Qjimbo
I've been told that Chameleon RC5 can give me 1920x1080 resolution with my GMA X4500 chipset, however I have yet to get it working. I've installed the May 18 2011 package, and used Lizard to generate the following com.apple.boot.plist and org.chameleon.boot.plist (in the Extra folder) file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1080x32</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> </dict> </plist> But it's still not working. Any help would be really appreciated.

Qjimbo
I have a Gigabyte GA-G41MT-D3V motherboard, and right now I'm running iPC Leopard 10.5.6 (I have to use Leopard-only software so I can't upgrade). Hope this helps!
Qjimbo
An update, deviato has been helping me via PM, and he recommended this version of the Chameleon PKG: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1750792 This version has the resolution module, which installed OK (in /Extra/modules/), but the mode is still not working. At boot time when I type ?video the modes shown are all 4:3 modes, up to 1600x1200. No sign of 1920x1080

I'm using my Inspiron 6400 since a year and Sleep had never worked, because there was an error "..not enough space to restore..." But now the sleep image is waking up!!! Amazing!!! Everything comes back to screen, but i cannot control it. Touchpad and mouse isn't working and the system seems to freeze. So what can i do to repair this? crazybirdy
I merge it to my branch. (Both zh_CN and zh_TW) please check it. Then I will merge to main trunk code. Fabio Update for both zh_TW and zh_CN, cause of ulimate's revision didn't work at all. I fix some errors and strings from ulimate's, and test with ErmaC r1590, it works fine. Also add new item for bullet theme since trunk r1014. "Bullet_title" "Bullet_description" Remind: Need to use zh_CN.lproj, zh_TW.lproj for chinese, not zh-CN.lproj, zh-TW.lproj. Thanks. [EDIT] I test with trunk 1613 and ErmaC 1612, both work fine now. And find one word wrong about the Welcome file the credits part. I'm thinking if need to write more detail, not just translate the words in english. Will update it if it's done. [EDIT] Ok, correct the wrong word in the Welcome file the credits part. And update the new translation of Chinese with more details. It should be the last one. Update as below. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...1075&st=

blackosx
As Fabio mentioned, here's the latest Chameleon package installer that I've been working on. A lot of changes have been made behind the scenes to allow easier management of how the package is created, but there are a couple of additions which will prove useful too. The intention is for it be the new package installer in the Chameleon trunk, but before it does, I would like it to undergo some tests from users with different setups and to report back any issues. Now, I have tested and re-tested this for a while now and it's successfully installed Chameleon to HDD and USB flash drive everytime and if not, the install log has told me the reason why. I have not had any problems whatsoever and as far as I can tell the installer behaves correctly. So to anyone who would like to test this, please do so on a test rig and understand that this is a beta. If for any unlikely reason that data loss should occur, I will not be held responsible. You test this at your own risk. Source is available at http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleo...anches/blackosx • It can install Chameleon to your HDD or USB flash drive using either HFS+ or FAT32 format partitions. • It will also install to the EFI system partition if you wish to do so. This option will unmount all volumes named 'EFI' before commencing and it won't format the EFI system partition. • An install log will be generated and saved at the root of the selected target for a record of what was installed and where. It also serves as somewhere to log any warnings or reasons for the installer to quit, even though the package installer might report success. • The installer will detect and stop if detecting a FAT16 format partition. • Boot0 or Boot0md will be installed dependent on whether or not a Windows partition is present on the same disk. • Added detection to catch users trying to install Chameleon on two separate partitions on the same disk. • It uses the latest icon that Fabio has worked on adding to the trunk code. • Package items have been re-structured, with modules moved to the root menu and the optional settings organised differently. • Choosing to install just the bootloader will leave an existing /Extra folder intact. • If choosing any options, modules etc., then an existing /Extra folder will be backed up before making a new one. • English language is the only one that's been worked on, so the others will need updating in due course. And my branch doesn't contain all the last language translations from Fabio's branch so apologies in advance. Note: No work has been undertaken yet to support installing to RAID setups. This is a future plan. I look forward to hearing any feedback. Thanks EDIT: 7th October 20:20 - v1616 removed. Now updated with v1620. EDIT: 16th October 19:53 - v1620 removed. It should be 1616. To check the version / revision of Chameleon's boot file without rebooting, you can use a command posted by zhell here. First cd to the directory containing the boot file, then type: strings boot | sed -nE 's!^Darwin/x86 boot.+(Chameleon.+)!\1!p' Can you test installing to a USB flash drive? BubuXP
I don't know if already explained somewhere, I searched but didn't find anything. In a dual boot system with windows (or linux), Chameleon will pass the customized DSDT.aml to the other OS or it just bypass this and makes the other OS to use the bios DSDT? And there is a way to enable/disable this feature? Thanks.

I discovered an issue in that when I conducted my previous tests for installing to the EFI system partition, I had been using dmaazar's modified boot0md, know as boot0workV2 (more info). I have now updated my branch and installer to now use the revised code for boot0md. Fabio, thanks for the posted feedback. I'll have a look a bit later as I have to go out now. crazybirdy - Nice job. Thanks. BubuXP - Chameleon will only override a DSDT.aml when booting OS X. It will use the BIOS's ACPI tables for other operating systems. blackosx
Fabio, from the code you posted earlier I see disk0 shows boot0, but I can't identify the code for disk2 ? The script checks bytes 069h-06Bh for a match against some know values, for example: 0a803c for boot0, 0b807c for boot0hfs. But as you can see from your posted result, you have 09803c which I don't have a match for? hmm.. which boot0 file did you write to disk2? Found errors with EN-Localizable.strings as below. Do I need to modify the title to be "New C-State _CST=Yes" or something else ? "CSTUsingSystemIO_title" = "Generate C-States=Yes"; "CSTUsingSystemIO_description" = "New C-State _CST generation method using SystemIO registers instead of FixedHW."; "GenerateCStates_title" = "Generate C-States=Yes"; "GenerateCStates_description" = "Enable auto generation of processor idle sleep states (C-States)."; To be honest I haven't touched either of those, but now you ask I think they both do the same thing but in different ways. So ideally the user would only choose one of them, not both in which case they can stay as they are. But I agree it's confusing. However, for now, I will work on finishing the installer and making sure that's working before finalising the text as that might change between now and when it's finished. BubuXP
Chameleon will only override a DSDT.aml when booting OS X. It will use the BIOS's ACPI tables for other operating systems. Thanks. There is already a way to make Chameleon always load DSDT.aml regardless of the OS? I'm not able to modify source code to make this possible; could Chameleon developers integrate this "feature" and hide it, leaving it undocumented for the normal users? It's safer than flashing the DSDT into bios, I almost killed my mobo doing this
