Well First of all this is one hell of a forum :dev: !!! You guys are great know computers in ways I could never figure out...

Well let's get to the the question. I am in the market for a new build and really tried to spend some time reading around but can't really find something that puts me at ease; or my limits in pc stuff kicks in and leaves me with very few clues. So I figured out I am going to ask you guys for some insights.

I want to upgrade and I am scared of choosing it took me soo much to have a stable osx but now I want to play starcraft II as well and at a decent framerate; so thought time to start looking around.

Now for the system I am on right now I used the boothink usb method http://leeyuentuen.hostei.com/?p=1118.

And of all the one i have tried is the one i like best and i would like if is it possible to keep using it. I'm looking forward a vanilla install of 10.6.4,if it is feasible with the mobo running these days, but I have now clue.

:happymac: As a CPU I was thinking one of the following: Intell i7 960, i7 930, i7 875k i am still looking into the matter but if I end up with the cash I will go for the 960 otherwise one of the other two.

:happymac: for the Mobo please suggest me any Asus or Gigabyte that will be good for running a vanilla system if a get one of those 6 slot ram one i will end up with 12 otherwise 6 gb

:happymac: As a video card I was thinking about the hd5870 since it is an option on the mac pro but any gtx 400 might as well do. i want to play steam and starcraft (would love ultra but maybe is too demanding dunno) plus I do some demanding photoshop but I gues that if it goes well on games rocks on photoshop.

I have two monitors 1 1650*1080 and 1240*1024 and that is all :)

Thanks for the time!

Yes that would be perfect, I just noted that I get the rev 2.0 in the shops around here and tried to read trough the post on this forum about the GA-X58A-UD3R rev 2.0 but could not really make sense of it now I am posting a question there too ;)

thanks for the reply
