rimoe
Hey Guys, I have a maxdata Notebook running SL 10.6.0. I have deleted IOFirewireFamily.kext because it causes kernelpanic after reboot. Now i want to update my installation but in that case the deleted kext will be installed again and causes kernel panic during update process. Is there a possibility to use the Disabler.kext to prevent the system from loading iofirewirefamily.kext? THX for help

rimoe
Or could anyone explain me how the disabler.kext works. What do i have to write into the plist file to disable IOFireWireFamily.kext. Or is it not possible to use the disabler.kext for firewire? Would be nice if anyone could explain it to me. rimoe
Hey guys, so i solved the problem on my own. I have used a disabler.kext and edited the info.plist so that the diasabler prevents the AppleFWOHCI from loading. So everyone experiencing problems with firewire could use this disabler to disable firewire. its better than just deleting the file because you can now update your system without having kp during update. So i found out that the disabler works for all extensions. You have to edit the info.plist in that way that you have the same personalities entered than in the kext you want to disable. The IOProbeScore Value has to be higher than in the original kext you want to disable thats all. Sorry for english. So here is the final disabler.kext for disabling IOFireWireFamily.kext Disabler.kext.zip
