Peter R.
I have a Gigabyte P55A-UD4 with a GTX470 (no QI/QC), user DSDT by TonyMac, and some ##### mods. It boots only with the experimental Fermi 2 ##### Tony made a few months ago. This RC5 breaks it. I end up in an eternal 'your system needs a reboot' loop. Dunno why. I'm too dumb.

exiva
I'm having trouble with the r629 installer. I installed it with the Standard option. Now I get stuck on Read HFS+ file: [hd0,2]/Extra/SMBIOS.plist] 1754 bytes. I've tried both the default SMBIOS.plist and the one included in the installer. I've also tried arch=i386 since it's an Atom netbook. I can go back to Chameleon-2.0-RC4-r684 and this machine boots without an issue.
killerener99
I Have a Question/idea How do you change the the timeout duration for the boot menu. I tried editing my com.apple.boot.plist to no avail of course that was the one in /library/preferences/systemconfig is there another one I'm supposed to be editing or am I completely off. I think that this might be something that would be good/easy to add to the installer.

With the following key & respective string in your com.apple.boot.plist: <key>Timeout</key> <string>15</string> You may want to change the Timeout key value from 15 to other value that's appropriate for you. BladeRunner
Tried changing the boot playlist nothing changed. If there is a com.apple.Boot.plist in your /efi partition or /Extra folder, that is the one you should change.
Leo X
Thank you for your beautiful easy-to-use package!I find one small matter though:if i enable 64bit kernel boot mode using the 32- or 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selector, it will give me error parsing the boot plist message at boot up? If i choose instead to use the 32bit kernel boot mode - it works flawlessly. Perhaps you can enable your package to accept the arch=x86_64 string in the Kernel Flags setting in the boot.plist and all will be swell?? Hi, I check again and somehow the issue has gone away, so i think it has nothing to do with your wonderful package after all, it works also in 10.6.5! kizwan
sorry but does it work for 10.5.8 Yes, it does work. I just tried on 10.5.8 (GUID/GPT disk with HFS+ EFI partition). Well, I was referring to Chameleon 2 RC5 r629 boot files, not the installer. I tested the installer on MBR disk, should work fine.

blackosx
Where the download link of Chameleon 2 RC5 r629 V2? V2 was pulled as I spotted problems with it. Will the next release of this have any of the changes for AnVAL version 5.0.1? No - the intention of this was to just use the official Chameleon trunk. If some of the modifications from the AnVAL branch make it in to the trunk then they'll be included here. But for now, if the AnVAL modifications of the bootloader only apply to the boot file (stage 2), then you could always use the installer here and just replace the 'boot' file manually after the installer has completed. Though please note, the last installer posted here was a test/trial version for some modifications I made to the original Chameleon installer scripts and was by no means an official release. There have been many downloads and some feedback which has proved useful. One thing to note is don't use the v1 test to install the bootloader files to the EFI system partition without un-mounting any other volumes with the name 'EFI' first. blackosx
I might be attempting to use this in a way that is not and never will be intended. I just installed rev629 to an external drive after installing 10.6.4 the external drive. I did the 10.6.4 install from within OS X using a script. I have never booted off of the drive and it is completely virgin still. Not even an Extra folder on it..../snip/... @maleorderbride Thanks for your report and indeed it was used on an interesting setup... though for a setup as elaborate as that I would personally stick with a manual install of files rather than trust an installer as you don't know exactly what it will do. I have been busy re-working an installer since the test v1 was released here and it has changed quite a lot since so I need to try to think back to how this previous one worked. One thing I notice is the installer log you've posted doesn't show much and it looks as though some of the scripts weren't run? and with regard to using with an existing installation of GRUB, I am still learning about the effects of that, though the installer script has a check in place to at least identify the existence of GRUB which isn't shown in the log either which makes me wonder exactly what happened? On a side note, the newer version I've been working on exits if it finds a GRUB or Linux loader as I'm reluctant to release anything that could effect anything I don't understand. On that note, therefore, if I ever get to a point where I would chance a release of another test package then I will be happy to hear from you with further testing, though maybe not as complex as this test. Although Linux is all new to me I'm not sure having the installer exit when it finds GRUB is the right thing to do. From what I have read in Multi boot threads here & elsewhere Chameleon handles Multi booting with GRUB very well 'Providing GRUB has been 1/ installed to the Linux partition (has to be forced to do this), then 2/ Chameleon is re=installed after.. I've also become aware of some people looking into possibly using Chameleon via EFI install to multi boot Win xp & Linux (without OSX) so setting up to exit on GRUB would stop any development there. Leo X
HI, Thank you for your nice chameleon package, i particularly like the icons at boot up - i have a raid stripe snow leopard set and the 2 hdd icons are smaller and of a different color than normal hdd nice! I notice that when i reboot again, it will always boot up into snow leopard, though before install i have a dualboot snowleopard and vista, with vista providing the boot menu? So i wonder how i may reset my hdd again after your package install so i can recover back the boot up to vista showing the boot menu again? I need your help here! attached is a terminal screen shot showing my highlighted dualboot hdd THank you gweeyc Screen_shot_2010_11_17_at_PM_10.44.06.zip
