The Chameleon installer totally hosed my machine, no ability to fix it. Going to have to build from scratch again. Might attempt installing with something other then iATKOS like a retail install but not tonight. Too much stuff going on.

^_^ On the plus side at least we can blame the iAtkos install for not liking chameleon

Hi @injectxnl and @^Andy^,

From my experiment with suggestion from @altee, I found that we can put any incorrect value then driver will auto select working framebuffer.

You should try this :

- Connect as many displays as you can

- Use AtiConfig=RadeonFramebuffer

And see which personality the driver select in ioreg. In my case, using this method, Gibba is selected and give me 2 of 3 ports working without patch anything.

But in doing so do you not also get the geekbench and dvd player crashing back?

andy, i have a problem.

my card still have working QE/CI, but for now i tested wtih GLViewer my fps just 500++, before i got this problem, i had 3200++ FPS.

why is that?

:P T_T

Which renderer is displayed in "Extensions"? Mine: ATI Radeon BA Prototype OpenGL Engine.

And what exactly did you change before you had the crashing DVD Player.

So you also use the "Duckweed" framebuffer? If not or if so, maybe you could try other framebuffers and test if they have better performance.

i used Gibba for the framebuffer, i tried with Duckweed and the same result,

should i reinstall my hackintosh ?

Andy, can u help me?

Sadly I can't find a retail disc install option that doesn't involve multiple installs which I don't really want to do.

##### won't boot the installers, EmpireEFI KPs at AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. So not sure what to do at this point, I suppose I could attempt to install iATKOS without a bootloader and install once manually after the fact.

For my install, and both Radeon 5770 and 6870, i had to use GraphicsEnabler=No.

Is anyone in here using a Apple Cinema Display with these drivers on a 6xxx series card? Read a few people saying that their ACD that was working on a 5xxx card prior to these drivers doesn't work anymore, causing them to revert to the 10.6.6 solutions (which of course isn't an option for a 6xxx series card)

I am successfully using the 27" ACD with my Sapphire 6850.

Yep, successfully using a Apple Cinema Display LED 27" on a Sapphire 6870.

Hex if you have no luck with ##### try the boot cd I knocked up - it's tailored for a specific P67 board but I've used it on several asus socket 775 based boards to do a retail install without problems so chances are it will work on other chipsets too.

If you can't get anything else working give it a shot - it's here http://www.mediafire.com/?bjf5a8gemiuc2p8 if you need it - Just don't run the package that's on the cd if you do manage to get installed as that will almost certainly cause you a whole new world of pain unless you have the same motherboard as me!

Download any kexts that you need for network etc first as you most likely wont have working network after installing using that cd. If it works and you get installed use the boot cd to boot to the desktop then install your network kexts etc and install chameleon rc5 - from a retail install that should almost certainly work this time!

P.S. I'm currently reinstalling to my P5Q Deluxe (spare pc) which was also originally an iAtkos install because thats also gone {censored} up (can still boot but the graphics are fubar if I use the AtiConfig flag no matter which framebuffer I use and that's with the 6870's that were in this pc and I know work with those framebuffers!). Got a nasty feeling it still had the nvidia enabler installed (that pc has been through a lot of different cards recently and is a total mess).

Still no luck using your bootloader Andy. Error memory allocation on Ati.c line xxx.. could u explain this why? its happens only on mobility 6470m

Try a different framebuffer - which reminds me that I've noticed something very odd regarding the framebuffers and what I believe is the EDID detection. Will post more on that later.

Has anyone been able to resolve the DVD Player, Geekbench, etc., crashes on a 6850? I have tried every framebuffer for Radeon 6000 as well as this method of specifying an invalid framebuffer. IORegistryExplorer still shows RadeonFramebuffer, and the apps still crash. GraphicsEnabler is enabled, and I am using Andy's boot file in this post. My card is a Sapphire 6850 connected with DisplayPort.

The crashing has to do with os x defaulting to loading the radeonframebufer as opposed to when you manually specified your FB like Motmot, Vervet, etc. Two users on netkas have posted that using ^Andy^'s modified rc5 branch but performance takes a hit in some areas but it's definitely a great workaround by ^Andy^.

I know 3 that work for the 6870 verdi you might have some luck if they can work for the 6850 though I can't say for sure they will.

-Elodea (reported to kill mini DP port from a user)

-Gibba (reported to kill mini DP port from a user and apparently a 50% performance drop)

-Ducweed (seems to be the most stable one 6870 wise because the DP ports are still functional but there is still a bit of a performance hit)

First of all, thanks and Andy and company for finding that great workaround with his version of Chameleon RC5. I'm currently trying out Gibba and Duckweed framebuffers, which seem to both work great except I get very strange over-exposed gamma in Source engine steam games. Does anyone else get this? I'm very close to a perfect working setup here. The other thing I'm not getting is output from the secondary DVI to another monitor, but I will try it as displayport as a workaround soon. My card is a reference HIS 6870... everything else seems to work beautifully.

Thanks :)

I've seen a few comments about a performance hit using the graphics enabler so I did a comparison and get almost identical scores in GLview both with and without it on a 6870. :(

http://3rr0rists.net/driver/sleepenabler-f...7-3264-bit.html

its for 10.7.0 and 10.7.1 kernel version.

for 10.7.3 use pmVersion=23 as kernel flags.

works for me.

Thanks for your advice. I installed the kext in /Extra, added <string>pmVersion=23</string> in com.apple.Boot.plist. It booted with a Kernel Panic. Took me some time to have it working again. Boot parameters didn't work as expected.

Other thoughts maybe?

Pretty sure yes:
