Cloudane
Brilliant, thanks for the list. Like an idiot I tried a random one and rebooted while my backup DSDT is stored on my desktop... with spaces in the filename (which DSDT= command doesn't seem to support). I am now stuck booting to a blank screen even with DVI. -x doesn't help. ##### doesn't help (kernel panic at desktop), DSDT=null doesn't help (same problem), AtiConfig=Duckweed makes no difference, AtiFb=Duckweed makes no difference. Halp! :x Edit: halp no longer required. Forgot I can simply use Screen Sharing from my Mac Mini and fix it from there *foreheadslap*
jsl
Thought I'd bricked my card for a moment there. All I did was try booting with GraphicsEnabler=Yes (clutching at straws trying to get DP working on boot) and even from a cold boot the card didn't work at all.. fan sat at full speed, no BIOS display, nothing. Thankfully I just had to plug a Dvi cable in. Makes me wonder if the DP on my card is actually at fault rather than OSX. Do others have it working on boot with 6850s? The best way to make sure whether your DP port is working is booting to Windows 7 in which you can activate any display port of your 6850 card. Also you need a DP-->DP cable and monitor. Alternative choice is using a DP-->HDMI, DP-->DVI, or DP-->VGA convertor and monitor.
InfiniteFool
Could the problem I mentioned a few pages ago be due to the system using the wrong driver? How do you change the driver in the boot settings, anyway?

Yeah was being paranoid, I don't think it's faulty, just it's strange that nobody else seems to be mentioning the problem of DP not working on boot of OS X. (I have a DP cable and monitor.) It works fine if I unplug it and plug it back in again (regardless of framebuffer thus far- it does the same even with the default without any DSDT edits). Thinking it must be a driver issue, just I'd be more comfortable if someone else was having the same problem!

With correct DSDT, Chameleon bootloader, Kabyl boot file and patched ATIFramebuffer as well as those cables/monitors I mentioned, my Asus 5850 and MSI Hawk 5770 cards can get DP working on boot of Hackintosh 10.6.5/10.6.6/10.6.

doof
Just for info a new one has appeared in the latest lion update 'Muskgrass' Here is the display connector info for the various FB personalities derived from BCC9's perl script in the 487O HDMI thread. Don't have dp2 so no info for muskgrass. None of the personalities exactly match the 5 port 6870. Duckweed matches the 4 port 6850. Cattail and bulrushes seem to match the 6 MDP eyefinity cards. According to Mucha this is the table of connectors: 00 04 = Display Port 00 08 = HDMI 04 00 = DVI 02 00 = LVDS 10 00 = VGA Kext ATI6000Controller Personality: Pithecia ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 3 Disk offset in decimal 500508 0000000 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 02 04 0000010 04 00 00 00 14 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 04 03 0000020 10 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 01 0000030 Personality: Bulrushes ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 6 Disk offset in decimal 500572 0000000 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 01 0000010 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 02 02 0000020 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 03 03 0000030 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 04 04 0000040 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 10 00 05 05 0000050 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 20 01 06 06 0000060 Personality: Cattail ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 4 Disk offset in decimal 500668 0000000 02 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 29 05 00 00 00 00 00 05 0000010 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 01 0000020 00 04 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 02 02 0000030 00 04 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 03 03 0000040 Personality: Hydrilla ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 5 Disk offset in decimal 500732 0000000 02 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 09 01 00 00 12 04 03 03 0000010 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 01 0000020 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 02 02 0000030 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 05 04 0000040 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 10 00 04 05 0000050 Personality: Duckweed ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 4 Disk offset in decimal 500828 0000000 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 04 01 0000010 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 05 02 0000020 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 03 04 0000030 00 02 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 06 05 0000040 Personality: Fanwort ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 4 Disk offset in decimal 500892 0000000 02 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 29 05 00 00 00 00 00 04 0000010 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 01 0000020 00 04 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 02 02 0000030 00 04 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 03 03 0000040 Personality: Elodea ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 5 Disk offset in decimal 500956 0000000 02 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 09 01 00 00 12 04 03 03 0000010 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 01 0000020 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 02 02 0000030 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 04 04 0000040 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 10 00 05 05 0000050 Personality: Kudzu ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 2 Disk offset in decimal 501052 0000000 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 03 03 0000010 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 01 0000020 Personality: Gibba ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 5 Disk offset in decimal 501084 0000000 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 05 01 0000010 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 04 02 0000020 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 06 04 0000030 00 02 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 03 05 0000040 04 00 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 03 0000050 Personality: Lotus ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 3 Disk offset in decimal 501180 0000000 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 01 01 0000010 00 04 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01 00 00 21 03 02 02 0000020 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 22 05 04 04 0000030 Personality: Ipomoea ConnectorInfo count in decimal: 3 Disk offset in decimal 501244 0000000 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 12 04 01 05 0000010 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 11 02 04 03 0000020 10 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 02 0000030
Cloudane
Useful list. My 6850 (ASUS) has 2 DVI, 1 DP and 1 HDMI. Duckweed seems correct from that. Just this one little DP issue and it'd be 100%!

the ATI6000Controller: Muskgrass and Juncus Something looks a bit screwy with that info - possibly I didn't run the script correctly or installing the kexts onto a very borked snow leopard install with a 6970 and running the script over screen sharing has messed it up idk It may be useful for the names and number of outputs of the current lion framebuffer personalities though Link to comment Cloudane
Given up with displayport for now. It's all a bit over my head. Anyone had mouse issues with the new cards? (As unrelated as it may sound). Ever since switching from the NVidia "Freezemeister" GTX 460 to the ATI 6850 my mouse has had the hiccups. It just fairly randomly and frequently (once every 5-30 seconds) stops moving for half a second - just long enough and frequent enough to be irritating. It's one of those fancy Logitech MX Revolution mice, and about 1 in 10 times that it does this little pause the scroll wheel clicks off from "ratchet mode" into "spinny mode". It's the sort of thing that normally happens if the batteries are running low, except this now happens even when fully charged. I have removed NVinject.kext and rebuilt the cache as that was suggested at one point for someone with mouse issues but alas, it didn't help. It's driving me nuts - any ideas greatly appreciated! samsonluk
Here you go - personality info from latest Lion kexts.. Kext ATI5000Controller Hi Andy, Any chance to add HD5470 Mobility suppot to ati.c in your boot? Just tried your boot with HD5470M and got ATI card POSTed, reading VBIOS from legacy space Memory allocation error! Addr=0xdeadbeef, Size=0x0. File=ati.c, Line=700 I believe that is due to there is simply no entry for this card in ati.c. FYI, HD5470M: Vendor ID: 0x1002. Device ID: 0x68E0 SubSys ID: 0x04561028 Default framebuffer personality = Eulemur

You're the first person I've seen with such a problem with a 6850, don't worry though I'm sure it's a simple fix.

Have you tried to use a normal, wired USB mouse to see if it has any issues? Just to eliminate the possibility that it's your mouse that's having problems. I say this because I have the Logitech Performance MX (the follow-up to the Revolution). It works great now, but the first one I got was defective. Every 30 seconds or so, it would stop tracking the cursor, skip a bit, and then it would return. This was even with a full battery charge. I called Logitech support and had them exchange me a new one, and now it has worked perfectly so far for over a year. The tech explained that the defective mouse was "going to sleep" intermittently. It's supposed to do that to save power, but only after a much longer period of inactivity. Maybe your mouse is starting to fail around the same time as when you replaced video cards. It's unlikely, but stranger things have happened. I have a 6870 and not a 6850 like you, but I doubt that would be the issue.
Cloudane
Could be worth a shot if I can find one. Will have to get Windoze up and running again as well and compare with that. What I can say is I've tried a completely clean install on a blank HDD without any other drives installed and the mouse still hitches and the Displayport still doesn't work on boot so at least it rules out residual NVidia cruft for both problems. Curiously it seems a little happier with the receiver in another USB port (2 of the ones I tried - in 2 places, not on top of each other), most ironically the one closest to my bluetooth dongle (which btw has never conflicted with the mouse before so I can't see why it would now). If it was still the 1990s I'd think it was an IRQ conflict! Invariably though when you fart around blind and think you've fixed this type of thing it proves you wrong within a few hours. samsonluk
Give the attached a try Hi Andy, thank you so much! Your boot now works with HD5470 Mobility! It works with correct resolution 1366x768 but no QE/CI, no screensaver and display won't go to sleep mode. No "water effect" when adding widget to desktop and white translucent taskbar, cannot see spotlight because it only show a white box same white box shown in the background instead of "water ripple" effect while dropping widget in dashboard. I believe this should be ATI kext's problem...

patriox
I got it working with Duckweed framebuffer, however it's not working intentional! While my screen is connected with DVI connecter there is nothing on my screen. Then here's the kicker: When i put my tv into the HDMI (While still connected in DVI with my computer screen) THERE comes the picture on my computer screen. however the resolution is 1280x768 or something. and whenever i plug out some of the cables it's disconnecting the other screen too! If anyone can give me advices please do so!

It may help also if you can tell us what graphics card you are using, which version of os x you are on and what you have tried so far etc.
