5. Battery Recognition *WORKING

6. Sleep *Working from MyHack 1.0, but when waking from sleep trackpad and mouse stop working.

7. HDMI/VGA out working.

8. Dual boot with windows 7

9. Get SD card reader *WORKING (After installing the MyHack 1.0 program)

10. Ethernet Port.

11. Modem

12. Trackpad and keyboard. *WORKING (installed kext from MyHack program)

Ok So How to I get Started? Google is your best friend.

I found a wonderful program call Empire EFI

Installing Snow leopard

1. On my mac I Burned empire efi to a cd, but you can also use a usb drive.

2. After that I change my bios to enable AHCI

3. Boot to Empire EFI CD.

4. When it is booted up Eject the Empire Efi CD and insert your 10.6 install DVD.

5. Press F5 and the install disk should appear, select the disk.

6. After 6 minutes of booting you reach the select your language screen.

7. Go to the top of the screen and click Utilities > Disk Utility

8. Select your HDD and open the "Partition" Tab.

9. Click options on the bottom and select GUID partition, and partition the drive.

10. Get out of Disk Utility and Continue with the installation. ( You may want to change the installation options so as to deselect all the extra software.)

11. Your installation may fail... This is ok.

12. Restart your computer.

13. Put Empire Efi back in the CD drive and boot to it.

14. You Should see your Hard drive when Empire Efi boots.

15. Click on your hard drive to start booting.

Now Snow Leopard is installed.

Boot from the hard drive

1. Use MyHack 1.0 (1.1 never worked for me) and chose options.

2. Go through the list and select everything you will need, just read the descriptions, but you will need the chocolate kernal since we have AMD processor.

3. Once installed restart the computer.

4. If it boots up then it worked if not go through MyHack 1.0 and see if you missed something.

Congrats We just got it to boot up by itself.

*I have not looked into the different kernals yet and don't know what they would or would not do for me so if anyone has a suggestion I would gladly try it out.

Sound

The best Kext I know for our audio is AzaliaAudio.Kext.

Install the kext With Kext Helper and restart the computer.

Now audio output works, but you will notice it is VERY CHOPPY.

I have not found a solution for this, but if you open photo booth at login and keep it up while you do things on the computer the sound is not choppy anymore.

While looking at activity monitor I see photo booth taking 100% of one of my CPUs.

*Further testing implies that if CPU usage is 60% or greater the sound works perfectly, but if it is lower than that the sound is horribly choppy

My recommendation for now is to have photo booth open at startup and assign it to a space and then have finder open after in a different space so you never need to see photo booth.

Congrats Audio Kinda works.

****Working on Audio.

Currently trying to get all audio jacks working through VoodooHDA.kext.

Attached to post is all my dumps for the audio card... including the codec dump

*******Audio update

Now I know I said I was working on VoodooHDA.kext, and I am, but I found how to resolve the Azalia issue.

1. Open /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist in text edit

2. add

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>idlehalt=0</string>

3. Save to desktop then drag in to /Extra/ folder and authenticate.

4. Restart

Congrats we have audio out working.

Battery

1. Using Kext Helper b7 install VoodooBattery.kext.

2. restart

Now we can see our battery life.

Resolution Fix

1. Using Kext Helper b7 install RadeonHD.kext.

2. restart

Now We have Full Resolution, but unfortunately I have found no support for the Radeon HD 4200. So no QE, HDMI or VGA

hey great guide!

I have a NV53 too and same stats, however when i installed the ihack and booted through it, it did the little count down then it flashed the osx boot screen for a second and went to restart and it keeps doing it. do you have any ideas or tricks?

Thanks in advance

Dan

When installing Myhack 1.0 be sure to customize it and select pretty most all kext. Just look at the descriptions and decide if you need it.

One you definitely need is the chocolate kernel, but most are required

I re tryed with the chocolate selected any everything else but it still didn't work... but i heard about something like mach_kernal does that effect this?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

The version of myhack you gave me was alot different then the other one i got, not only did it work but now that i am booting directly instead of empire efi it found the other 3 gigs of ram efi missed.

Thanks again your guide has been so great it is now permanently bookmarked in my new osx nv53!

I am currently on 10.6.5 and everything works great. The only loss of functionality I have seen it the webcam.

I am sure this is an easy fix since it technically runs through usb, but I have been working on the audio driver since I thought it more important, otherwise 10.6.5 is great.
