Hi all...I am of the opinion that if it works don't...well you know. So I have been using R750 on my rig and all is well but with Lion it looks like I need to start using a new version of Cham. So I tried the latest version and it broke my dual monitor setup that started working in 10.6.8. So I decided to figure out at what point it broke and it happens to be from R750 to R788. Here is what I get from R750:

Using PCI-Root-UID value: 1

ATI VGA Controller [1002:9490] :: PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

old pci command - 7

boot display - 1

Not going to use bios image file

Found bios image

Adding binimage to card 9490 from legacy space with size f400

No SMBIOS replacement found.

and here is what I get from R788:

Using PCI-Root-UID value: 1

Framebuffer @0xE0000000 MMIO @0xFDEE0000 I/O Port @0x0000EE00 ROM Addr @0x00000000

ATI card POSTed, reading VBIOS from legacy space

ATI RV730 ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series 512MB (Flicker) [1002:9490] (subsys [1787:2003]):: PciRoot(0x1)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

No SMBIOS replacement found.

So I assume that something with the Flicker frame buffer is causing my dual monitors to stop working.

So I checked the change log and saw "Kabyl: Merged ATi Enabler code from branches/Kabyl". Would it be safe to say that the new ATi Enabler code is what is preventing dual monitors and if so is there a way for me to use the old R750 Enabler with the newer Chams?

Edit: Using AtiConfig=Peregrine or Motmot seems to do the trick.

Hi!

I am using the latest chameleon boot loader RC5 v1200.

I buyed, downloaded OS X Lion from App Store.

I upgraded Snow Leon to Lion on 2 mac, but on my hackintos it doesn't work.

If I start the installer from applications folder, everything is ok, but after restart nothing happened.

Why can't I see the installer setup after restart?

Please, somebody help me....

Obviously, any version of the Mac OS X is NOT installable by using the standard mainstream Apple installation methods. There are many guides and ongoing discussions on this topic all over the internet and this very forum.

Thanks for the new release of chameleon.

With my old one, Trunk r1083, Grafik enabler yes in com.apple.Boot.plist it work's

Now I'm using Trunk 1187 and it doesn't work anymore.

Very Strange.

Could it be that the path to com.apple.Boot.plist has been changed?

Or do I have to make a custom EFI Sting for my Geforce 8800 GT like in the past ?

That's interesting... Peregrine still works on 10.6.8/Lion? or just Lion?

Both.

Well, the reason why i asked is because the Peregrine framebuffer doesn't show anymore on 10.6.8/Lion??

Not the case with Motmot, which is on 4800 Controller.

Azimutz,

Anything news about WIFI problem and restart , this is for LION ., SL works great.

See more info here...

BR

EDIT

Added a bdmesg for 1078, where my WIFI card is working on LION ;)

Peter

I had the same wifi restart problem.

You need to delete AirPortAtheros40.kext plugin under /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns

hope this helps, for me it worked !!!!

But what has that do with Chameleon ? it worked on older version, could any one explain this for me :)

Well, looking at the bdmesg's, Chameleon is clearly loading the AirPortAtheros40 kext on r1203, while on r1078 it wasn't:

- on r1070

Read HFS+ file: [hd(1,2)/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros40.kext/Contents/Info.plist] 2346 bytes.

only the plist is parsed...

- on r1203 there's also

Read HFS+ file: [hd(1,2)/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros21.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortAtheros21] 1004400 bytes.

Read HFS+ file: [hd(1,2)/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros40.kext/Contents/MacOS/AirPortAtheros40] 4096 bytes.

indicating that the binary was loaded.

All i can think of are some changes that were done to the xml parser, which seem to make Chameleon load kexts that were not loading before; see this post.

Can you put back AirPortAtheros40.kext and try the attached booter?

p.s.: removed the attachment; only later saw issue 126... we talk there if needed.

Hello, I'm currently on Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and I have Chameleon r644.

I want to upgrade, is it enough to replace just the boot file or something has changed also on the others?

Do I have to rename com.apple.Boot.plist to com.chameleon... ?

D'animal, that only tells that the AtiConfig key is working properly;

what counts is ioreg; can you check what shows there?

Install the others too and "yes" the Boot.plist (org.chameleon.boot.plist).

Sorry if this had been asked/answered before, but I want to know if newer versions from kexts.com are your releases or some fake builds?

Chameleon 2.0 RC5 r1224 [VS] is available there atm.

I wouldn't call them fake, since most of them come from the ones "we" post here and there, but...

Great.. should work fine, was just a matter of replacing names. In fact, if the code is case sensitive,

there's a thing or two that might work better... might ;)

Interesting... will give it a ride asap.

Hi, seems I am to stupid, my me it have no effect.. :-(

- I downloaded the 315 Trunc 10_6 for my fresh install (p5W DH..)

- installed it (for all users).

- I look in my /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist

leoone:Extra root# ls -la /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
-rw-r--r--@ 1 root wheel 627 Jul 25 23:49 /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist

- I start Systemsetup->Chameleon (prefpane)

- type requestet Password for unlocking

- I made some changes (Exml: resolution to 1280x1024x32)

- close the window or klick "Show All"

- check again my /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist

--> No changes .. :-(

leoone:Extra root# ls -la /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
-rw-r--r--@ 1 root wheel 627 Jul 25 23:49 /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
leoone:Extra root# ls -la /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
-rw-r--r--@ 1 root wheel 627 Jul 25 23:49 /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
leoone:Extra root#

Console says:

26.07.11 00:23:34	[0x0-0x54054].com.apple.systempreferences[1206]	Parsing < 0777 /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist>

Do I do something wrong, or is it a bug, or something else?

Sorry bout that, here's an export from IOREG one from Chameleon R1173 (using AtiConfig=Peregrine) and the other from R750 and not using any AtiConfig=. If I am reading it right it looks like the R750 Chameleon loads Peregrine but the R1173 looks like its just using RadeonFrameBuffer but I could be wrong.

EDIT: So I booted up this time using R1173 and AtiConfig=Flicker. Guess I was wrong about the 750 using Peregrine cuz when I use Flicker it is quite obvious. Here is the IOReg when using Flicker frame buffer. Now I only get one monitor when using Flicker but DVD player doesn't crash (it did with the other two). Guess I'll have to decide whether I want two monitors or dvd player.

Hi MrLight, you don't seem to be doing something wrong, but i just tested adding Graphics Mode and

it worked fine; maybe some bug if you try to add more than one option??

I don't test/use the panel in a long time so, it's hard for me to say what's working properly or not.

I recall some glitches, but it was a long time ago to remember :P

Sorry bout that,...

Nothing to be sorry mate  will take a look and update the post... brb

EDIT: yeah, you got my thinking :) with Flicker looks better.

About the dual display, there's solution; try another framebuffer or edit the "best" fb to your needs.

I'll add your card to Chameleon code, got all i need ;) the dev id it's there but it's not for your card.

Just do me a favor; we continue this talk here, ok?!

Should I use Xcode3.2 or Xcode4.0.1 versions?

Sorry, I'm not sure what are differences between those.

...

I also like to use terminal, but I hoped that it could be comfortable ...

I was something strange, maybe it helps:

I first (for testing) change permissons for org.chameleon.Boot.plist:

leoone:Extra root# ls -la org.chameleon.Boot.plist
-rw-r--r--@ 1 root wheel 628 Jul 26 15:02 org.chameleon.Boot.plist
leoone:Extra root# chmod a+w org.chameleon.Boot.plist
leoone:Extra root# ls -la org.chameleon.Boot.plist
-rw-rw-rw-@ 1 root wheel 628 Jul 26 15:02 org.chameleon.Boot.plist

then I made one change in the PrefPane, (not importand which one...) and close the systemsetup ...

then I check this file again:

leoone:Extra root# ls -la org.chameleon.Boot.plist
-rw-r--r--@ 1 root wheel 628 Jul 26 15:02 org.chameleon.Boot.plist
leoone:Extra root#

--> the permissions are changed, but the content not...

So the prefPane is deffinitly accessing this file, but write NO Changes...

maybe that could be a hint?

Hint 2:

--> So long I don't close the System-setup it remember the changes. For Example:

- I open System Setup,

- Go to Chameleon PrefPane->Boot Setup

- change name of one Partition: hd(0,1) MyWindows 7 -> hd(0,1) MyWindows 17

- go to Chameleon PrefPane->Start from...

- I see the name is changed.

- I go to: Show all Setup, Chameleon Prefpan disappear

- I go back to Chameleon Prefpan -> Start from...

- >> The Name is still the NEW one. (so far so good)

- I close Systemsetup, and reopen it again, the Changes are gone (what is logical, the org.chameleon.Boot.plist wasn't changet and he read it again.)

Do You have any version with switched on (extended) Log-Files? So I can search and report better?

greetings

Mr Light :-)

Or maybe a version which is alerting what it want to write, where to write, and after writing the success or actual error? (Only for checking what it is ....

p.pS: 10.6.8
