Burn your DVD at 3x speed. 2. Sometimes you have enter boot options (F8) and just type -v and hit enter. 3. You have to be selective about what you choose under customize. I have made it work almost everytime. When I get home I will walk through it again and post up a mini guide. dothacker
iAtkos S3 V2 When you boot with your DVD in drive, press F8. When the prompt comes on, type in: cpus=1 (this will force your Dell D630 to run one core only, prevents it from lagging and skipping). When you see the Language selection, choose English (of course). Format your drive using Disk Utility to GUID partition. After that, Click next twice Choose "Customize" on the lower left corner of the window. on Bootloader, Choose "Chameleon RC5" Boot options, leave it blank On patches, leave the default ones (/Extra directory, fakesmc etc etc...) and add in a modified boot kernel (quoopo 10.3.0) On Drivers, choose Intel SATA. Then head on to LAPTOP something... choose the first three (i forgot what they are...) and dont forget the NTFS-3g... just check the box. VGA, choose the one that has Intel-> X3100 Network... forgot which one the D630 has... but if you have 3945abg as your wireless, that only works on UNSECURED wireless networks. Try that for now and if something goes wrong, keep trying and take notes on what you change so you know what you did. Good luck and have fun. ashman1970
Trying to get my Latitude D630 going right now with Iatkos S3 v2 but not having much luck. What did you guys use for video, mine has Intel GMA 965 which is not an option to pick in Iatkos, I don't believe I have the X3100 so I don't know what to choose for video. Thanks AM Everything is working on mine except laptop video ( I have to use an external monitor) and wireless. boot loader - Chameleon RC4 boot options - 32bit boot patchs = default BUT change uncheck RTC and select 32bit rtc. Drivers = under sata select ACHI Sata (do not choose the intel also make sure ACHI is enabled in the bios) Under sound = voodooHDA Under PS/2 = voodooPS2 Under CPU Management = VoodooPstate Under Laptop Hardware = Battery, Card Reader, and TSC Sync VGA = Select intel x3100 32bit frame buffer (IF YOU HAVE INTEL GRAPHICS) if you have nvidia I cannot tell you) NETWORK = Wired select the broadcom 5755m (I am not sure on wireless. The intel 3945 wireless is not an option so I skipped it.) now install. It takes about 20 min, all of the sudden it will reboot. Here lies the problems. You have to have an external monitor connected to get video. I am working on getting my laptop display to work. When I get a solution I will post it. Also my wireless does not work. I am working on that as well. But this post was made from one of my D630's running 10.6.3. I am still working on getting it to update. Once I do I will gladly write up something far more thorough. ::::EDIT:::: OK so I now have video working on the laptop display. I am stuck at 1024x768 32bit color. I opened my main drive and went into system/library/extensions and deleted all the files relating to intel GMA. I then opened disk utility and did a permissions repair on the drive then rebooted. Laptop booted up to the internal lcd. Now to move on and get the resolution corrected to 1280x800. Making progress. If you have the nVidia Quadro on your D630, like I do, then use the Graphics Enabler option in the bootloader options menu. 3945abg works, but only on UNSECURED networks (No security, WEP, WPA) Unless you wanna replace it with the DW1390 you can buy online (bought 10 for 5 bucks a piece) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237254-osx86-for-dell-latitude-d630/#findComment-1624213 Share on other sites
timbojill
I am also trying to install MAC 10.6.2 on a Dell Latitude D630. I am using another boot loader and an original MAC Snow Leopard Boot disc. 10.6.2. It starts to install but the monitor turns off. I plugged in an external monitor and tried again. After using the boot loader (EFI Boot Loader I got from another site) I put in the Snow Leopard Disc. It boots but the Screen is so large I can only see the top portion of the Screen. Can any one else help me out ? Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/237254-osx86-for-dell-latitude-d630/#findComment-1625855 Share on other sites

I've install iATKOS v2 10.6.3 fine but wireless don't work. Screen resolution max at 1028X720. Do we have to do the update incrementally 10.6.3 -->10.6.4 --> 10.6.5-->10.6.6 ? I've tried going from 10.6.3 --> 10.6.6 (combo update) and it gave me a garbled screen (black screen) afterwards. I have a gmax3100 video btw. Also, any advice on how to get wireless working ?
