Hi guys,

I'm trying to boot Lion DP1 on my MSI Wind U100 Netbook. I'm using Andy's patched DP1 kernel, the patched PCEFI for 10.7 and 10.6, Disabler.kext, fakesmc.kext, VoodooPS2Controller.kext, and no DSDT. Using this, I'm getting the kernel panic shown in the following two screenshots:

Screenshot 1- http://cl.ly/0J1u0r3o1J020p2d1l3e

Screenshot 2- http://cl.ly/1P3J0f0d402r0Q1C0r46

Any ideas what could cause this? I thought the patched kernel supports ACPI, and that's what the kernel panic appears to be. I even get the same exact kernel panic using the Chameleon RC5 752 Lion+Snow found in a different thread. I have Lion DP2 available for testing as well, but the DP2 kernel does not support 32 bit, so it seems pointless to test that. Any help is extremely appreciated!

Use 755 boot loader and this DSDT (this panic often means that OS can't find ACPI tables).DSDT.aml.zip our net books are equal

BTW: could you upload your patched AppleIntelIntregratedFramebuffer.kext and AppleIntelGMA950.kext?

Here they are:27ae_GMA950.zip

Thanks a bunch for your reply. I tried Chameleon 2 RC5 v755 and the DSDT you attached, but had the same exact kernel panic when trying to boot. Should I be using a special kernelcache with Andy's DP1 kernel? I have tried booting without the kernelcache and using the default kernelcache. Any other ideas? Thanks again for your help.

I've got the same with my GTX 570.

This looks like OpenGL doesn't work on your machine, too.

Could you please test it under Cinebench OpenGL benchmark or another 3D application like Google's SketchUp?

There is another thing which gave me major troubles, and I wonder if I am the only one.

Could somebody confirm mini PCIe Atheros or Broadcom wireless cards working?

I borrowed an orginal Apple branded card from a friend and put it in my machine. I also did a fresh install with that card, but I still get those nasty Segmantation Errors and configd crashes:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=250252

Is this a Lion beta thing or could this be caused by Chameleon?

However it's working 100% on Snow Leopard out of box without ANY modifications, enablers or whatsoever.

I've finally had the time to run Cinebench. OpenGL works fine, but the performance is {censored}. Only get about 10.63 FPS on a GTX 570 which is far below a Radeon 4870 on 10.6.2.

As for your issues with the Airport card, I have a Broadcom BCM43xx Airport card from a Macbook running fine with an adapter in my machine. Works straight out of the box like it should. It's possible the card you're using isn't supported on Lion as it's a part used in a older machine that won't support Lion maybe?

Hi,

My BCM 4321 ran out of the box with DP1. When I upgraded to DP3, it seems IO80211 changed and broke BCM43xx. I had to revert back to the DP1 Kext. I assume you had the same issue.

Mine seems to be working fine in the latest 11a459e update, I never had to change to a DP1 kext. I did change the ACPI kexts over from Snow Leo ones in order to get past the PCI Configuration Begin error, it might be possible that did something?

Thanks for reporting on the WLAN and OpenGL issues guys. I might try the DP1 Kext swap trick.

I also only get about 10fps. It seems only to work reliable when I plug my ATI 5770 to my monitor. In future I would like to get rid of Ati though.

Usually Cinebench's OpenGL benchmarks doesn't start and it freezes my whole machine. Needless to say other 3D apps won't work either.

The WLAN cards I have tested so far are the Atheros 9285 (pci168, 2b) which is close to the natively supported (pci168, 2a)

In SL it works with adding device ids. In Lion it works only when deleting System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Apple80211Monitor.bundle

I tried some sophisticated DSDT adjustments (with help of others, too) but that didn't help to get rid of Segmantion Failure, configd crashes a.s.o.

Testing a native Apple Wifi card Atheros (pci168, 24)....

In SL it works out of box.

In Lion it only works like before when deleting Apple80211Monitor.bundle

Big drawback is: I don't know the status about my wlan connection. The airport menu is just greyed out.

The device id is listed on Info.plist at AirPortAtheros21.kext, so I guess it's not deprecated?

It does connect to the internet and wlan router, but.....well let's put it that way: I am not amused! :)

Can someone check lion setup if it has AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext, and if does, is it i386 or x64 (kext wizard app -> kext info) ?

Mac OS X Lion AppleIntelGMAX3100.kext v7.0.45 is i386 according to the Kext Wizard.app.

Hi Again,

IO80211 seems to have a dependency on IOPCIFamily. So if you swapped the ACPI + IOCPI kexts (like I did), you may need to use the relevent IO80211.

Did you manage to get Trackpad preference pane working on your Dell M1530?

Cheers

I'm trying to boot Lion DP3 on msi-wind u100 using Chameleon RC5 759 with patched boot file and Andy's Atom kernel (thank you !). I have installed the patched IntelGMA kexts (from SL) and removed the AppleIntelGMA950 and Framebuffer to correct for display issues.

Chameleon is properly loading the kexts, but after all kexts have loaded it reboots.

last msg: FADT: restart fix applied !

I'm not using any DSDT.aml...

I suspect the kernel... will there be an Atom (n270) 32 bit kernel for DP3 ?

ANY other ideas ?? :D

cheers,

intrax

The customized Trackpad.prefPane does fail to load, but I haven't looked into the causes or solutions yet as the trackpad already scrolls and generally functions similarly to the Snow Leopard.

Thanks :)

No problemo! ;)

Hi DarwinX,

Thanks for your response.

I believe the issue is related to the ALPS trackpad. The Synaptics one works OK as I have tried it on an ACER6930g.

Is there any way one can enable the 'Tapping' on the M1530 without going through the trackpad prefpane?

Thanks and Regards. :)

I was able to boot Lion DP1 on my MSI Wind netbook using Andy's DP1 kernel and Chameleon 2 RC5 r755, but I am getting stuck at the error "There was a problem installing 'Mac OS X'. Try reinstalling." I have tried using a custom OSInstall.mpkg from another site that gets the installer to bypass 64-bit CPU checking, but that hasn't helped. Thanks everyone.

So lion is to be available in the app store only. So in order to do an install on a fresh disk on a hackintosh, you'll have to use a bootloader setup that's lion compatible, install snow leopard, upgrade to 10.6.7 to get the app store and then upgrade in the app store. hmmm.

And as far as I can see the same is true even if you have a $3000 mac pro.

Has anyone installed DP4?

Yes, i did it via a clone installation.. works good.. but screen brightness is very low, even if i turn it up it dosent do much change.

Booting verbose, i can see that it happends somewhere in between fakesmc and a error message about being unable to generate c-states...

If you can just manage to run the Lion installer once, on a real Mac or a hackintosh, you can save a disk image of the new Lion installation immediately after the installer has finished, before running setup. Then you can use that disk image when you need to set up a new drive or partition. As far as I know, OS X installations always contain the same files, regardless of the machine they're installed on.
