I was doing something along the same lines by building an installation virtual disk with the actual Lion image inside of it. I missed some of the com.apple.Boot.plist changes so will try again. Works beautifully thanks. btw I also use the VMware unlocker as per the above link. About to give VMware tools a try, to see what works. Installed VMware Tools from latest VMware Fusion, works! just don't resize window, instead change resolution from display properties. Fullscreen or any kind of resize will cause erratic behaviou, screen would go blank and lots of artifacts show. But if you choose resolution from display preferences it works. No good in workstation yet, BUT Zenith's ensonicaudiopci, and vmsvga2 seem to work, just pacifist and kext util in. Using the older (10.0) flash works well in firefox. But, one thing that I've always noticed with my 10.6.6 install is that, my browser (Chrome/Safari) will always freeze whenever I go to any sort of intensive website. I think you have to go into chrome help and look for the info to help you uninstall the pre-installed flash inside chrome, and use the old flash 10.0.45, installed into applications, then it will work for any browser you use.. A Lion machine I built on Fusion has had no problems booting and running on Workstation. I increased video RAM to 128mb, and its happily running 1920x1200, but is a bit dodgy swapping between fullscreen and windowed. Still just using the VM tools svga driver. Still no sound for me. No darwin.iso won't work as some pf the internal data structures have changed and until we see 10.7 code not sure it can e fixed (well according to Netkas). You need to use the EFI BIOS option and .ollow the unlocker thread I posted earlier, but as of speaking I can't get it to work on Workstation 7.1.
