GB SATA2 8.5MS 7200RPM 32MB Cache

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W ATX12V 24PIN Active PFC ATX Power Supply

Not sure if any if that matters for this specific problem, but thought I'd post it anyways.

I never saw it there, but it works perfect. Maybe it`s just cosmetics there.

I couldn't hear any sound coming out. I turned my speakers up all the way too. I'm using M-Audio Studiophile AV-30 speakers connected to the output of my Audiophile 2496 via an RCA cable.

I believe that you need to connect the speakers to the output first, than you need to setup the right output channel in Audio Midi Setup. ;)

Success!

Yeah that was a typo. I just corrected it. Thanks.

I'll try the Audio Midi Setup in the morning. If that does indeed work, then there should be no cause for alarm that it isn't showing up in my PCI devices?

Any possibility of supporting the Via Envy24?

http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/audio/controllers/envy24/

It's onboard my Shuttle SN25P

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2005/06/13/shuttle_sn25p/1

Cheers!

The Via Envy24 is the same as the ICE (ICEnsemble). There is little chance that I'll make a driver for the shuttle though.

Good to hear!

No, it will take a while until something is going to be added for the Juli@ (that is digital in and MIDI). The analogue audio part is working.

Hi Audiodriverwriter,

i have on question.

Why does the original Juli@ driver not work. Other drivers like my Printer HL-2030 work with the original driver from the original mac disc. What is the difference?. Can you tell me ? thx4allyourwork

The original driver is for PowerPC and won't work on Intel (even under emulation). Actually, I even think that the M-Audio control panel has a check coded into it, since the program itself says it is not running on the correct processor when started.

Is that printer driver from a PowerPC mac disc or an Intel one?

The Printer driver is from the Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4 9E25 Retail Disc.

Thanks to those who replied. It works now! I had to enable it as the Output source (it was currently set to the on-board audio). It still doesn't show in system profiler but I'll give that link a shot. Thanks again!
