this was so much easier on intel... haha so frustrating. ty for help....

anyway - where i'm at now: used 1.5 disc to install. installed. booted snow leo from boot cd. booted fine.

now need to install kexts, kernels, all that stuff, boot file, boot loader...

*

now there are two files on after setup folder named ( pfix , amd_insn_patcher )

copy them to usr/bin use show hidden files program to go to this directory

* now copy two kexts fakesmc , atiata to system/library/extensions

* open terminal and type this command

CODE

sudo -s

rm /mach_kernel

amd_insn_patcher /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib.patched

cp /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib.patched /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

update_dyld_shared_cache

this was for kernel

*then put mach_kernel file from folder aftersetup on mac partion

^^

is this step the whole quote (including the 2 files pfix and amd_patcher) replaced by the legacy kernel 1.5 install package?

K got everything working fine in SL thanks for the help

for 4870 anyone looking best choice is to get [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] from tonymac and install the ati4870 under kexts under advanced options and enable "graphics enabler" in com.apple.bios.plist file

my final problem: installed windows 7 to partition after installed SL

it now skips the chameleon boot loader and goes straight into windows 7... i only have one hard drive or this would be an easy fix.

I figured out a bit more, and cleared off my older drive. Its a IDE drive and I've been able to get up to the

-then copy boot file from AnVAL5.0.5 folder to mac partion root

is this the same as CoreServices folder? I've researched looking for the directory and all I get is how to enable root. Which I done but still couldn't find it. I enabled show hidden files and still couldn't see it. I only can find a boot.efi in the coreservices.

Well I went ahead and put the file in the coreservices folder.

While typing this part in:

sudo -s

rm /mach_kernel

amd_insn_patcher /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib.patched

cp /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib.patched /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

update_dyld_shared_cache

I hit enter after each line when I get to the last line it says the previous line isn't a valid target.

if you run ac from usb HDD it must be slow

and what is your ram size

and two files is needed to do commands on guide

Mohamed Khairy,

Thanks for writing this informative and very helpful guide. I read this guide over and over and over (Yes all 47 pages) and tried to understand it and absorb it as much as I could before digging in. (I also wanted to make sure that I read all the updates and got and idea of some of the problems that others had just in case I had them). I downloaded all the extras that I would need and went to it. It didn't take very long and it worked like a charm. I did, however wind up not using the chameleon bootloader. (I have windows and linux running and Grub2 and chameleon apparently dont play well together.) I have mine set up as a tri-boot through Grub.) Other than that everything worked exactly as you stated. I only have two small issues but they are not a big deal and I am sure I will figure them out once I have time to play with it more.

The two problems I encountered

1. In Grub, I can boot into OSX 32 bit or OSX 64 bit. If I boot into 32 bit it fires right up no problems. Unfortunately, if I boot into OSX (Snow Leopard) 64 bit it gives me a Kernal Panic message and it wont start up.

2. When I do boot into OSX 32 (Snow Leopard) it goes directly into the operating system without going to the login screen. If I log off then the login prompt will show up.

I have working ethernet and sound!!! (I used a different kext for sound than the ones that you linked but it all works) I have not tried my usb3 ports yet but hopefully they work.

Thanks again! I would not have been able to do this without this guide!

Thank youe, Mohamed :D

edit: erm... sry I'm new at this, but do I use the above boot file to replace the one in the BootCD1.5.iso? If so, may I know how to go about doing that? ^^; pardon my lack of knowledge on this matter. Thx again

no

this boot is on bootcd 1.6 on latest update of guide

you can test it throw this bootcd

and after finish install and to boot from HDD

replace boot file i linked with one on mac partion ;)

@Greenmead800

for triple booting from chamelon

you can do it

if you have three HDD you can install three os on three HDD

if you want them on one HDD

partion HDD to three Partions by MBR

then setup windows 7 on first partion

then make second partion is boot active and install luinx on second partion but take attention during setup to install grub on second partion not on first partion

then make third partion is boot active throw (gparted) then install mac on it

now you will have triple boot with chamleon

for grub

legacy kernel till now x86-64 part not work and give panic or restart

so when you boot with 32bit it load working part i386 of kernel

and when using 64bit it load non working part x86-64 of kernel

normally no login screen on mac during boot if you booted with -x this willl appear to enter pass

As of this moment, I am still unsure on how to proceed ^^;

But I believe the best way is just to have a go it  which I will do once I've finished downloading the 1.6 BootCD.

Will report back on the outcome. Thanks again, Mohamed :P

Happy Holidays!! :D

Thanks for the information,

And for the quick response. I forgot to give information on my system. I am actually running windows 7, Ubuntu, and Snow all on different hard drives. So what you are saying is that I need to uninstall (Or write over) Grub which is on the windows 7 hard drive MBR. Then install Grub on the Ubuntu drive. And have windows 7 loader and Chameleon on the Windows drive. Each of my Op sys. have their own hard drive. I will also be adding my components to the hardware compatibility list so that others can see what components I used and what works. (at least it worked for me)

Thanks again for all of your help.

First of all... thank you for the guide!

now into the problem...

I'm trying to install 10.6.3. I am not using any flags besides the -v command. The installation seems to run smoothly at first, I get to the "choose your language screen" all the way to the select drive and click install... then I get a kernel panic about 5 minutes into the installation.

I'm using the AtiNfroce CD. I have tried BootCD01, BootCD05 and BootCD06 also but those discs give me the "still waiting for root device" message.

I will try to run the install with -x on my next day off but would anyone mind taking a look at the log and give me some feedback?

thanks for your time!

@ Mohamed

Thx for all the info and help!

After many attempts trying to fix the crashing apps I finally figured out the issue,. it's actually kind of stupid.. in the end I just had to add the 'maxmem=4096' to the boot plist., even though os x recognized 8GB of RAM, none of the apps worked. Wasted some days reinstalling and doing the whole guide over and over :censored2:

Oh and wanted to ask, I installed the VoodooHDA for the sound, and there seems to be sound, but very very soft..

For sound I have the following: Realtek ALC889A (@ ATI SB600), any suggestions for that?

Thank you!

EDIT:

Someone happen to know why the bios settings are set to default after I reboot or shutdown from OS X? So for example I reboot, and when the system boots I have to set everything over again.. :/

Thx.

Nvm  apparently it was CMOS checksum error, which can be fixed with dsdt patching.
