tommac_osx86
Vanilla power management (SpeedStep) and Restart fix Use Chameleon RC5Add in boot.plist <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> Is that everything I need for running Sleep and Speed Stepping again with 10.6.7 in boot.plist? No pmVersion=21 anymore? Prior to 10.6.7 my sleep was fine. No sleepenabler or something else, just the files for extra + AutoPatcher for DSDT. My mobo: EP35-DS3

aMuse
Hi MaLd0n, as always thanks for your advice. I haven't upgraded yet to 10.6.7 (still 10.6.6, Chameleon 2 RC5) but things are working well, except Speedstep. I have it enabled in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist: <key>GeneratePStates</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>GenerateCStates</key> <string>Yes</string> But MSR Tools show actual frequ. and max. frequ. as the same (no load). Any suggestions? Bios settings? Best, aMuse

aMuse
Hi MaLd0n, thanks. Which FakeSMC are you using with the SMC Monitor? Also, can you send me a snapshot of you P & C States (SMC Monitor)? L33cher3
Hi, thanks for your tutorial. Here are my specs: Ga P35-DS3 Q6600 Nvidia GTS 450 8GB DDr2 Ram I've installed everything like you've explained in the first post. Copy the Extra folder, install Chameleon RC5, generate DSDT and copy to EXTRA folder. (Update to 10.6.7) But then, after rebooting, it hangs after some time at "failed to locate SMC Driver" (look at the attached pic). Same thing with safe mode. If I try to boot from Boot CD, I get Kernel Panics. Thats very inconvenient cause everytime I try something new I have to reinstall Snow Leopard because I'm unable to get back into the OS after I did the Post installation thing. I guess it's about my Graphic Card? Thanks for help, Tobi

CamiloML
try with -f -v I think he's got permissions problems, FakeSMC is not loading. If he just copied the Extra folder content from within OSX then permissions must be broken.

If he just copied the Extra folder content from within OSX then permissions must be broken. I copied the Extra folder, but there is no FakeSMC.kext in Extra/Extensions. Is that the Problem? It's the Extra-folder from OP. I'm a bit confused, there is this other Thread "Snow Leopard on Gigabyte Mobos" where I can download the Extra-folder according to the cpu I've installed. There is a fakesmc.kext. But not in this thread...

L33cher3
Hi, I've installed Snow Leopard again, this time with the FakeSMC from the other Gigabyte Mobo thread in /Extra/Extensions/. (That was before I read your post) I can boot now into Mac OS, but my graphic card is not recognized. I've made the update to 10.6.7 and installed the tonymacx86 Nvidia update for 4xx cards, but still only 1024x768 resolution. Any Idea what to do to get my graphic card running? Shall I copy your FakeSMC-Temp files into S/L/E and/or delete the fakesmc.kext in /Extra/Extension? Is this better?

L33cher3
thanks I will try this. Do I have full compatibility with my graphic card by using this method? For example CUDA, hardware acceleration? Do I have to delete the fakesmc in the extra folder? Or can i leave it there?

L33cher3
Ok, the graphics work now, but some new problems occured: I have to boot with "-f" flag to get the fakesmc working. Unless it hangs at failed to locate smc driver. I guess if i put the FakeSMC back into the extra folder this problem is gone. What's the advantage of fakesmc in S/L/E? The bigger problem: Now my PS2 Keyboard is not recognized. It worked all the time, now it doesn't. Tried the trick with a ps2-mouse, nothing helped. Thanks for your time.
