chris1111
Strange, If I replace folder kernel and rename mach_kernel to kernel see what append can't find mach_kenel Thats why I rename to mach_kenel and its work chrism put this bootcacke.plist on usr/Standalone/replace boot cache.plist and work 100% No delete any kerne for your /System/Library/Kernels/and put your kernel I dont have folder kernel its Installer USB not the OS X HDD I think your nor reading good the post here I create this folder because not work, My Yosemite working good not need anny flag I dont whant to modified nothing I whant Vanilla Installer
ErmaC
I dont whant to modified nothing I whant Vanilla Installer chris... Yosemite (Vanilla Installer) the kernel is not present in the /System/Library/Kernels/kernel this step is a workaroud for chameleon because can't extract/read from his compressed place. Other story (correct) if OSX (Yosemite) is installed on the Hard Disk so ok for /System/Library/Kernels/kernel Also match_kernel is the name used for all the previus OSX's kernels (NOT YOSEMITE) so pls don't still rename it in a way where in the future there is no go... Micky1979
Hi @chris1111, @ErmaC, I find if you don't specify the location of the kernel and also use -f, I also get that message. So with the kernel in System/Library/Kernels/kernel, if you have -f, you must specify where the kernel is (using kernel key in o.c.B.plist or on the command line) without -f and after you edit /usr/standalone/bootcaches.plist (lzvn--->lzss), rebuild kernelcache, everything works automatically. Not correct! -f mean ignore caches, so Chameleom is buggy because your kernel is not found....or is named differently EDIT If Chameleon know where the kernelcache is, use that (with UseKernelCache=Yes), but only if is not out of date (respect to /Sistem/Library/Extension), otherwise search the kernel file and ignore the kernelcache. Chameleon can't load the yosemite kernelcache until you have recreate it using lzss compression (so can't boot the vanilla installer ATM). If you use -f, you are tell Chameleon that you don't want to use the kernelcache OK? Then Chameleon search for the kernel (if exist)......if the path is not the "standard one" you need to specify the kernelcache path also. So simply use UseKernelCache=No to debug Chameleon.. Micky1979
Chameleon searching mach_kernel Ok, this is the right answare (i.e. do not work) @Micky1979, Yeah, it's weird but I'm only reporting what I'm seeing . I make sure to name the kernel "kernel" in Yosemite System/Library/Kernels so maybe autodetection is not 100% working... Funnily enough, if I set the key UseKernelCache to No in o.c.B.plist it works to boot ignoring caches without specifying kernel location! Only if I use -f and letting chameleon autodetect the kernel does the error happen. If you look at the procedure I outlined for the creation of my USB, rebuilding the kernelcache with FakeSMC.kext inside after editing /usr/standalone/bootcaches.plist is exactly what I do.... Sorry but this from your post is a "abomination". 2. Place and rename mach_kernel to Volumes/Installer/System/Library/Kernels/kernel You do not need to rename nothing, because mach_kernel does not exist in Yosemite. This is the problem of all problems, because it really is generating so much confusion. If you want you can put your kernel inside the installer and call him "crazy_horse", and then force boot somehow. But do you think this is the best way to give feedback about, in this topic? Everyone does as he pleases?
fusion71au
@Micky1979, Sorry for the confusion - I'll edit the post. Originally to make the USB installer work, all of us were using @chris1111's modified chameleon r2377 which installed the kernel as "mach_kernel" on the root of the USB. Of course I know that the native kernel is available only after you have installed Yosemite on the hard drive and it is found in /System/Library/Kernels....
chris1111
if my posts causing confusion I am delete all my post to the boot-usb-os-x-yosemite-chameleon http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298753-boot-usb-os-x-yosemite-chameleon/page-11?do=findComment&comment=2031858
Micky1979
The fact is that some people say that everything is ok, others who say that there are problems. Then I recommend and I repeat to do the test in this way: 1) Chameleon can not boot the installer ATM w/o workaround (but nobody forbids anyone to do what he wants obviously), but Until someone has found a way to unpack the kernelcache lzvn compressed, is better not to speak about Installer, because it is really useless now (Except Ermac says otherwise). 2) Posting only if the conditions are as those indicated: - original kernel path and name must be /System/Library/Kernels/kernel. - bootcaches.plist with the "preferred compression" set to lzss (nothing else) - delete the "Kernel" key in your org.chameleon.Boot.plist: Kernelmach_kernel - set the ocbp (or give it at boot time) to not read the kernelcache: UseKernelCache No 3) Post the result and provide the bdmesg Sorry guys, but if you read the pages back this was repeated many times, and knowing what does not work is the best thing to remove errors (----> DEBUG) if my posts causing confusion I am delete all my post to the boot-usb-os-x-yosemite-chameleon http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298753-boot-usb-os-x-yosemite-chameleon/page-11?do=findComment&comment=2031858 Why? You can do what you want in your Topic .... maybe you can write a few lines in the first page about your customizations, at least they get here already aware is not your fault if people are not familiar with a new OS.

Micky1979
Ok guys you can install the "boot" file taken from Ermac's post here: 2380 V4 just copy and replace the one you have on the root (you can make a backup of it and put away). Since your bdmesg show V3 version, ErmaC has posted a V4.... and then type UseKernelCache=No at boot time? thanks
