Well, started from scratch. Still stuck @ permissions in terminal. After sudo su, then my password I type chown -R 0:0 /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext, then (enter), and I'm @ sh-3.2# (prompt). I type chmod - R 755 /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext I get :

chmod: R: No such file or directory

chmod: 755: No such file or directory

 

So, I'm really sorry, I tried again to google the answer, can't figure it out, and I'm still not @ trying to do the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] disk yet! Take care, johnm

By the way, did you copy FakeSMC.kext properly?

You need to copy it to your hard drive first.

 

Updated again, tried to simplify the instructions a bit.

 

I'm not sure what's going on, it works for everyone else. Are you sure you're following it correctly?

I just copied the FakeSMC.kext from my extra folder on my main hackintosh drive. I actually think it might have chmod –R 755 right this last time. I don't know what happened. I did it over and over. But this last time it returned to the prompt, so maybe it worked. Now my [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] drive. I swear, I've redone this drive ten times on different flash drives that do work, and have worked. I get a flash that says MBR Start! (In red) and then thats it. I tried pressing "U", nothing I press "D" nothing. I can only think it has something to do with having three main sata drives. Maybe I have to unplug two of those drives or something. It's crazy. Hacks sure keep you crazy! johnm

Okay so, I think your problem for chmod is that sometimes there is an unwanted character after FakeSMC.kext. So for example you typed

 

chmod -R 755 FakeSMC.kext .

 

The "." causes problems. Also, maybe the "(space)" i.e. " " can affect it.

So yeah.. Maybe anyway..

 

For your [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url], I'm sure you've set it up correctly since I also experience a red flash saying "MBR Start!" followed by a white line for a few seconds, then it boots into the GUI. At first, it took me some time to realise that the resolutions are incorrect, so I kept pressing "U" til it got to a visible state. If not, try "V" which refreshes all drives and refreshes the boot loader.

 

if it doesn't work, then... I am not sure.

Hi I use the same motherboard and at the beginning of the install it gives me a kernel panic AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.

 

Can you post your bios settings?

or pm me?

Hi, are you using DSDT.aml? If so, remove it from the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] drive and try again. DSDT's cause HPET and KPs on these mobos and aren't quite supported.

Yes thank you. It seems that dragging the file to terminal added an extra space. Now that is o.k. I figured out my [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] problem, it seems that my #1 drive was blocking the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] gui. I"m past gui now, and have installed. My problem is kernal panic. First it was /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist block, then AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement called panic, I added nullAppleIntelCPUPowermanagement, then It just loads a few lines and stops. I have my dsdt in [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. Next I just keep reading and trying and reading. I'm pretty stuck. I guess my next attempt is putting more of my SL extra file kexts in lions S/L/E. Hopefully someone will benefit from the little I've overcome with all your guys help.

if I put my dsdt.aml in the sub-file " dsdt " on my key usb, I have KP then (no HPETs available), but if I put it on the root of my key usb, then my dsdt.aml is read by Lion (at least, it is to be what it seems to me), I even pointed out better one reactivity and fluidity without QE / CI :rolleyes:

Mine booted the Base system, then loading mach_kernel, loading drivers went for a little bit then halfway down the screen the loading dots stopped then brings me to a new screen saying darwin v11 blah blah then nothing after that, i have tryed quite a few flags no luck :( is this build 11A390 or is this the first release of the dev build or second?

Finally, Finally got it! I'm exhausted all the reading and messing. I'll get back with some info. It may all be because of my board, but I might be able to give a few pointers. It was like a puzzle that would never end. But, I'm glad I stuck with it. So far it's very smooth and fast. Will write back. Thanks to you DaviDemon et al!, johnm

HowTo Lion on Asus P5W DH Deluxe

 

What you need:

1x USB Stick

1x free partition / USB HD

 

1. Boot Stick:

 

Windows: create with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url].zip (tool inside) your bootable stick

 

Mac: use tool inside folder new_version, copy [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url].zip efi content to stick

 

2. mount Lion Dev Image

3. mount BaseSystem: open /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg

4. restore Base Image to a 10GB partition

5. delete link "Packages" from Base System partition /System/Installation

6. copy Packages from Dev Image to Base Image Partition to /System/Installation using Pathfinder/ForkLift etc. … keep that invisible flag (!)

7. copy fakesmc.kext to Base Image partition to /S/L/E

8. activate superuser in Terminal: su

9. in Terminal: cd to folder /S/L/E on Base Image partition

10. chown -R 0:0 fakesmc.kext

11. chmod -R 755 fakesmc.kext

12. boot that stick, wait until screen turns black, press W

13. press U to 1024x768, or better 1280x1024

14. press M enter, BootArgs -v

15. press G

16. select Base System Image partition, hit enter

17. install Lion

18. go to Snow and delete /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist from Lion installed HD

19. again copy fakesmc.kext to Lion installation, set rights

20. copy other needed Kextst (e.g. NVEnabler, Disabler, VoodooHDA) to /System/Library/Extensions on Lion installed HD

21. copy KextUtility to Lion installed HD

22. boot from stick, select Lion installed HD

23. in Lion execute KextUtility, reboot ...

 

That's it …

 

REMEMBER: on Asus P5W DH Deluxe set in BIOS USB Legacy Support to Enabled, AUTO will only work sometimes and you lose USB connections

 

./edit: putting Kexts in Kext folder of the stick will not work with P5W/[url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]

Got further ran into a AppleUSBEHCI prob waiting for root blah blah, my work around hopefully i will extract the dmg, do the changes,burn to dvd then try run install from a dvd instead.

We use the same board. In fact, our processes for lion install about the same. What I would say is, that I spent alot of time putting my dsdt in [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] in different locations, when it was not needed. If I could get restart and sleep, that would be my next tasks.

firs off thanks for the guide, really helps ppl.

i have problems booting the Lion installer from [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url], i have tried various flags, kexts and dsdt but it stops on loading drivers afew dotted lines.........and thats it, just hangs there. Any suggestions? I have P5Q PRO, thanks and keep up the good work.
