-CEOS-
@DreamWatcher and -CEOS-I think you need to have the shellx64.efi file in the efi folder? Grinch
You sound as if using Snow Leopard is a bad thing. Snow Leopard is great and will be for some time yet.ALC888 can work perfectly well with Snow Leopard. I did not mean to make it sound that way, so I apologize. I love using Snow Leopard, I'd just have liked to give Lion a good run. Yes I can get my ALC888 working perfectly fine its just when I use the Digital Out it gives me no sound control (volume up/down) at all and its a pain to have to keep getting up to adjust the sound on my receiver. PGHammer
We need check this on real Mac, maybe this base system not bootable alone (because it not designed to be bootable). If it right, maybe we can use these files to Install Lion from SnowLeo (Like the Install from Leopard in the early days in the SnowLeo era...) The installer in these dmg runnable on SL, but it told, it can't found the Leo files.. Maybe some hacker can look in it a little bit deeper, i think the Installer try to found the pre-copied files on the root disk, but it can't found that... Maybe we can replace the path, where the Installer searching for these files... Actually, you *can* install from SL. As long as you have a target partition large enough, you can install just fine. The issue is *booting* the resultant install (which you have to do from the target partition or via a proper loader), as none of the current HD-installable loaders for Hacks (including those that work with SL) work with Lion. Right now, all the loaders that work with Lion (iPhoneTom's ##### and XPC) require a USB thumbdrive. What would be better would be an ISO image. What is the *smallest* thumbdrive that is required with the current USB method?
Bansaku
Well, since this forum has exploded so rapidly and everyone is talking about installing 10.7.0 Lion, I may as well too (don't say I didn't warn everyone if this site or forum gets shut down for a bit...it has happened...). - Installed (days ago) via XPC. - Boots up just fine, no errors in verbose (minus sound) - SP reports proper memory size and speed, CPU Unknown @ 2.1GHz (Cinebench reports as i7 860 2.88GHz, proper) - DSDT.aml works PERFECTLY if placed in the right folder; no HPET or LPC errors, USB and SATA all report as they should. - Ethernet works with Realtek8xxx.kext - No luck getting audio (ALC888) to work...yet The only problem I have encountered, and am utterly shocked no one else has reported this (perhaps you never noticed), is the fact that ALL video and graphics, as well as the system clock, runs too fast! I remember when the new P55 came out and we had that problem until a patched Chameleon boot file came about. (Busratio=X boot flag). Has anyone else with P55 systems (or any) encountered this?! Thats all. Volume adjust with Digital out, even on real macs, will always be unusable. Even in Windows 7 when playing encoded audio through Digital out it behaves that way. Just the nature of how bitstream works; it sends raw data to the receiver for it to process. You can't adjust the volume of 1's and 0's.

TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
Yes, but caution, never enough, right? It's more if you're actually distributing the 10.7 build then Apple could have more of a reason to step in because it is only intended for the premium mac devs. Discussing about how to install it is a whole other matter. r0ck3r4ever
Hi everyone, First wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped others in booting Mac OS X Lion and the guides that they wrote . Now, for my question. Have been able to boot Lion with #####, but when I get out of verbose and I see the wallpaper of lion, the language selector screen is in the upper left corner (I can only see half of it). My mouse works, but I can't select the language english (because that option isn't visible, because I can only see half of that window...). When I select a language with my keyboard (and press enter), I can see that the installer is preparing installation, but after that, the screen becomes grey (not black, so it's not like the graphic driver fails or my screen is turned off, Mac OS X is still "loaded).... Clearly a graphic issue, but I have a Radeon 4870 XFX in my machine, have also tried manually setting the resolution and loading ATY_init from netkas (his new lion version), but keep having the same issue. Really frustrating to get this far and seeing that wallpaper and (half of) that window and then getting a grey screen XD. Has anyone experienced the same/does anyone have a solution? PS: have snow leo perfectly working on this machine. Hey, Yes I have the same issue. I fixed it with EVOEnabler (installed it in /S/L/E in the instalation partition). But the installation gets stuck unfortunately.

PGHammer
Sorry DarkNovaGamer, I am inexperienced in those types of cards. I'm using ATI which Netkas has provided us with. Maybe.. If you previously used a vanilla next and edited it by adding your dev.id. try it with Lion kexts. If not, try any injectors you may have had in your /E/E in Snow Leopard, because most of them work when you install them in /S/L/E. If not, then I can't help you there, sorry! Two hints: If you can create an additional partition (minimum 20 GB and max of 40 GB) from your existing Hack partition (Disk Utility *does* permit this - I have a 32 GB partition just waiting for Lion), here's an option while we're waiting (either to create a proper thumbdrive kickstart drive using ##### or XPC or, better yet, an ISO-based kickstarter ala Chameleon that can launch from a burned CD or DVD) - 1. Burn the Install Mac OS X ESD image to DVD (safety factor) using DU. It's only the size of an single-layer DVD, so any DVD blank or blankable that works in that drive that DU has no problems with *will work*. (I've also restored the same image to a hard-disk partition on another drive - the same drive that holds my lickety-split Snow DVD image. That way, given a proper kickstarter, I can install Snow, or Lion, or even both in chain-fashion, one after the other.) 2. Start the first phase of the install *from within Snow*. (After all, that's the reason why it's so little.) Aim the install at the newly-created (or emptied) partition. 3. When the first phase of the install finishes, your Hack will restart. Instead of trying to boot into the newly-installed Lion, boot back into Snow as usual (remember, you don't have your kickstarter yet) and wait. 4. One thing we have lots of is time. PGHammer
The size of the USB Thumbdrive doesn't matter - 16MB is enough because only the bootloader is on it! Installation is on HDD! That's why it's kinda frustrating that the bootloader (for some reason) won't work on a CD or DVD drive (a CD-RW would be ideal as it's MUCH smaller, though a DVD-/+R or -/+RW would do in a pinch) - apparently, it's tied specifically to the filesystem (FAT or FAT32), since neither CDFS or ISO9660 will work with either XPC or iPhoneTom's #####. *Curses.*

But it works on another computer just fine, but too bad it has a Pentium 4. The bug may be related as to why *neither* method works on anything but thumbdrives. I've tried building an XPC image and burning it with Disk Utility; however, is there even a way to create a bootable image that way? (Basically, a form of chain-boot - the CD or DVD boots normally, then the EFI loader kickstarts. Similar to tonymac's ##### or older EmpireEFI, but instead launching either XPC or #####.) Just our luck that it would require it all be done from *Windows*.
