I installed osx 10.4.6 on my Asus A8V Deluxe on 40GB IDE drive and everything went flowless and working 100% except i can't se my 4 drives where all my media files are - 2 250GB serial drives on VIA serial SATA and 2 160GB IDE drives on Promise. None of the drives are in RAID. Able to see and read from osx the second IDE 80GB drive.

Love the system but unable to access my files.

To my knowledge, Promise controllers are not supported at all in OSX. SATA on VIA should be. There are patches. If you installed the 10.4.6 JaS installation, there was a choice under Customize to install a VIA SATA patch.

Did not find VIA SATA choice under Custom install.

I downloaded APPLEVIAATA.kext today but don't know how to apply it in my already installed OS x.

Anny help will be appreciated wit step-by-step instructions.

Drag the file to System/Library/Extensions on your OSX partition. You might get 2 dialogs: one to replace the existing file and another asking you to Authenticate the file

Go to System/Library and drag the following to the Trash: Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext

Go to the Utilities folder and run Disk Utility. Select your OSX partition on the left and click Repair Permissions on the right.

Reboot.
