The ripple effect can only be seen when using the dashboard overlaid on the desktop like in previous versions of OSX. If you have the dashboard in it's own separate space with the dark grey background then you won't see a ripple effect. I'm typing this from memory, but I think you can change how dashboard works in the prefs.

So ##### works fine, I am trying to use the sources from netkas, I edited them as per cparm's instructions. Tho I couldn't edit it to if (ret 0){ ... compile errors. I had to make it if (ret=0){ for it to compile. The boot finds the kernelcache now but I still get the DF. Anyone have any advice on a consistent way to bypass the DF ?

I just wish someone with the i7/i5 with built-in Intel GMA report the result. I know I will put on Lion on my next HTPC build with Core i5 2500K.
I did. ##### won't boot on my h67. netkas's patches to chameleon rc3 won't boot either as they lack sandy bridge support. The diffs in the valv branch of chameleon are substantial, so it's not easy for me to fold sandy bridge support back into netkas's code. I've read that lion's kernel itself doesn't yet have sandy bridge support anyways, so it's a moot point it seems.

Hi, nice, to read again your Posts.. (know you from the "beginning" 10.4.6, Audio-Kext Editing..)

So, i had success to bypass, (think it is a Timing-Related Problem), using the Chameleon RC5 with the Bootfiles, provided on www. root86.org, set Time-Out to 3, GUI=No and the right Default Partition=hd(x,x), after see the Text just press about 1/2 Second the Return-Key, not the Enter from Numberspad.

If this is not working i have tied with Success to press and hold the Retuern-key just the Text "Loading Operation System" appears on the Screen.

Maybe this is set the System to a Busy-State, so it will work…

but i have to try still 10 Times to get a successful Boot.

I've been using the boot from netkas/cparm with Chameleon v2.0-RC5 r730 for a week now as my main OS. After the first couple of days its settled down to bypas the DF on the first or second attempt, using -v -usecache. If it fails on the second boot attempt, i use -F -v -usecache, and it'll probably bypass the DF on the next attempt.

Just downloaded the .dmg

I'll test it and adapt the kernel so it works on Intel Atom too (as I have one of these CPU's...).

I'll keep you guys posted...

'smbstatus' doesn't seem to exist in this version of Lion. I looked for '/usr/bin/smbstatus' and elsewhere.

And if you try:

smbd -V

I want to see if the smb version is upgraded.

Thanks for all.

Is your QE/CI working ?

How did you make it work

I don't see no wifi on your bar or in your windows

got everything working on G41M-ES2L rev 1.0 with Q8400, GeForce GT220 1024 fully working, NetGear WN311B, some bluetooth dongle. Also audio w/all ports working, restart, sleep and shutdown work and all usb ports. Anything I missed?

All running great just like Snow Leopard.

I am using DSDT.aml with only Fakesmc.kext in the extra folder!!!!

Just waiting on Chameleon to update so I can have a reliable boot just like Snow :D

chown -R 0:0 /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install/System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext

type this

sudo chown -R 0:0 /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install/System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext then type in your password

I've found a solution that wil allow you to install OS X Lion under VMWare Workstation 7.1 (Windows, ...)

To make it work you first run cmd as administrator

You cd to the path of the Sysprobs Lion Files

Next you cd into macosx_guest_vmware_7

And then cd into macosx_guest_vmware-7

Run windows.bat to patch VMWare.

Next copy the Lion_107 folder to your Virtual Machines.

Start VMWare

Drag Mac OS X Server 10.6 64-bit.vmx into the list with Virtual Machines.

Edit it and add your customly made OS X Lion install partition as a virtual drive (or a physical one, like a USB stick).

Boot up the Virtual Machine and you will be able to install Mac OS X Lion under VMWare. :D

Needed files (except Lion install image) attached below...

darwin.iso contains the VMWare tools (for proper support after install...) :D

NOTE: For the install image make sure you copy the Kernel Cache to the destination.

e.g.

cp "/Volumes/Mac OS X Install ESD/kernelcache" /Volumes/LionInstaller/kernelcache

Also edit com.apple.Boot.plist and make sure the following key is present:

<key>Kernel Cache</key>

<string>\kernelcache</string>

You also need to fake it as Mac OS X Server like this:

cd /Volumes/LionInstaller/System/Library/CoreServices

sudo touch ServerVersion.plist

That's about all of the VMWare specific tips, for making install partition, look up some guides... :)

Download:

http://rapidshare.com/files/453407737/Sysp..._Lion_Files.zip

BTW: I'm currently working on an Intel Atom kernel (32+64 bit) so that Lion can be tested on Atom CPU's too...

Can't promise AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement will work though, need to do some testing on that...

I think you'll find Lion on vmware has been covered in fair detail here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=249304

I made a custom kernelcache with CPU check removed.

It should work for most modern Intel CPU's.

It's very handy that they use Mach-O FAT binaries, compressed with lzss, after ditto -arch <arch_you_want> kernelcache kernelcache.<arch>.lzss you can use prelink_tool -d kernelcache kernelcache.<arch>.lzss kernelcache.<arch>

You can then bin hack the kernel and binaries inside and afterwards use prelink_tool -e kernelcache.<arch> kernelcache_patched.<arch>

After you've done this for all binaries you can copy the Mach-O FAT header, put the other compressed files in the correct order and modify the offsets and sizes.

The offsets should be where lzss starts...

I also attached the prelink_tool I use.

If you hacked it correctly and use file on it within Terminal it should give something like this:

/Users/andyvand/Desktop/kernelcache: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures

/Users/andyvand/Desktop/kernelcache (for architecture i386): data

/Users/andyvand/Desktop/kernelcache (for architecture x86_64): data

This can also be used to determine the architecture order of the original kernelcache.

I also used SVN version of OTX to disassemble the prelink uncompressed binaries (attached below, can also disassemble and parse x86_64)

It still needs some work to make it work for Atom (at least on my N280 it still panicked with kexts not loaded) but I need test reports on this... It could be the boot loader I use (or some setting) that causes this...

Thanks!

Working perfectly on Asus P5E, with DSDT and SMBIOS patching.

Using ##### SMBIOS patching doesn't work and if I put a DSDT.aml in USB I get "no HPETs available" kernel panic.

testes xpc .. duetohdd onto fat32 (already checked with ##### ok) not running

is there a better way from mac to be sure that xpc is good written?

because I have mbrfereidsfder
