[REQ] 10.6 AppleHDA for Realtek ALC861

I'm writing this topic because I've tried all the versions (apple hda patcher included) of kexsts available on this forum for ALC861 and they're all out of date [snow leo unsupported]. VoodooHDA doesn't work well with this soundcard [crackles], even on low frecq so we would need a new driver.

I beg all the people that are able to write a driver or know a fix for ALC861 to type the solution here.

I've got a VodooHDA.kext that give me out, mic but I can't change volume.

Can anybody help me with problem ?

You can patch AppleHDA to work with your onboard audio. I have with my ALC888 and it works fine! You can even update to another Leopard version and patch AppleHDA again.

 

First you're going to need a Linux distro. Ubuntu will work fine.

Boot the Live CD on the Hackintosh, then when a window pops up, click "try ubuntu", unless you have a text-mode loader, where you select the appropriate choice.

 

You'll need to go into the Terminal for this. Load the terminal then copy-paste this:

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > ~/Desktop/codec_dump.txt

If it doesn't work, change the number on "codec#0". It took me a few tries.

 

When you have managed to get your codec dump, it should be on the desktop, connect any flash drive (SD card, memory stick, etc) or external hard drive.

 

You can now boot into OS X.

 

When on Mac OS X (Internet required), load your browser of choice and go to this site:

Download AppleHDAPatcher. Put it in your Applications folder if you want. If you don't want to visit his blog, here's the MediaFire link:

Now drag your codec_dump.txt onto the AppleHDAPatcher icon. The program will alert you some technical info on the dump (like, the manufacturer and model name). Let it patch and when done, restart. You should have pretty much ALL of your sound working now.

 

Patch it yourself - don't get a premade kext or codec dump. That's what I did and only few of my ports were available on Mac. My mic works on Mac OS X.
