mousex888
well, I use chameleon RC2 4 and snow server, CPU=AMD7750 MEM=4G I have patched the libsystemb.b.dylib,and boot with "arch=i386 -force64",all apps working fine both 64bit and 32bit But,in system profiler 64-bit Kernel and Extensions is "No",and when memory usage larger than 3G(more or less) it KP!like before Thanks for your great work! and, sorry for my bad english this is the information: bash-3.2# ./amd_insn_patcher /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib_patched Patching universal binary (3 architectures) Patching X86_64 part (processor 16777223, architecture 0) Code signature removed succesfully (64bit)Patch report (1): 0 instructions patched, 442 bad instructions, patches bypassed: NO Patching I386 part (processor 7, architecture 1) Code signature removed succesfully (32bit)Patch report (2): 1 instructions patched, 31 bad instructions, patches bypassed: NO Skipping non-Intel architecture (2) bash-3.2# sudo mv /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib_patched /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib bash-3.2# sudo update_dyld_shared_cache update_dyld_shared_cache[1307] current i386 cache file invalid because /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib has changed update_dyld_shared_cache[1307] current ppc cache file invalid because /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib has changed bash-3.2#
oolll
Edit: Did some tests - verified that use of Quicktime H264 crashes in 64 bit, but that's not surprising at all. I have yet to test on an older Athlon64. My 4 core Athlon II works great. I have Athlon 64 x2 6000+ everything looks fine, except imovie, which crashes when finalizing project
nawcom
It seems that with Valve apps running through Steam, the app crashes tracing back to _sysenter_trap in libSystem.B.dylib in threads 1+ (doesn't make a difference if I boot without -force64), and thread 0 tracing back to QuickTimeComponents.components. Patching it with amd_insn_patcher fixes it. This is a little different than before, because it would trace back to QuickTimeH264.component without the autopatching (and manually patching it didn't help). But regardless, manually patching it fixes the issue. I have Athlon 64 x2 6000+ everything looks fine, except imovie, which crashes when finalizing project Find out where the crash traces back to. See if its QuickTimeComponents.component like mine did. Many other apps that use QuickTime which couldn't run without manually patching QuickTime libs are running fine, so there's something in this situation that's causing it. I'll {censored} with it some more. Edit: Left 4 Dead 2 now runs fine and plays the Valve intro, but Half Life 2 crashes, now tracing back to QuickTimeH264.Scalar. hehe. *sighs* Another Edit: Manually patching that fixed the issue. nawcom
Hey, thanks for pointing that out, but uhm I'm not sure if I'm doing the patching right, i tried: sudo ./amd_insn_patcher /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents Patching universal binary (2 architectures) Patching I386 part (processor 7, architecture 0) No code signature found, skipping patch Patch report (1): 0 instructions patched, 127 bad instructions, patches bypassed: NO Skipping non-Intel architecture (1) No patches found, not generating output file Could you please describe how you fixed this issue? Thanks run the following: sudo ./amd_insn_patcher /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents.1 sudo mv /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents.1 /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents sudo update_dyld_shared_cache BTW my results: Patching universal binary (2 architectures) Patching I386 part (processor 7, architecture 0) Code signature removed succesfully (32bit)Patch report (1): 10 instructions patched, 127 bad instructions, patches bypassed: NO Skipping non-Intel architecture (1) I just did a test run of a copy of the binary to make sure I wasn't in crazy land when I did it before, and it does patch just fine. Did you previously patch it via cpuid.txt file?

Did you previously patch it via cpuid.txt file? Oh, that might be it, but for removing cpuids I've been using a script i found on this forum due to the buggy marvin utility http://pastebin.com/Pst3S9Yk So the issue for me might be that it's already patched but err "poorly"? Do you know were I can find the original component? I'm not too keen on doing a complete reinstall yet. The output of the command you just gave me was: sudo amd_insn_patcher /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents /System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeComponents.component/Contents/MacOS/QuickTimeComponents.1 Patching universal binary (2 architectures) Patching I386 part (processor 7, architecture 0) No code signature found, skipping patch Patch report (1): 0 instructions patched, 127 bad instructions, patches bypassed: NO Skipping non-Intel architecture (1)
nawcom
The whole purpose of the new kernel is to take away the need to patch. It looks like there are still some issues with a few QuickTime component binaries, but the rest are taken care of, no need to patch. So running that script sort of defeats the purpose of the new features of the kernel. It doesn't break anything, I'm just showing how it's not needed, and why running amd_insn_patcher against an already-patched binary doesn't do anything. BTW I added QuickTimeComponents and QuickTimeH264.Scalar along with previously set libSystem.B.dylib of things to get patched in the pkg installer. I'll look into why the kernel isn't covering it correctly tomorrow since it's late :-P So if people had issues with QuickTime apps tracing back to those, and running the app in 32-bit mode made no difference, either re-download re-run the install pkg from the link I posted, or manually patch them yourself with amd_insn_patcher. Note: Never, ever download pkgs or anything I make from kexts.com. Dunno who puts my stuff up there, I sure don't, and they are most likely outdated, or don't have fixes I've added. Wow, I don't know how I managed to overlook that update, well hl2_osx is working great now, however there are still a few few quirks that I do experience with this kernel: Geekbench http://pastebin.com/k1tymieq Certain IK multimedia vst and Audio unit plugins give me this issue in logic and other DAW's http://pastebin.com/6UFciRfg Oh and Photoshop CS3 http://pastebin.com/9ajQEMcY I don't really know much about interpreting the contents of these crash reports though:S I understand that the script/manually patching defeats the purpose of this kernel, I was just curious if it had broken my system which it has not, hopefully soon we wont need to deal with tools like that too get a fully functional system. gedna
Thank you nawcom on this legacy kernel, everything works, but i just want to clear some things out, first of all in some strange way ( witch i want to understand) 32bit version (without flag -force64) my system (amd phenom 9600), is working much more smoother, geekbench scores higher, graphics seems more smoother and some apps launches more faster (not every one) in other hand 64+32bit gives me that strange glitchy feeling some apps take longer to boot, graphics not that smooth.. can you clear things out on this? or is it just me having this thank you

Geekbench running fine here 64bit/32bit worked without a glitch and so with photoshop cs5 (hw on) 64bit/32bit mode. everything went smooth and looks great with installer pkg that nawcom gave.. sorry cant help much but i never had any crashed except for qt (have to runs on 32bit as nawcom said)

Also vmware fusion does not work, this has been a issue since some revision of ANV's 10.6.4 kernel, prior to that it worked flawlessly. Cs5 apps seems to work just fine indeed, this seems to be an issue with cs3 products, and i don't feel like upgrading my whole master suite just yet, however with previous sl kernels I distinctly remember them "working". Edit: Also torchlight(game purchased on steam) crashes for me: http://pastebin.com/qxida3j1 And I'm experiencing some trouble with logic express when i run it in 32 bit, I can run it in 64 bit but i need to launch it in 32bit every time i need to rescan my AudioUnits plugins(not that often). I was recording just two days ago and it worked fine in 32 bit so I'll check into the issue a bit more. Did a "limited" reinstall and only patched the minimal amount of stuff and now logic works again, also the plug-in issue for the IK multimedia plugins is resolved for me now. Also adobe cs3 apps are working again for me so disregard that. Sorry for flooding this thread with questionable bugreports
rvtk
I am trying to see the big picture here: I installed my AMD machine with iAtkos S3v2 and updated to 10.6.5. This broke my USB functionality so I copied IOUSBFamily 10.6.4 to /Extra/Extensions. Now the USB keyboard and mouse work again. If I install the 10.6.5 legacy kernel, can I remove 10.6.4 kexts and the original 10.6.5 kexts should work? (similarly, my AtheroFix.kext causes KP. For AtherosFix.kext they advise to rollback IO80211Family.kext in S/L/E with the version from 10.6.4, can I skip this step by installing the kernel?) Headspin
Not working at its best... How do I check the /verbose logs so i can copy paste the errors here? I get some ACPI_Platform_powermanagement CPUID problem or something like that... saying that powermanagement may not work properly... I get another thing saying something like patch_obj and decryption (will retry) and it just keeps repeating that till dmos is arrived or somethin.. Another thing is that even in arch=i386 , arch=i386 -force 64, any 32 bit mode, 64 bit mode, safari still fails after I did that patch thing showed in the previous posts... It crashes constantly so right now Im using firefox to write this. One more thing how do I get battery to show up in the top right corner? cuz enabling that in system pref didnt work.. Im fairly new to hackintosh btw but Im not completely noob I can run commands and install kexts and stuff. Im using AMD athlon II x64, HP G61. If u tell me where to find these kernel logs, I can post it but other than that I'd have to find my camera to take a pic or write down everysingle one but the screen moves so fast its hard to remember all
nawcom
- i'm getting my old friend "NOT_IMPLEMENTED bora/vmx/main/vmmonPosix.c:312" when starting a vm and VMWare installer saying i need an Intel cpu, "only" with the legacy kernel; i remember this from long time ago, but can't remember the reason and google is not helping much.. any thoughts? In kern_mib.c it looks like some code that is supposed to be in case HW_MODEL was put in case HW_MACHINE, so instead of i386 or x86_64 being in hw.machine, it's your model name. I just moved the needed code to the right place and recompiled. kernel by itself: http://nawcom.com/osx86/files/10.6/Kernels...gacy_kernel.bz2 updated the pkg too: http://nawcom.com/osx86/files/10.6/Kernels...-10.5.0.pkg.zip

What I do is sudo mv mach_kernel mach_kernel.old; sudo ln -s legacy_kernel mach_kernel That way you don't have to deal with losing it during the next update. There's no need to change the name of the kernel you boot, mach_kernel simply needs to link to the kernel you are using. That's my personal preference. That way there is no need to deal with kernel names when updating.
