just split about 10 gb

from it

 

and do restore for image only

then use bootcd0.6 to boot this partion

I already tried this with my local HDD (SATA). Is there a difference to a USB HDD?

 

Or is the problem that the setup media shouldn’t be on ATA nor SATA? In that case this would make sense.

see

you have ide dvd drive and it have no driver

so you use usb interfernace as it has driver

so i told you to restore snow leopard dvd on usb storage device :(

Ok, thanks that worked. But now the setup says "Mac OS can’t install on this system“ and I could only use a Time Machine Backup.

I followed your guide and everything works fine - graphics, ethernet, sound etc. But every time i try to install and open GameRanger - www.gameranger.com it unexpectedly quits. I know this is a problem with my hackintosh setup and not the app so that's why i'm posting here. Do you have any idea whats causing this? Thanks for you help.

use bootcd0.6

and if you picture this message it will be good

also with version of retail you use 10.6 or 10.6.3

It finally works. I accidentally took the wrong DVD which was OEM and not the retail.

 

However with your BootCD I don’t see any drives. This probably because of some missing drivers for my Nforce. I now use the nawcom ModCD v0.3 and so far it installs without problems.

see on updates there are apart for kernel

 

It finally works. I took the wrong DVD - OEM not retail.

 

Now it works but as I already expected there are no drives available. I can only install on the USB Drive.

 

set sata on achi mode

and setup it on sata HDD

 

added how to update to 10.6.5

I’m still confused by the CPUID part.

 

You wrote that I have to install legacy_kernel-10.4.0.pkg and it will patch CPUID. Does this mean I never have to patch it again after an update?

 

i know it is confusing guide after updates

but iwant to wait till make rewrite for it but after release of 10.5 kernel

so name it retial 10.6.5 :(

but now agnore this pkg

and see on update part about kernel there are some terminal command etc :D

I did read it but I don't understand what it wants me to do. I'm not that smart tech-wise. : ( Could you explain how to update the kernel in simpler terms? Thanks and sorry.

 

simply this is the kernel guide

 

 

 

 

people whom cant deal with new kernel please do this

1- download above tools

2-you will find two files mach_kernel and amd patcher

3 run terminal

4- type rm /mach_kernel

5-copy mach_kernel on tools to mac partion

6-now patch some files

7- first copy amd patcher to /usr/bin

8- run terminal again

9- type this command

 

CODEsudo -s

amd_insn_patcher /usr/lib/dyld /usr/lib/dyld.patched

cp /usr/lib/dyld.patched /usr/lib/dyld

amd_insn_patcher /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib.patched

cp /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib.patched /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

 

now you finished patching

 

you need to add to boot.plist

on kernel flags

-force64

this flag important to run on 64bit

Hello, I am using Hazards Distro of Snow Leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2. And I was wondering what I need to do to upgrade it to 10.6.4... If I need to take any kexts out before updating or replace anything. Can I just download the dmgs for the versions and just install? I am running AMD if it helps

Hello. I'm very new to this type of project and this forum. I've spent the better part of today troubleshooting errors with this install. It's been frustrating and rewarding at the same time, and I don't want to give up on this any time soon. Here is what I have managed so far:

 

I have used the boot loader .60 and successfully installed LS. After it told me it was successfully installed, it rebooted my system. This is where I have problems. I load up the boot loader once again, select the MAC partition, the screen goes black, starts running lines of code and then shuts my computer down.

 

If anyone can provide some further assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried following the guide about the failure to boot after install, but the problem is I am just not sure how to run terminal if I don't even have an operating system to boot into. Am I missing something here? If someone could be more detailed about what I have to do specifically, that'd be great. Thank you.

 

Here is what I'm running:

 

AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE

Asus M4A78T-E

ATI Technologies Inc RV770 [Radeon HD 4870]

Well, after using method two with the boot cd and retail snow. I now have SL running perfect so far with minimum effort. After booting with boot cd for the first time, I installed the 10.6.4 combo update, and like said, before rebooting installed the legacy kernel, chameleon, and fakesmc. I rebooted one more time without boot cd, installed my ethernet kext and my sound kext and that's all I had to do. I backed up my IOUSBFamily kext and my USBMASSSTORAGE kext, updated to 10.6.5, reinstalled kexts, rebooted and now have ~10 second boot time. CI/QE worked without having to mess with graphics at all. SO far so good. Specs are in my sig. Thanks Mohamed
